Anno Domini beta : test it and feed back here!!

I need to also fix the new European swordsman attack sequence; his feet sink and shirt rips. I'll do that and fix the chakra thrower .ini today and upload the patch. It's a shame that's all there's to report....unless you're all busy playing the mod....

ME love mod me play all day.-to much civ make me crazah :crazyeye:
ONe thing, the pedia is missing discription button for honey and clay and some other things.

One dif from Middle Age Mod in regards to pedia quality is that the units discripts are not filled out yet. I wish I knew more about the warriers I hire/build
Other then that, (i imagine that part is skippable) this mod is very fun to play and I lookforward to playtesting some more
Goodnight

So you want to know more about the "European tool age spearman" etc? I know that the civilopedia is missing a few entries, but come on...it's been a lot of hard work to get it where it is now. Surely if you need to know about honey and clay, you can look it up on the internet ;) .

There`s a DEBUG mode for a reason :)

I don't see how the debug mode can help you in any way in this aspect.

This way you don't run into unit bugs in the middle of your joyfull game. With the debug mode you still have to wait untill the AI builds them, and you can never be sure that all units are even created at some point.

Rob take my advice. Before you release an update always make a little map with all the units preplaced. That way you can correct any unit bugs before they hit your testers.

;)

edit - Like this one for MEM http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/21878/MEMunitlineup.jpg
That's great advice; thank-you.

There will be a small patch uploaded tonight. This will include the corrections alluded to earlier in the thread. I've also noticed a little problem...er...some Anno Imperii units can't be built. I've made them buildable with charcoal...which doesn't show on the map until Anno Domini. This has now been corrected.

The patch will include updates to the civilopedia (including the resources ;) ) and gameplay tweaks, such as slight changes to the yield of a couple of resources. I'm currently working on the gameplay information pages, changing them to suit Anno Domini. You can now draft units when you research armour and mobilize with the advent of military training.

Thanks for the feedback so far; don't forget that the reason I've posted it here and not the completed modpacks section is that it is still a work in progress, though (hopefully) not much more needs to be done, just some tweaking and maybe a couple of units adding (such as those Indian units Plotinus is working on).

Oh, and the "Chola" page has now been added to the website ;) . Anyone looking at that, by the way?

Yo Rob, you've outdone yourself again with this one. Yeah OK, some glitches here and there, but that's normal with such a titanic task.

Downloaded it last night and can't wait to play it this weekend (oh my poor wife won't like you!) ;)

BTW, I like your website... once you've got everything on there it'll be a great reference.

I love the exotic direction this mod is going in. Thanks for your hard work Rob!

Are you excited as I am about the Golden Warriors!

Yes IM excited to, but please include their pedia discpt so I know who they are and what they do! :ninja: ;)

YA IM joking of course ROb. I can live with only units left out. Remeber this edition is much more expanded then the original mod and I went on praising that 'Classic' for 100's of posts atleast-(not counting in 4ums :) )

Everything looks great, Rob. I haven't had a chance to download it yet, so I'm downloading it now. I can't wait to try out the Chola and the Serbs. Its always fun trying out different methods of gameplay.

The website, by the way, looks very nice and will be a great resource for all players once it is completed. I especially like how you have included images of the various wonders and units, as this cannot be obtained from the civilopedia without viewing a bunch of different pages. Having them all in one place is very helpful. My main advice would be to add as many of the graphics as possible - even if you have to use thumbnails.

I've been playing a game as Florence, and I've notice that the civilopedia entry says that the "Rome can build..." or something like that. I'm not sure if the new patch has corrected this, but I thought I'd let you know anyways.

Finally, an off topic question that I wanted to ask: How do you pick the civs for the mod? Is there something specific you look for? Just a casual question really. With so many civs, I was wondering how you had come to pick these.

The nation of "Chola"? That's hilarious! Ah, around here a "Chola" is like a female Cholo (basically a Mexican gangsta)
:rotfl:
:coffee: Sir, our people are in awe of the Cholas' culture.
:faint: In awe...? Gangster culture...?*Faints*
:joke:

The promised patch v1.04 has now been posted in post one, with a full list of changes in post two. Check it out - gameplay has been tweaked and you'll either love it or hate it. Some civilopedia updates too :) .

My game as Sparta first went quite good....until I realised the random placement really screwed me! I'm going to start another game as the Spartans with hopefully better results (and I'm not being picky...I was surrounded by desert and marshes on all sides).

Something I noticed so far:

When looking at the civilopedia entries of the civs, I've noticed that the basic information is given first and then the statistical advantages, etc. I'd prefer it to be the other way around, because it is a bit annoying that it always flips back to the "informational part" after checking out a civ-specific advantage and pressing the back button. If that didn't make much sense, I'll try to explain what I mean step by step:

- I click to activate a civ's civilopedia entry, in this case Sparta
- First thing I see is the historical information
- Upon pressing the more button on the right, I am linked to the civ-specific strengths and advantages, i.e. UU, prefered governments, civ stats, etc.
- When pressing on one of the links to see what the exact advantages of a certain strength, unit, improvement, government, etc. are, I press the back button to return to the civ's civilopedia entry
- I am returned to the historical information rather than the civ-specific strength page, meaning I have to repeatedly press the "more" button to arrive at the desired page

I hope that made sense?

Other than that, the environment and civs are stunning Rob! You've done a great job in emercing the player in each civs according culture. Excellent mod so far! :goodjob:

Yaay what a great civepedia day for all us pedia driven mod players :p
Serious all the resources are done to gold standard to meet all the rest.

I even found some good nuggets in the unit category :coffee: To demostrate the historical depth of this mod, Say the average non- historical-versed dude would notice he can build a Athenean Peltast What is that he might say? Well simple click the 'Discription' button and Walaa! :scan:
