Looks like an excellent plan. Just be gentle with the Gallic SoD, I'm still hoping for a couple to play with.;)

Does that mean your going to war before a government change?
 
I thought we were gonna hold off on the war until the Monarchy switch. We are close to monarchy as is, are we not? Have not looked at the save yet, and I don't remember off the top of my head.
 
Waiting for monarchy would mean another ~30turns delay. Thats really close to the knights age. Waiting for it would completly obliterate our UU.
 
Very true, I didn't realize we were that far off.
 
I think we're going to be stuck with a despotic GA. That's OK.
 
Only alesia won't profit much from the production boost of the GA, because it works mainly BG or mined cows. The other two cities get mostly one shield per square, so there will be a noticeable production boost.

Preflight – 330 BC – Things look good. No IBT since Ankka already pressed enter.
See if I can extrort Literature from Shaka. Can’t so I declare war.

1. 330 BC - @ Intombe – Elite GS kills reg Impi (-3 hp) – Our GA begins.
Vet GS kills the next Impi and Intombe is sacked.

@ Bapedi: 4/4 GS kills 3/3 Impi and we sack the city. This is going better than I thought.

Bismark has literature, but doesn’t have currency. Sell him currency for lit, WM & 8G.

IBT – Abe demands 19G & TM. If I didn’t just start kicking Shaka’s butt, I’d tell him where to put his demand.

2. 310 BC – Maneuvering.

IBT – Lugd: Horse=> cat

3. 290 BC – More Maneuvering. Approaching Zimbabwe. Lack of roads are hurting.

Science comes down 10% saving 3 gpt.

IBT – Watch an impi kill a barb. Our GS kills two barb horses and promotes to Elite.
Entre: GS=> GS
Aztecs build Lighthouse

4. 270 BC – Our GS is killed by a reg impi on flatland. GA for Shaka.

Science down another 10%.

We’re now within striking distance of Zimbabwe.

Since construction is due next turn. I can now buy it from Carthage for our WM and 7G.
I turn around and sell it to the Mongolians for 24G & WM. That’s a nice deal. :D

Select Monarchy at min due in 40. The best we could do and stay positive was 36 turns. :p

IBT – An Impi approaches Lugd.

5. 250 BC - @ Zimbabwe – 4/4 GS kills 3/3 Impi (redlined)
4/4 GS killed by 3/3 Impi (redlined & promotes)
4/4 GS kills 2/4 Impi (-1hp) We raze Zimbabwe and the Oracle.

@ Lugd: Kill elite Impi with GS (-2hp)

Abe and Arabs know Republic. Bismark drew Monotheism as his free tech.

Now that Shaka has lost his capitol, he will talk. We can get peace and Republic, but no cities to raze.

I will need to heal for a turn or two here. I appears that the Zulu are going to step off their mountains and try and attack us. We have a nice killing zone.

I need to decide how to go after Tugela and Hlobane. From My present location I can get to either city in three turns. In need to decide whether I should split my forces and go after both at the same time or work my way around the clock.

I'm thinking I need to reevaluate my campaign plan at this point. Any input is welcome.
 
If you can take Shaka's capitol, he'll be reduced to living with the mountain goats and the Yeti.

Its quite unlikely that we will get cities with iron for peace anyway, so i think we need to burn some more cities before he hands us some more over to burn down :devil2:

A split could be possible. Both iron cities are size on, with only two defenders at most, i suppose. Also both on grassland, right?

Getting his capital would be a nice bonus eighter. And the Yeti's would be gratefull ;)
 
Bede - I think you are right. Going after Mpondo here may be a much smarter thing to do, than going after the iron cities. Shaka isn't going to have the workers to hook up the iron (18 worker turns) and he isn't going to have the productivity (even in GA) to build much in the two iron cities.

Maybe I leave a holding force at the ruins of Zimbabwe, or even place a unit on a mountain overlooking the two iron cities while I march on Mpondo and Isandle.

The lack of roads in the former Zulu lands slows us down.
 
Yeah, tell our enemies to build some roads to speed our conquest something up ;)

But now back to resource denial. We can't prevent that nearly everyone has iron. But how about iron AND horses. Don't have a look at the save right now, but maybe there are some candidates. Would be great when we could be on of the few with fast units.
 
Mpondo and Islandawana and Ulundi and Shaka will have two mountain villages and a ski resort left. Can't do much about resettlement from there, which means Abe and the Arabs will start pouring out settlers onto those plains and grasslands.

Nice fat juicy settlers, prime slaves.

Zulu Campaign part II

First I'll plant a unit on each of the red dots for worker suppression.

Second, I can gather a force from Ludg, and head south. Probably get there in time for the next player to sack Swazi.

Gather up the main force and head west to to capitol (after healing of course.)
