Ank06 - 3CC Conquest

forgot to post.... :splat: :spank:

but here it is
Buffalo's Bane

Ank06 50AD
It looks like hot knife through butter time

Buffalo, Chicago, then west.

Look at the map shows Abe with no city beyond pop6 except his capitol and as near as I can tell no iron.

So archers and spears are what I expect to find.

Mongols have no horses or iron, so Keshiks are long way away.

Abu has Feudalism but no Iron.

Otto has no horses or iron.

Carthage has both and will pay us 138g for Republic :hmm:

Aztecs have both and will pay us 66g for Republic.

Trade it out to both and use the proceeds to open an embassy with Germany, Arabia and Carthage. Long term plan is to sacrifice a Gallic or an archer in an attack on the Mongols then get Otto to join the party.

Turns out Otto is building the GreatLib and has only 15 turns left.

Ank06_001.jpg

Next step is open an embassy with Carthage and see if he'll join the party against Abe. Hannibal wasted no time going into anarchy. As he wants most of the treasury give him the boot from the FO.

Ank06_002.jpg

Aztecs have wasted no time either starting their revolt towards Republic.

Open an embassy with Abu and ask him to play instead. He's just as greedy so he gets shown the door.

Americans start SunT in Atlanta and found New Orleans in the face of our archer/spear pair in S

T1 70
Slaves head back towards core and out towards America.
Elite warrior slays American warrior wandering around S.
Catapault and Gallics form up at Chicago.
Gallics take hill above Buffalo.
Archer and spear fortify on hill above New Orleans to await approaching Elite Gallic.
Wounded Galiics fortify on high ground to heal.

Carthginians show up with NuMerc/settler in middle of Zulu lands.

More American settler/spear pairs show up in west

GA ends.

T2 90
Manuever troops at Chicago, New Orleans and Buffalo. Pillage road at Buffalo.

Zulu start GreatLib.

First American MDI shows up out of Houston. Guess he has iron somewhere, though I can't find it

T3 110
Cat throws big stone at Chicago and wounds sole spear in garrison, elite GS attacks and Chicago burns, GS lightly wounded.

Archer attacks at New Orleans and kills warrior. Spear shows up in garrison. Gallic waits reinforcement from south.

T4 130
Cat takes shot at MDI in hills and misses. Gallics form up on hill

Battle of Buffalo
First Gallic kills spear, no casualties, no promote. Second Gallic takes city and one slave and wins promotion to elite.

Force at New Orleans reinforced. Attack in two turns.

American settler/spear pair is walking into trap.

Another American MDI shows up from San Francisco heading toward rubble of Chicago
Third MDI shows up at the rubble of Buffalo

T5 150
Cat takes shot at MDI and misses.
Vet Gallic kills MDI, wounded, no promote. Elite Gallic attacks second MDI, forced to retreat, crippled. MDI unhurt, unpromoted. Gallic vet slays MDI, crippled, no promote. Remaining healthy Gallic moves to cover.

Trap sprung on American settler spear pair fails. Gallic severely wounded, retreats.

Gallic elite attacks New Orleans, village burns, no promote.

Gallic vet killed wounding MDI at Buffalo. Elite Gallic finishes MDI.

Abe will talk peace but I want to find his iron source.
Elite Gallic at Buffalo retreats from MDI

T6 170
Healing troops

Elite Gallic kills warrior escaping from New Orleans, no promote.

MDI attacks Buffalo's Bane and dies, Gallic promotes.

T7 190
Healing and reforming
Hannibal plants a town in former Zulu plain south of rally point.
Aztec sword andsettler show up at site of Chicago.

Abe now has monarchy and will include it and montheism in peace deal. I think his counter is pretty much over, temporize.

T8 210
Healing and reforming

T9 230
Monarchy is generally known.
Kill another American MDI in west but lose Gallic to a warrior.
Horseman kills American spear and collects two more slaves.

T10 250
Healing and reforming.
Moving westward as troops heal.

Aztecs and Arabs are moving settlers eastward.

Aztecs have founded Tula in ruins of New Orleans.

