AP Tests

You get 55 minutes for 80 multiple-choice questions and 2 hours and 10 minutes for three essays, one of which is a Document-Based Question. It may sound intimidating, but don't worry, most people I know finmished early on both, and my school's just slightly above average (Compared to California schools, we're a 6/10).

I finished 15 minutes early on the multiple choice and 10 minutes early on the essays. I don't know if that's a good thing, because that meant I should have tried to write more for my essays, but I felt I did a good job of compacting all I knew in my essays and, for my FRQs, I figured out what I was talking about pretty quickly and didn't need much time for planning, so maybe I didn't write too little.

I thought AP US History was ok. I actually didn't have as many concrete examples I would like in my essays, but my ideas were solid and I wrote really well. The multichoice was harder than I thought, but I finished early and I think I can count on at least 75% of the points from that area. The DBQ I thought was real stupid. I looked in both my books and neither of those terms are in it! I couldn't have been less prepared, but I just used logic to explain what I thought would happen and I was right.

As for AP Calc BC, the calculator sections were ridiculously easy. I can't see how I wouldn't get all of them right for the free response and multichoice. They in fact, were pi. Ha! The non calc multichoice was harder than I expected, but I can't see more than 4 wrong. Non calc free response was actually not hard, you just had to have a few key realizations. And, it was short, so I had time to go back to the calculator free responses that were really long. There's no way I'm not getting a 5 on it.

Computer Science I is best left unsaid. I don't know if my school's teacher is just really good(she teaches AP Calc too, and the averages for both tests is a 4.9), but they were basic java questions with simple code and the free responses were almost never more than 6 lines of code.

CIVPhilzilla, Calc was easy? I didn't take the test, but everyone I know who took it was complaining about it.

I felt it was comparable to the three practice tests we took in our calc class. I got a 65, 58, and 76 composite on those three (66 and above is a 5). I know I messed up a couple of parts on the free response, but nothing that would completely derail my score. I also felt the multiple choice was easier than the practice test versions.

Same here. Which questions did you do? I did 4 and 7. (you better have done 7, because everyone who took it at my school picked 7, and we litterally said we would slap anyone who didn't pick 7.)

My essay on number 7 was longer than my DBQ. 4 pages vs 3.5 pages. It wasn't intentional, I just kept thinking of more and more stuff that was really, really good. I also picked 4 too, the others were too faded in my mind to be a good essay.

Took both AP Physics Tests today.

I didn't think they were too bad. I skipped 4 multiple choice on the mechanics and 5 on the Electricity and Magnetism. For the most part Free response was okay except for problem number two on the Electricity and Magnetism exam.

I never skipped a single AP test problem :smug:

The physics were the only ones I have skipped on all the tests I've taken. I was planning on going back to them but ran out of time.

I got done with the MC sections so early that I drew pretty pictures for the test graders. :smug:

I drew a crude picture of the US on mine. :mischief:

I am taking 3 aps next week(US Hist, Chem, Comp Sci AB). Does everybody in the nation get the same test? Because if everyone does then I will know what to study.

Correct. Everyone gets the same test. (But, all of the tests are taken at the same general time, accounting for time zones)

But my school has set up its own schedules for APs, so that when my school takes it may not necessarily be the same time as when everybody else takes it.

If anybody already took the US Hist, Chem, or Comp Sci AP exam, could you please tell me your thoughts on the test? Any information is appreciated.

I used what was in the documents. I did manage to include all but one document. And I did well enough to expect a 7 or 8 on the DBQ test.

Bah! How would they figure out who we are on an internet forum? Just don't put you real name down anywhere, or your address. :p

I didn't mind the multiple choice, although there were too many questions with artists I had never heard of. The best cartoon was the one with the cavaliers and roundheads telling their dogs to attack eachother. "at him, poodle!"

I did essays 3 and 6(so slap me ;) ). 3 was pretty easy, because I could just list everything I knew about the counter-reformation, which happened to be quite a bit. Most people in my class chose that one. 6 was the one about why Russia didn't liberalize in the 19th century, a topic that I also happen to know a lot about. It was kind of difficult, but I had a lot of time left so it was okay.

Well yeah, of course I talked about the test right outside the room with my friends, but you can never be sure...;)

I don't know if you are supposed to take it. It says on the cover that, if you aren't taking the test at a certain time (for AP US it was between 8 and 9 in the morning of May 5), refuse to take the test and contact the office of test integredy or something like that. Not to take these things too seriously, but they definately do (it would suck to have your grade cancelled because your school screwed up).

There is plenty of discussion about tests here (since everyone is supposed to be done). For US History, it was similar to all the practice questions I had taken. The only difference is a few time periods I figure they'd have more questions about on multiple choice. Like I said, the DBQ was hard, but that's just because its a topic that most people don't like.

I'll delurk to answer these questions. I haven't posted in weeks (months?).

Took Bio and Physics C today. It was painful to take two tests in a row, but Bio was so easy that it made up for it. (Score for no lab question!) Physics C was somewhat hard, but I still managed at least a 4, probably a 5. It didn't seem worse than BC Calc, which I took last year and got a 5 on.

I lament once more the fact that my school does not offer non-Science and Math APs.

By the way, I took the US History SAT II today, and they had some of the same questions as the AP test. Same cartoons, same questions - just stupider answers.

I noticed that with AP World and SAT II World last year. I guess College Board is lazy.

I was hoping for jealousy not pride.

But pride's not that bad.

I've drawn on so many AP tests that I can't remember which one went on which. :smug:
