NO.

It sucks-up too much bandwith (for us poor dial-up saps), and besides, they're generally ugly.

If the avatar is nicely animated, they look OK.

But yep - they are too hefty for those running 1950's internet connections!

I like anime, but it can be distracting when you're trying to read posts, and there's a whole column of moving images.
