Ank06 - 3CC Conquest

Interesting idea... but I don't think there are enough slaves or tight enough places to keep the AI away...

Good luck, Gengis. :)

First our stomping grounds:
War_fields.JPG

Still at war with Monty, but he has nothing to give us………. and I mean nothing. No money, no techs, and he sure as hell won’t part with the 5 cities I want razed.

My basic plan is to continue the war with Monty, razing his 5 cities that are in our neutral territory, then make peace for anything he’ll give us & plant a slave on the mountain pass. That way he’ll have to use galleys to move settlers which will limit him dropping cities somewhat & leave us with 2 Civs pinned down.

Since we have plenty of troops in the area, I’m going to concentrate on getting our 3 cities optimal: Alesia needs a harbor to take advantage of the extra gold the collusus gives our coastal tiles, I can also mine the cattle since it’ll be capped at 12. Entremont needs a couple more reg grasslands switched from mines to irrigation so when it caps at 12 we’ll be able to use the 4 hills in the area(we’re only using 1 right now). Hopefully this will get it up to 20spt, I don’t feel like doing the math. Lugdunum needs it’s 2 forests chopped then irrigated so it can grow to size 10(maybe even 11 if we luck out & get a plains under one of them). Thankfully Bugs left me some stacks of workers in the area that just completed our Spice colony. Once that is well underway the Knights will be coming out in full force.

Now for the funny part:
Units.JPG

We’re wrecking heads with a dismal military. We’re weak compared to Arabia, average to Carthage, & strong against everyone else.

On another note Germany, America, Carthage, & Arabia all have Printing Press. The cheapest we can get it is 14gpt & 70g(sure hurts our trading when everyone hates us because we like to burn cities full of screaming people:shrug: ) I’m gonna turn our research off for now(saves us 5gpt) & we’ll have to rely on pointy stick for a bit.

Even though Carthage & Arabia’s military will be able to keep pace or outclass ours, we can still raze their cities that lie W of America and will be poorly defended & hard to reinforce for techs. But you guys are right, it’s going to take some work to take everyone out. I’m thinking once we get a nice sized stack of Knights we can declare on Arabia then drag Carthage into it, those 2 can beat at each other while we clean out America & start heading west. Yea, it’s thinking very positive, but gotta have a plan right?

PTMMing looks great, 0 changes. I love following bugs when he only has 3 cities to go through.;)
Switch Lugdunum from Knight to Market.
Switch Alesia from Knight to Harbor.
Send an extra spear from Lugdunum towards Entremont so I can turn off our Lux tax.

We have 18 turns remaining on our gpt deal with Carthage, since it’s that long I buy an RoP for WM & 41g. That’ll speed up our troop movement, because they occupy 90% of our war zone

IT Watch like 8 Carthagion settlers squat out towns. (actually just 4)
Mongols start Sistine.

T1-(560AD) MM Alesia to coastal tiles for 9 more gpt.
Workers from Spice Colony head north for renovations.
Spear from Lugdunum arrives at Entremont, turn lux tax off.
I’m sending our slaves near the front over to our incence colony to road though that giant patch of mountains, since no one will be able to drop cities on them & it will be along time before culture overtakes the whole thing we’ll at least have a partial road to work with so we don’t have to cave to RoPs all the time.
Trade Gunpowder to Mongols for Printing Press & WM. Start a gambit on Education.
Gotta show you guys this one, in typical AI brilliance: Despite having horses, 3 floodplains, a wheat, a bunch of hills/plains/grasslands & furs all in the capitol’s 21(Korokorum really is a perfect mix of territory). The Mongols have managed 0 irrigation, 2 mines, and exactly 3 roaded tiles……….. by 560AD. Way to be a superpower guys!
mongols.JPG

Yes, this map is completely current. I just got their WM in the deal, that’s pretty pathetic.

IT Massive amounts of Arabians heading towards us.
Entremont: knight>knight
Alesia: harbor>Knight

T2-(570AD) Many troops healing. I have 5 full strength troops, but they’re amarching. Four have moved outside Tzingtsotan, and the other flawlessly kills an Med Inf.

IT Peace treaty with Abe comes up for review, I grudgingly accept.

T3-(580AD) Renew our “I won’t wipe your pathetic 2 cities off the planet” deal with Shaka for all his gold(70).

Review- turns until war:
Shaka 20
America 19
Carthage 17
Arabia 4
Elite Kn kills El Sp, -3hp.
Vet Kn kills Pk, but is redlined. We raze Tzingtzunzoonzie.
A regular Med Inf kills 2 Gallics somehow, but is redlined like that’s any consolation.
Bit of MMing.

IT Jesus, outdated units of every color of the rainbow plug up our roads. *grumble gruble*

T4-(590AD) Gallic butchers an archer, -2hp. I’m getting really sick of fighting on mountain tops.
MM Alesia a bit for gpt.

IT Revenge is sweet! 2hp Knight fends off a Knight, killing it. Then a Gallic kills another one.

