How do I edit the animal spawning areas to correspond with, say, a Europe map? :)

Bump.

I would also like clarification on this. The world builder save has edits for longitude I believe. The GEM map uses top:70, bottom :-60 I think. Check on the file. It still currently does not specific longitude.

Oh, yeah, I just figured out how to edit latitude (and I re-uploaded my Europe map with correctly defined parameters). However, I am still confused about longitude as well. I'm not sure that they exist.

1) examine the top left and bottom right plots of the map and get their game latitude and longitude. I suspect it wont be what you think it should be.

2) in Assets/XML/Units the file CIV4SpawnInfos.XML contains the information on where each animal (and Neanderthals) will spawn. The latitude and longitude values in each entry are Earth based.

Edit this file to match your map. Get rid f all the non-European stuff like the Australian marsupials and flightless birds.

Why can't it be based on individual maps? Why do I have to edit it every time I want to play something different?

It is based on the latitude and longitude of the plots on the map. If they are correct on your map then the animals will spawn correctly.

I don't see any longitude option in any map file.

I just realized some of the spawning locations are on the resources (e.g. camels spawn on camel resources). Since the resources are randomized, does this mean I won't see any elephants in Scotland even if it is filled with elephant resources?

EDIT: On the other hand, there won't be any elephant resources in the inappropriate latitude... so is that right then?

Tose will spawn on the resources no matter where in the world those resources are. So if there are kangaroo resources in Greece then kangaroos will spawn in Greece and elephants will spawn in Scotland in your example.

Is it possible to just add in a XML line in the map save for longitude? Or do more steps need to be taken????

It's been discussed but I wouldn't personally know how to give us an interface to set that during map creation nor how it works in the code enough to implement the idea.
