[GS] Antarctic Late Summer Patch Discussion Thread

The wall change, and a large majority of the changes in the patch were very good and I think most players including myself are happy about that. I'm just saying that bugs fixes and balance changes more than once an expansion would be nice. Especially for issues that have been around for a long time that have known solutions that a single modder was able to implement. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

One would expect that large companies with teams of coders, designers, and testers would be able fix things more often than a single dude making a mod in his free time. Yeah I know, risk adverse for profit companies are risk adverse and for profit.
I think, to circle back to a reply I made earlier to someone else that yes, Firaxis did do exactly that. The wall change was one of a ton of improvements made in this patch alone. It just meant that the other things fixed up until this point came in higher on the list of priorities, for whatever set of reasons that we're likely to never understand.

Can you link me to a save that demonstrates this? I would like to gather as many examples for the dev team as I can. Thank you!

I will try to send an autosave the next time I get a trade offer like it. Thanks, Dennis!

upgrading all your units cheaply the moment someone declares war on you is not "planning ahead". and you don't need two slots after urbanization.

Synching your civics so you can adopt the policies in one turn then remove on the other and saving gold for the upgrades is what I mean by planning ahead. If you do that when you get a DoW you're reacting, not planning and there's no guarantee you will have a 1 turn civic and the gold to do it in one turn, unless you got a leaf civic that you left behind.
You need two slots before Urbanization, which is obviously the period this change aim to affect. You still have a tier 1/2 government by them, so you don't have so many slots without certain wonders, which make the slots you have quite valuable. By the time you unlock Urbanization, you're getting into late game, when you're supposed to get better tools to close the game if you're winning.

deals are indeed completely out of balance, yes please fix it ASAP

From the patch notes - "Add beards to all remaining leaders that did not previously have beards." Whoot, we now have bearded women. ;-)
The beard will go nicely with Tamar's man-hands. But then again...perhaps...getting a beard has a different meaning completely. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Wasn't there supposed to be a New Worldbuilder tab in the "Additional Content"?
Never mind- Found Dennis' discussing on the non-enable worldbuilder feature:

Integrated, yes, but until we "finish" it, you still have to enable it. Until we get through the rest of the tool (like the Advanced Mode area) and are able to have 2K QA give us a hearty thumbs-up, we don't want to present it as absolutely finished. More work to come, so enable it as stated above, and enjoy the progress made so far, which includes MANY front-end fixes to make loading your new maps super-easy. Bug reports are welcome as usual over in the bug thread. Thanks all!

1. The WorldBuilder (WB) was delivered many months after the release of Civ 6. The WB is definitely one of the main element that players/customers look forward to create scenarios and/or preferred map / resources. After a long delay, the WB was delivered in this patch. However, the WB still lacks advance features. Although it was mentioned that the advance feature are still in work, I feel that the Developer/s are reluctant and/or hesitant to release the full WB packages to the customers. I believe the developer would have been using the WB to test the games. Please, don’t keep delaying as the WB would enable a lot of game customisation.

2. Also noted that the largest map size selectable is ‘Huge’. Seriously, ‘Huge’ map still can’t accommodate all the civilisations in one game. Can’t Firaxis change the map specification to enable map size larger than huge.....maybe huge x 2 (200 x 100).

3. The patch update is definitely nice and has improved the game. The search function has provided greater ease to locate resources/units.

i like the changes to the default civ colors as well. Poland isnt gross red white anymore. Mongolia isnt barbarian colored either. Zulu are brown and white. much better then neon green etc.

It needs to be activated before it will show up:

1) Go to My documents/My games/Sid Meier's Civilization VI and then open AppOptions.txt

2) Find this:

;Enable WorldBuilder.
EnableWorldBuilder 0

3) replace the 0 with a 1.

4) Then, open the game and under additional content you can find a new button to open it on the upper right corner

Tried out deity and played a few games, for current patch , in a game with 12 AIs, more than half will have very little military strength in medieval era (like less than 150 military scores) , usually for deity games(recent previous patch), almost all of them will build lots of troops . Anyone experienced this ? This makes the human player easily pick up the low score enemy and run over them.:undecide:

Fourth, it shows that devs cannot program the AI to properly assess the value of „conquering CS” vs. „being its neighbor”. There would be no need for any artificial fixes if AI would make a good decision about that.

For this point, I'd say I don't think this change was about improving the AI's ability to play - in many cases I think conquering a CS is probably the correct move in terms of AI (or player) benefit

The change was about satisfying players who complain about there not being City States to interact with, especially on higher levels. I.e. it may have made the AI 'weaker' in some regard to satisfy players.

If anyone's interested, I've started a thread for ideas / requests for the next patch...

Top of my list is fixing the RND movement bug.

(... although, actually, it's at the bottom of my list. ...It's a long list. )

  • Mali: Nerf the Mali + City-State + Democracy Combo/Exploit. Democracy is now a 15% discount on purchases with Gold.
Why nerf Democracy because of Mali? If Mali is too strong, we should nerf Mali, not to nerf democracy which have effect on every other civilization.

Can anyone please provide the screenshots from the Civilopedia as indicated in the patch note: "Pillaging Yields are now database driven in the Civilopedia"?

Yes, the game with the new Antarctic Late Summer Game Update is really crazy with the AI pay CRAZY much for stuff... Really, how could this mistake happen ?
