Ara: History Untold

That’s rather disappointing haha
Yeah, but at least it will be in the game at some point. :-) I mean, I almost never use nukes in Civ...they arrive so late in the game that they are essentially meaningless. And yet, if you were to believe the marketing and memes, Civ is basically a game about nuking your opponents.

The only real nuclear war game is "Nuclear War" for the Amiga, by the way.

They did not mention CFC as a forum for ARA. :gripe:
I guess because it's a fan (or at least people who are interested and curious) made initiation, not something they created (like discord, insider forum, etc.). I don't think one can be accountable for not tracking every single subforum of their game :D
Yeah, I noticed that too...I don't know, sometimes I get the impression that they are intentionally avoiding mentioning "Civilization" at any cost, even though it is the most obvious comparison to Ara.
This also makes sense :D (either it is intentional or unintentional)

RE: nukes
It can wait for me. It's better to be great and comes later, than the othe way around. I barely use nukes in Civ, and my TODO list doesn't start with nuking everyone in Ara as well :D

I’m not a nuking fan but I have used them in desperate situations

i wonder what the actual nuke rate use is, maybe that’s part of why they aren’t included in release

实际用于战争的次数只有两次,其他爆炸均属实验。

Moderator Action: translation from google: It was actually used in war only twice, and all other explosions were experiments.

I would hope the Civ VII folks also pay attention to this. In my mind, this is what the single player AI should be like -- and in many cases, "real time adaptive" to the actual player.

It would be great if there was an actual "tuning" file or set of sliders that allowed for a more adaptive AI.

But this is a great start to see -- for me, there are three key things that I want to know before buying this:

1 -- How good is the later game AI

2 -- How unbalanced does the game get later game -- (for example, Civ 6 got horribly unbalanced the longer in the game you go -- the changes being proposed for Civ 7 and the ages may address this in a significant way)

3 -- How many "paths to victory" exist -- if it is the same game to win over and over, I don't want it

So far, my "high bar" here around all of this is Old World.

gamepass shows 43GB for the download. Not sure how accurate that is since the download is not yet active but it sounds like a lot of content for us :cooool:

Yes, Old World did a great job in that regard. 👍

I don't know when I'll play, but I bit the bullet and ordered the deluxe edition last night. Feels closer to the kinda game I want to play with what we have seen

In my experience (as someone who mainly plays multiplayer with friends) nukes end up falling in every game, but usually in the last few turns either as a last-ditch attempt to stop the winner, or just for the fireworks like kids playing godzilla and destroying their lego city when they're done building.

EVERY game? You must have some nuke-happy friends :p

huh?

Also would be nice to go into a forum space and not talk about this all the time. I wouldn't mind if the conversations were thoughtful and educated but they often start with someone saying something rather extreme or lacking in knowledge.

Looks like they're trying to ease the concerns and "criticism" on the non-binary leader. But I'm afraid that wouldn't satisfy anyone. Even may only encourage some haters to continue to attack the game and the leader choices...

I will play as osh-tisch now on my first game (unless I really dislike their leader abilities :P)

Are these the same people who were upset about the entirely optional gay content in Baldur's Gate 3? I'd say ignore them. As far as I'm concerned, there are plenty of real problems in the world, these "culture war issues" are of little interest. For the people who are obsessed with them, I don't think you are going to be able to reason with them anyway.

My suggestion is we just focus on the game. :) It will not be long before the review embargo ends now.