We can get Monarchy Monotheism and 40g for peace with Abe but nothing else. Abe has learned Engineering.

Recommend we press on unless Abe mounts a more determined counterattack as we get closer to his capital. Still haven't located his iron source. It may be he's buying it from somebody.

Looking good, can we get a screenshot of the damage?

We saw this in DI1. The AI keeps resettling a area after you clear it. I think it may be in our best interest to press a war as long as possible and even destroy the civ. Otherwise we are going to be constantly reconquering an area.

Maybe beat them back to their worst city, like we did the Zulu. That way we'll still get the techs & it will take them awhile to build up to be able to start a settler flood. 20 turns later we can finish them off........ if they don't have any new techs that is.:mwaha:

I agree. The situation we put the Zulu in is perfect. They aren't going to grow much. They don't have any resources. And they can be quickly knocked off later.

I think we need some MAs to keep Abu and Hannibal from growing too big. Last weekend I watch the Ottomans in my Epic 40 game try to wage war. The AI is so inefficient that it is :rotfl: A war will tie them up for a while.

And last week I watched the Ottos and the other guys run right over my little realm. Knights and MDI against warriors just didn't cut the mustard.

Yes, we need to get the AI into a war. Or preferably, all of them into one big war noone can solve, they weaken themselves & we come and clear the rubbish away. :D

Let'd bring Abu and Hannibal into our fight.

Let's reduce Abe down to a single city - St. Louis. Or maybe St Louis and Miami.

:cringe: Oooooo. Sorry to hear that.

Looks like we can get to the objective of reducing him to a couple of little villes, it's a long way to Atlanta from mid-continent.

We'll have to hit Abe pretty hard to get the other guys in. They just don't want to play with an 800lb gorilla.

I think we should stay out of an alliance against Abe if it's possible. If we keep taking cities at this pace we'll want to get some techs out of it long before 20 turns from now. Plus if the Arabs/Carthage gets involved & starts razing/taking cities it means a bigger empire for them, as it stands now they have a long walk through America or the mountains & jungles to the south before being able to make some new cities.

250AD, Inherited Turn
Everything looks fine, hit enter.
IBT - Aztecs settle in the middle of our road network. They are the ones I am worried about profiting from all of our ground-clearing, but there is no suitable opposing AI to embattle them with.
Entrement: Gallic -> Gallic.

260AD, Turn 1
Wanted to pit Arab and Carthage against each other, but they must be trading because they both refuse to do so.
We didn't have an embassy with Azteca. They're big enough that I decide it's worth the gold.

ank06-260ad-aztec_embassy.jpg

Aztecs will have GLib in 4, and only one horse source but it's by their capital (of course, of course), so their's no hope of cutting that off quickly.
And the Aztecs also refuse to go to war with anybody else. Where did all these hippie civs come from?? :hammer:
Looking at Azteca in all earnest, I believe they should be our next target. They have a number of small cities outside of their core, but they can also be easily blocked off at the landbridge to their capital. We weaken Azteca, banish them to their homelands, and set up a guard to keep them there. Just some  for thought.

Healing the troops for a further push into America.
IBT - Crap, I did not know the workers were that much in danger! An American MDI captures and disbands them.
Washington D.C. completes the Great Library. Is it allowed to capture and abandon this city or must that wonderful wonder burn?
Everyone who can begins Sun Tzu's.
Arabia and Aztecs settle more towns.

270AD, Turn 2
Elite Gallic kills American MDI, -3HP no promo.
Heal and position troops
IBT - 4 American MDIs appear on the northern road. If that's where they are counter-attacking then our troops are very much out of position.
Alesia: Gallic -> Gallic.

280AD, Turn 3
Vet Horse redlines vs MDI and retreats, no damage done.
Elite Gallic kills MDI, -1HP no promote
Vet Gallic redlines vs MDI and retreats, no damage done.

Wow, my RNG sucks.

Vet Gallic kills MDI, -1HP and promotes. That's better
3 Gallics advance on New York. May have to pillage a road or two as well.
IBT - Carthage wants us to leave his lands. Well maybe you shouldn't have settled there then! :P
American MDI loses to Gallic, -1HP
American MDI redlines Gallic which retreats.
Aztecs and Arabs have a RoP as I see Arabs using roads where they shouldn't be.
Lugdunum: Horse -> Horse

290AD, Turn 4
Buffalo's Bane flawless kills an MDI. I knew he had it in him!
Redlined Gallic to the north (they're all redlined up there) pillages the road and runs.
3/5 Gallic kills Warrior, -1HP no promote.
Nobody will still fight each other. The cheapest to enlist against America is Carthage (350g + WM).

300AD, Turn 5
With New York defended by a Pike on a hill, I will not attack unless the Cat connects first. So I fortify.
Dancing with Arabs sure is fun.
Troops move onto mountain east of Houston. As soon as they heal, they'll attack.
IBT - Entrement: Gallic -> Gallic

310AD, Turn 6
Carthage can now be bought into America for WM + 312g... still too rich for me.

Catapult connects!
Elite Gallic kills Pike in New York without a scratch.
Elite Gallic kills Spear in New York, -2HP
Vet Gallic kills MDI in New York, and we are rewarded with 3 slaves.
Abe will give us Mono, Fued, Eng, 5g, and 3gpt to leave them alone. After I burn Houston I'll think about it.
IBT - Abe wants to talk. Abe, we just talked, go gossip with someone else!
MDI kills the Gallic that burned New York, but redlines itself.
Arabs found Bukhara very close to Lugdunum.

320AD, Turn 7
Okay, nobody wants to fight... still. Looking at the F4 screen, I see why. Everyone seems to have an RoP with everyone else. Or a trade. Aztecs, however, don't have anything with Carthage except a peace treaty. Perhaps its a relatively recent treaty then.
Elite Gallic kills redlined MDI, no loss.
Elite Gallic redlines and retreats vs Spear in Houston, -1HP to Spear
Elite Gallic kills Spear in Houston, -3HP.
Elite Gallic kills Spear in Houston and the city burns. 2 weakling Americans decide to pay eternal homage in return for their lives.
Northern troops, now refreshed, move to assault San Fran next turn.

Decide to round out the embassy-building.

Mongol's cost 38g:

ank06-260ad-mongol_embassy.jpg

Zulu's cost 41g:

ank06-260ad-zulu_embassy.jpg

IBT -
America has knights. One redlines our Gallic before dying. I'm tempted to pull the plug on the war now, but will see how much farther I can go first.
2 MDI's attack out of San Fran. -1HP and a promotion is all they can give us before staining the grass with their blood.
Settler pair sneaks up near the ruins of Houston.
Alesia: Gallic -> Gallic.

330AD, Turn 8
4/5 Gallic redlines pike at San Fran but dies.
4/5 Gallic redlines then kills Spear at San Fran.
3/4 Gallic redlines then kills pike at San Fran. 2 more American fools are enslaved. Now that the northern road is again in our control, I send workers to repair it.
Heal up remaining troops.
IBT - Lugdunum: Horse -> Horse
Barbs show up on the spices to the south.

340AD, Turn 9
Elite Gallic kills settler pair, -2 HP +2 slaves.
Healing away...
IBT - MDI redlines Gallic, which retreats.

350AD, Turn 10
Elite Gallic redlines vs MDI and retreats.
Elite Gallic flawlessly beats Spear.

For all the killing, my ratio was 19 kills to 2 losses -- not counting slaves gained or lost.

I'm going to leave it there for now, basically cause I am feeling a little in over my head here. I don't know whether to press on (which perhaps I was too conservative with) or sue for peace.
I would sue for peace, however I'm not sure whether we should trade for some base MA techs first, to see if we can get anything else out of Abe. Theology is known (I think) and I know Invention is known.
Abe will give Fued, Mono, Engr, 77g, 6gpt, and WM for us to leave him alone. He probably would throw in some higher techs. We can buy Fuedalism and Monotheism if we want to try to get Chivalry and Theology from him. Or buy Engineering and hope he has Invention. The problem is that we can probably only buy two techs, and more than one will probably take all the money we have.

So here's to someone smarter than me to figure this out.
