Animals for Doviello+

So, I'm trying to find some new animals to include. I've narrowed it down to:

• Stag - AoI
• Dog - Recolored wolf, essentially a weaker wolf. Allows me to make wolves stronger.
• Hyena
• PANDA!

Which would you like to see in game?

Seriously, anything; just don't add it to barb spawns or nearly impossible Grand Menagerie becomes totally screwed .

snakes, I demand snakes poisonous, constrictors and water snakes of course. and, more water animals in general. sharks, jellyfish, etc. then... crocodiles! ( yes, I like reptiles ) . will add more as I think about them

edit: something that would be mighty cool would be adding more great beasts... let's say one huge version of each animal available? I love those guys. can't wait to see an army swallowed by a giant boa or something

I think Panthers should return (they have graphics from vanilla), and have Forest Stealth.

You could add some Mammoths from AoI.

I'd recommend some wild birds of prey with attack abilities, but I'm afraid they would need cities as bases. Would it be possible to add a bActAsCity Aerie improvement that spawn them and act as bases?

looking at the riders Vehem posted in the other thread, more options come to mind... bisons, cheetas, cougars, rhynos, boars... mountain goats?

I'm going to be careful about adding it to the barb list. Don't want to make the Menagerie too easy.

I voted stag and hyena...but honestly I'd rather see slightly more fantastic animals. Terror birds, giant snakes, yeti, sabretooths....those would all rock.

Oh, and on the snake topic....is the Sea Serpent model reskinnable to use as a terrestrial snake? I know next to nothing about generating unit art, so I have no idea if that would work.

I'd like snakes too, but there are no models... I'm just waiting for the Naga unit for the Kuriotates.

Sadly, the sea serpent is not a serpent at all, but rather a plesiosaur... It has flippers, not really snakelike at all.

but anyway yea, more stuff is always cool, especially if it just needs to be copy pasted in. Just be careful with making super strong animals, the AI already has an uphill battle trying to expand with barb stacks and elite upgraded spiders running around.

I was thinking the grand menagere should require 5 (or whatever) animals of any type, so if you cant find a gorilla, oh well, grab a griffon or spider or maybe even a sea monster instead.

Edit: Looks like the balista is removed easily, so gonna put it in game and take a look at it.

That really isn't that bad apart from the really wonky ballista.

It's the animation I'm worried about. The ballista is easy to remove. About to test it though, just added it to the game.

Edit: Hmm. It IS kind of wonky, but mostly in that the tail doesn't move... Not sure about it.

The Doviello's affinity for predators really should only apply to those living in colder climes. I like the idea of wolves (and dire wolves) and bears (and dire bears). Making the doviello beastmaster style peeps is not a bad way to go either. The only problem is that lions don't really seem to fit in, neither to panthers really. Any animals that they get should be colored in greys and whites too.

My vote is for panda.

Anyone who wants to see what the snake looks like, install this module... Adds in the Snake as an Elephant UU, unavailable to anyone. Just plop it down through Worldbuilder. I'll use it if there's overwhelming support for it, otherwise I'm leaning towards no.
