Anno Domini - Rise and Fall edition

Anno Domini - Rise and Fall edition 1.0

Hi Canadian_Expat; you need to put it in your mods folder, which can be found in the following location: C:/Users/YourName/Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Mods.

For anyone wondering, YourName isn't the name of the folder along the way, it's whatever your name is on the PC.

I'm intrigued, I've played your other mods with previous versions of Civ and looking forward to trying out the R&F edition.

One question - why can I build fishing boats with Basic Tools, but have to research 6 techs to get Sailing before my builders can embark?

Thank-you!

All the more reason for opening the mod up for testing. It's not something I'd noticed, but you did. I think there needs to be a tech in between the two where both fishing boats can be built and builders can embark - possibly fishing. Thanks for mentioning it.

Do you know how to install the mod if using Steam on a Mac?

I'd love to give this a try...I played your mod years ago in CivIV and loved it, and want to try it again in CivVI.

Hi Min_JaBen, not sure exactly how you'd go on with a Mac, but as the download is hosted here at Civfanatics, I'd imagine you'd simply download it and pop it where the other mods are.

For the record, I did Anno Domini for Civ III and Civ V, but didn't do anything other than a pack of leaderheads for Civ IV.

Hahaha, I've had all of them, so I am probably confusing Civ III and Civ IV in my memory. It was definitely more than just leaderheads.

Thanks for the advice. My problem right now is that I just don't know where the mods would go on a Mac either (not as easy to find those types of things compared to a PC) and how Steam confuses it further. I'll keep poking around for some place that might tell me. Thanks again for the help.

I got it working this weekend and gave it a run on a random map. So far, I really like it! One thing I haven't seen, though, is if there are specific maps to play this on. I'd love to play this on a dedicated Mediterranean map. Is there one out there you'd recommend that would work with "true start locations" as an option?

One thing I saw playing yesterday that I think needs to be fixed was that the Eureka for Wheel is "Mine a resource" but the Mining technology requires the Wheel technology. How is that?

The eurekas have not been modded yet. Anno Domini is a WIP and one I've not been able to devote much time to recently (but that will change!)

Just wanted to chime in and say this is a quality mod. IMO, the best total conversion available. Any reason why this isn't on Steam?

Thank-you. The mod's a WIP which is why it's not on Steam. There are just too many people who are either rude or demanding updates (as I've experienced in the past). I want to wait until it's complete (i.e. we're sure Firaxis has brought out the expansions for Civ 6 and are not going to bring out any more and also I've got Anno Domini where I want it to be).

Hi, I downloaded a couple of weeks ago and the game crashed immediately after clicking start game.
I assumed it was just not updated and moved on.
I see now that there is some activity in the comments and now im thinking there must be some way to get it working.

I have whatever the latest steam update is on civ. I have no other mods installed and I downloaded from the link in the OP.

What else should I do, any suggestions?

I'm not currently actively updating the mod at the moment but I understood that the most recent version worked fine on PCs (not sure about Macs). If you have any other mods added at all, this will potentially cause the crash.

I spent 6 years playing The Ancient Mediterranean mod for Civ 4 and I see that I will spend more time playing Anno Domini.

At this point, I'm playing Rome, large map, marathon speed, 8 civilizations, around turn 650, proconsul difficulty.

I had difficulties in the third age, because the legions and the bath are far ahead in the technological tree, I had not founded a religion and ended in an Dark Age. This is what happens to stupid people who start playing without examining the technological tree before.

I did not find bugs or crashes of any kind. There are a few minor mistakes and I consider that the only way to pay for the great service you've provided by building this excelent mod is by pointing out where small adjustments can be made.

1. The great general Gustavus Adolphus promised me a bombard and gave me nothing ... not even a paper with the inscription: "present this note to a Chinese in a thousand years and he will teach you how to make a bombard". I would be happy with a catapult.

2. There is a small error in the Phalangite combat screen.

3. Throughout the game, whenever I kill any enemy, even a barbarian scout, I get 14 gold coins as a reward. I like to know they carry money in their pockets.

4. After the beginning of the fourth age, cities and military camps began to use gunpowder to defend themselves... maybe Gustavus Adolphus gave them the bombard he promised me. (Yes, I know this is animation of the game itself, but it is strange.)

5. The great generals of more advanced ages are using Jeep to get around. I do not know if it is possible to change that and give them good horses.

6. In the fourth era, the card that increase the production of units of the third and fourth era (Warrior Spirit) is still available although the card that increases the production of units of the fifth era (Military Prowess) is already available.

7. The markets are far ahead in the technological tree and without traders it is reasonably difficult to keep the flow of money in the earliest eras.

8. After I was unjustly denounced, whenever other civilizations talk to me to propose business, the denunciation screen overlaps the negotiation screen.

9. Logswordman has two movements on mountainous terrain. I do not know if this is intentional.

10. For a scientific victory, space colonization projects can be replaced by the Silk Road posts, as was done at TAM.

Overall, the mod is excellent and very accurate historically. No bug that spoils gameplay. I really enjoyed it.

(Sorry for my bad english and do me a final favor: if you find Gustavus Adolphus, let him know that I'm still waiting for my bombard.)

Hi, just tried a cultural win but then got stuck cause there are no archaelogists available. Or have I overseen something?
There is also no university but this could be solved by removing the Eureka for Astronomy.

There aren't any archaeologists available in Anno Domini Civ 5 as far as I remember. Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it and it's great to see that people are still playing the mod - and enjoying it. I'm currently working on the Civ VI version, so I don't see me coming back to amend this version in the near future.

Yes it is! Apologies but I responded first thing in the morning and clearly mixed things up! I'm still not sure about archaeologists though!

3 small contributions:
- Druidic Lore government does not allow buying military units with faith
- Phalangite shows a small error in the combat screen (as already mentioned)
- Liburna's image is wrong

And one question: is there a way to reduce the amount of resources available?
Even sparse, the map is always crowded with copper, horses and luxury.