T5-(600AD) Workers finish forest chop in Lugdunum, start & complete irrigation. We have growth again!
Rush market in Lugdunum for 80g.
MM Entremont to get Kn faster. It’s up to 21spt, I think I can get it to 25 even.:D
Bump lux tax to 10% to keep Entremont from rioting.
Nothing new on the Diplo front.

IT More cities founded by everyone.
Entremont: Kn>Kn
Alesia: Kn>Kn
Lugs: Market>Kn

T6-(610AD) Knight takes out newly founded Campola, -1hp.
Units healing, and bobbing through traffic to get to the front line.

IT About 10 Arabian Lbs start heading towards the Zulu(my guess).
Aztec Galley drops off an archer next to Alesia.
Az Knight kills wounded Knight, but is redlined.

T7-(620AD) Upgrade four of our spears to pikes for 80g.
Vet Kn kills the archer, -1hp & promotes.
Vet Kn retreats from a spear(unforted on a grassland) without scratching it.
El Gallic redlines a Kn before getting killed.
El Gallic picks off the Knight and……………
gallic.JPG

Verzingtorex starts breaking for our core. Hmm, Leo’s maybe?
El Gallic kills another redlined Kn, -2hp.

IT Lugdunum: Cat>Cat (oh yea, I switched it from knights to cats due to my dismal RNG luck….. this was before the leader of course)

T8-(630AD) Knight gets revenge on that spear, -1hp.
Have about 8 units ready to start marching again next turn.

IT Arabs found a city next to our spice colony. Yea, that pretty much settles who’s next.

T9-(640AD) Move in troops.
America, Carthage & Arabia have Education.
Take out a Jag.
MM a bit. Turn off research.

IT Lose a spear to a Med Inf.
Entremont: Kn>Kn

T10-(650AD) Rush Leo’s in Entremont.
Elite Knight kills a spear, -3hp.
Elite Gallic kiils a spear, -3hp. Razes Tlaxcloa.
Elite Knight kills Med Inf.

**End o turn report**
*Troops are marching on the last 2 Aztec cities on the mainland. It’s up to you if you want to finish those off or make peace, my plans got delayed because I had to run around Arabs, Carthagians, Americans & even Zulu clogging up my roads.
*Arabs & Americans have Education & Chemistry, I think we can take out the last Aztec cities in 2-3 turns. Spend 3-4 turns or so healing, repositioning troops, & bringing in reinforcements; then attack the 4-5 Arabian cities around, make peace for those techs, by then our deals will be over with Carthage(9 turns left on RoP). That’s my wishful thinking for the next guy, but you saw how I got delayed. However I do think it’s doable, my Mountain Pass road is set to be finished in like 8 turns or so, the Arabian cities are newly founded, small & corrupt. Not to mention we can’t lose that Spices Colony!

Good luck!

Now the depressing news........
sad.JPG

Good turns Gengis! I'm glad your RNG luck changed for a while. Getting Leo's will be important.

I think we might want to start thinking genocide. When we go to war, we knock them down for point stick research. Then 20 turns later eliminate that civ. Unless they are nice and stay in their playpen like Shaka has.

Oh, another idea => the next time we go to war, let's bring Shaka in as an ally. Maybe he might get wiped off the face of the earth.

I don't know about bringing Shaka in as an ally. I think we want to save him for last to get killed. He's had only 2 cities for forever, and does not pose the expansion threat that every other civ (hopefully not the Aztecs any more) pose to us now. And when he dies, someone else will just constantly resettle his lands. If we can, I would say leave Shaka til the end; he's practically dead already.

I think the answer is to get Arabia and Carthage to fight each other. That way they're expending their energy on each other and not on constantly resettling the land in front of us. Either that or it's time for the largest worker land-blockade ever constructed by man (or machine). :D

Nice job Gengis. :)

I agree on that, pin, we should try to get the AI out of our conquered area somehow. This is starting to be a nuisance.

Well done, Gengis!

This gonna happen when two of the most agressive AI's start near each other. But it would called deity or sid when they were really efficient, and i doubt we would try this variant under these conditions ;)

Now the depressing news........picture

??? Sorry, dont see the depressing news. After long staring at the picture: Do you mean those carthagian cities ready for razing to get some techs? :devil2:

Got it.

May play tonight, otherwise expect dispatches PM.

Nice job, yoshi and ol' GK1 AW buddies. All that carnage with only 24 effectives.

I agree with yoshi. Raze and repeat.

Aztecs, Arabs, Cartago delenda est is the right order I think. Involving anybody else would take them out of settler production mode and they would be building troops instead.

But, the Civ gods and goddesses act a lot like the Greek dieties in Homer. Just when you think you're on a roll, somebody gets offended because you slaughtered the wrong cow and orders up either a storm or an earthquake and wrecks your boat or your army, or a big snake strangles your soothsayer. Good thing this is a panagea map, we don't have to deal with Neptune.

<The Save>

660AD

Push some citizens around at Entremont and squeeze 20spt net at 24fpt and 33gpt.
Alesia will need some mining done to get to the same place but I think it can be done. Switch knight to pike to get another MP in place in 1.

