Ank06 - 3CC Conquest

Anyone object to me going to war with someone other then Mongolia?

Zulus is down to the 2 cities I left them.

Abe.

Mongols aren't & won't be a threat for a while, they just got their 3rd city on my 7th turn. They don't have Fued or Mono so they're a long ways from getting their Koshics. And even in about 40 turns when they do, we have a nearly perfect wall of mountains between us that we can fort some pikes on & let them impale themselves. Plus I think a German/Mongol war is inevitable.

Abe on the other hand, has alot of land(and great land at that), has warriors/settlers everywhere, we're stronger then him, and he just got Fuedalism(in addition to having Mono). I think we should knock him back a few pegs while our Gallics will still be effective against him. Before he mass produces pikes, with Knights right around the corner for him.

And mostly I don't want to pay for our techs & he's presenting us with the perfect opportunity for some "pointy stick." Not to mention our unit support is burning a whole in our coffers so we need to use them, not treck across the continent.
 
Concur.

The mountains, the deserts, and the barbarians will take care of Mongolia, not to mention the Germans.

Abe or Abu are far more deserving of our attentions.
 
Well, I've been helping them out with the Barbs for promotions & loot. But ummm, they still have the mountains & desert!;)

Just wanted to post my reasons & get at least one person agree before I veered off the flight path.

In keeping with my recent tradition(since I got my photo shop running again) its.......... a picture book! Trouble is I have to split it into multiple parts. Oh the pains of artistic genius!

Flight Check- So far so good, looks like I’ll need a turn or two to heal come beat up troops then back to the pounding.

Military: 4 workers, 1 warrior, 1 archer, 3 spears, 1 horse, 2 cats, & 11 gallics. Who needs combined arms when we have Gallics??
Strong compared to Mongols, Germans, & Zulu. Average compared to Aztecs, America, & Arabia. Weak compared to Carthage.
I’ll probably be joining our workers into cities or disbanding them for shields, since we’re over our cap & have a steady stream of slaves coming in.

Change Entremont from Gallic to market. Don’t know how much longer our GA will last & I want to take advantage of the bonus shields to get it out quick. Not to mention if it’s still ongoing for a couple turns after we get it that will help out our treasury quite a bit & we need the extra content for the growth in 4.

Marvel at our cities for a bit. So perfect, 3 cities with a lux inside each border. It’s like the map was designed for a 3CC.

It just happened to be on top of some lovely spices. Workers in Lug start a road south to our new spices.:D

Slaves continue roading west(our workers out of the stack start heading home).

Wounded Gallics stay where they are & heal.

IT Zulus plead for peace.
Barb horseman attacks our Gallic outside his camp, he kills it & promotes. I absolutely love XCC games, so many wonderful gold-bearing walking promotions everywhere.

T2 (110)- Gallic in east takes out barb, leave the camp with just a warrior in it.
Nothing new Diplomacy wise.

Abe has troops running around everywhere. It’s looking like it’s almost about that time.

T3 (90)- Done healing, gallics head south. More barbs scampering about to the east.
Abe now has Mono as well.

T4 (70)- Put a scientist in Entremont for a turn, research off.
Gallic takes out barb camp, -3hp. He’s heading west now & I have an Vet Gallic to replace him with.

Send 4 slaves home, leaving 3 to finish our road west.

T5 (50)- Elite Gallic kills Imp flawlessly.
El Gallic kills Impi, -1hp. Looks like my worries about Gallic vs Impi combat were way overblown.
Vet gallic killed by impi, -2hp but it promotes. I had to say something.

I’m going to take out Hlobane, then sue for peace leaving the Zulu with 2 cities. Umtata has nothing in it’s 21 besides hills, mountains & a jungle(it would take them clearing the jungle before it could ever grow beyond size 2.) Ngome(which will become the cap) will be slightly more productive, not much tough. However I want that city to expand & grab up all 3 spices, so another Civ that can actually use them won’t get them(as far as I can see there’s only 1 single spice in all the land west of there).

Vet Gallic kills of an archer that though about breaking for our undefended Alesia.

Research back to 10%.

We take 9g & Republic for peace with Shaka. He offered Umtata as well, but he can keep it.

T9 (30)- Gallics healing, Biz starts Sun’s.
Biz, Abu & Abe all have Fued. Gotta give Biz a giant :thumbsup: for being the tech leader with only 2 cities(Hamburg is so bad it doesn’t even count).
Troops turn around & head towards America. (I’ve really been doing this for the last 3 turns or so, knowing it wouldn’t take much to grab that last city).

IT More of Abe’s cronies running around.

T10 (50)- I posted my reasons, so I won’t go into them again & I know it breaks the “cardinal SG rule” and all but……… I’m mounting up the troops on my 10 turn, setting everything up, & leaving the fun stuff for Bede. No need to thank me.;)

Politely ask Abe if he’d like to let us “borrow” his 39g. No? Sorry to hear that ol’ buddy.

*Entremont with a bit of MMing can produce a Gallic every 3 & still grow 2 food per cycle(until our GA ends that is), I’d send the first one produced back east. I’ve been able to smack off barbs with enough regularity over in that stretch of land to gain a promotion every 3 turns or so(plus a bit of cash). So every time another one is produced, my wounded Elite Gallic is on his way back to heal then go to the front line.
*I’ve got a bunch of slaves almost back home, Entremont & Lug(especially) need some work. We also need a road south from Lug to those spices. After Alesia gets it’s market you can add some of our home grown workers to there.

And one more picture just cause I’ve never seen a defensive line this good. If they break through the first, we have a fall back line…………… and another one. With a complete line of flat ground behind the second to attack anyone that slips though. I almost wish there was a strong opponent over there so we could have some fun with it.

In fact, of all your lines on the last picture i like the purple one most. Great defense bonus and an incredible killing zone. But your right, its not likely we need a defensiv line on this side ;)

I dumped the beggining of a promising war in your lap(coupled with a few turns of our Golden Age), I don't think having fun will be a problem.:D

[think I forgot to mention but we need quite a few of the new slaves we get to head back to our core. All our cities will need some terrain changes once our GA ends & then again some more in preparation for Anarchy.]

I don't think we're going to need to make use of those mountains very much. I think we will be able to roll over Mongolia and Germany in rapid succession.