Wake up Gallic's LS and send him north to join the forces against Xochchalco.

I want to end this war soon and go hit the Arab villes that sit oh so temptingly in the face of our advancing troops.

Peace treaty with Shaka expires in 790AD
RoP with Hannibal in 750AD
PT with Abe in 770AD

No other items of consequence in diplomacy screen.

Hannibal comes calling wanting to trade gems for incense

Abe plants Cleveland defended by a knight in front of healing knights guarding the Aztec penisula. Cleveland is another iron source for him.

Entremont finishes Leo's and a mine, gets to 22spt.

Alesia gets its pike, shift a bunch of citiznes at Alesia to maximise gold and set it to building 2 turn pikes to cover the cats building at Lugdunum. When mining activities finshed at Alesia can switch to knights.

Arabs cascade to Sistines at Damascus.

Arabs are getting restless around Shiraz and Merw and Mosul
Aztec knight wipes out healing knight on peninsula mountain.

T1 670AD
Gallics retreat from Cleveland towards Aztec strike force on west.

Knights in Aztec Strikeforce south move into position.

Workers road mountain and finish mine at Lugdunum. City grows in one, New citizen will become iron miner.

Task Force Shiraz is readied (cats and knights)

Abe has a knight at Lugdunum which makes me a little nervous. An Arab bowman at Mosul threatening the spice colony is doing the same.

Task Force West needs reinforcement (2 Gallics and a knight) before attacking)

Arab longbow attacks TaskForceWest and dies Knight loses 1hp

T2 680
Task Force West shifts position to join arriving Gallics on hill.

Task Force South attacks at Atxcapotzalco. Reg spear defeats elite knight, no casualties, no promote. Vet knight kills spear, revealing another spear, takes slight casualties. Third knight burns city and captures three slaves, knight is unwounded.

Start mining operations at Alesia.

T3 690

Taskforce Arabia shifts to rubble on north side of river to cover arriving cat.

Healing troops in Task Force West.

Aztec lose a knight against spear guarding workers in mountains.

T4 700
Task force West attacks
Vet knight kills pike, redlined, reveals spear. Elite Gallic takes city, no baton. We burn town, get one slave and one gold.

Monte will give three towns, one with the Great Lighthouse, leaving him with two on the peninsula, 22g and his maps. Done. And the three towns burn to the ground.

Alesia' s workers finish mining operations and the city gets to 20spt

T5 710
Start repostioning troops to Incense colony and spice colony., both are adjacent to Arab cities.

Abe has a settler ready to claim his saltpeter in the old Aztec lands and for some reason he ignores it and moves north.

T6 720
Positioning troops at Mosul and Merw
Abe plants San Diego on tile north of saltpeter

T7 730
Postiotning and healing troops

T8 740
Reposition troops at Shiraz for better attack positioning. Force at Merw is almost complete

Terrain improvements are done in all three cities which are now at 20spt in two and 10spt in the other. Workers at Entremont are ganged to run roads in mountains to give us more routes to horses and iron.

Arabs start Copernicus

T9 750
Gathering troops for AttackArab

Task Force Merw will need a a few more turns to finish healing up as Abe kept blocking the road to the colony.

I was going to write detailed campaign plans but then realized that the next better player is more than competent to waste the Arabs.

Have fun pindicator.

Attention should turn to the Carthagninians just as soon as the Arab towns are gone. Taking Sulcis should pull saltpeter into our borders, complete with road.

We had a panagea map in DI1. We're still cleaning up island settlements there.

True, but that was the lamest Gea I've ever seen. It had a freaking Continent in there that 2 Civs started on.

We really should get those AI's from resettling those cities... How about slave blokades? :D

Nice job, Bede. :)

Looking good bede.:hammer:

Well done, brother Bede :)

We really should get those AI's from resettling those cities... How about slave blokades?

Hmm, i like this hammer zone for research, it also burnes resources of the civs who constantly resettle the area. When we do a blockade we maybe could turn to the east. But then most ai hate us enough to declare, so it would not be advisable to relocate our military. Since the big three mainlands (arab, carthago, america) are quite far away, the hammer zone is the best place where we can go leader fishing and do some pointy stick research.

But we can't let the AI get to powerful, or they'll hammer us away like ashes from a fireplace, as a 3CC we can't let the AI get too strong.

Shouldn't that be sweep us away, maybe blow us away even??;)

Seems like my thought got cut away and I started a new one...:crazyeye:

Maybe I really should read my posts before I send them...

Brute force and awkwardness will be more effective than finesse at this point. Concentrate the troops in the mountains around the incense colony and whomp on the uppity ones as they appear. If we can keep them off the plains then the other options they have are really unattractive.

Arabs and Carthage need whupping now as their towns in the battlegrounds are getting large.

Abe's drifting settlers across our territory onto the south coast and into the Mongol lands, which is not such a bad thing if he gets tied up in a cat fight with the Khan. Thing to look out for is an alliance beween those two.
