This thread is for all aspects of the Conflict Rules. Conflict rules allow internal battles between players.

Things you can do in this thread include:
  • Raise or disband troops
  • Order troop movements
  • Declare war
  • Sue for peace or clemency
  • Post battle, assault or defensive plans

All movement and combat take place after each chat turn (called a Conflict Session). When intercepts occur (opposing troops moving through the same territory) a moving battle will occur and the victor will continue while the defeated side stops their movement.

Battle plans can be as detailed as you want. Example: 4 swords move south from Vanir along the road towards Doughnutia. Continue through resistance as long as there are less than 50% overall casualties. Besiege tile # but do not attack unless there is at least 25% numerical superiority left.

The attacking force designates the primary defensive structure for that Conflict Session (what structure will be primarily assaulted). If none is specifically named, the structure with the highest defensive point rating is designated.

Troop Raising times
Mobile troops may be raised from the end of a Conflict session to 24 hours before the next chat.
Garrison troops may be raised from the end of a Conflict session to 12 hours before the next chat.

Troop Movement times
Mobile troops may be moved from the end of a Conflict session to 24 hours before the next chat.
Garrison troops may be moved from the end of a Conflict session to the beginning of the next chat.

Building implementation
Defensive structures must be in place for 24 hours before a Conflict session to be used in that Conflict session.

Movement particulars
Once a movement is posted it cannot be changed.

Plan particulars
Plans may be changed until the beginning of a Conflict session.

Units may be upgraded along normal Civ3 paths for a cost in points of .75 times the unit point difference. Example: A warrior (cost 10) upgrading to a swordsman (cost 30) would cost (30-10) * .75 = 15 points.

Caveat
This is an evolving ruleset and may take some time to get working smoothly. Have patience and have fun! :)

Is this where I opt out? I don't have time and I really don't want to wake up someday to find I've been conquered and vanquished and all that sort of thing.
 
@SAAM - You can buy more points directly or conquer/buy more territory. Defensive works (towers, castles, etc) can raise garrison troops. You also need to say what class of troop you are raising. Prices are the shield price from the actual Civ3 game. (10 for warrior, 20 for spearman, etc.)
 
The House of Aegir is raising a Grand Army.

My points are:

Basic 100
Keep 80
Tower 10
Fortress 20
Plus I'll buy 20 for mobile troops with 400g

The troops I want are:

5 spearmen (garrison)
4 swordsmen (mobile)
 
i will raise 100 points for garrisoned troops in tsort out of its base castle points.
this will make 5 spearmen.
3 are garrisoned at tsort castle.
1 will move south to falcons keep and garrison there.
1 will move north to aegir keep and garrison there (not that tile belongs to me, so grandmaster will not be able to raise troops there. he will have to moove troops into lancre to garrison!)

i will also raise 2 swordmen from my base points (totalling 60 then). both will be stationed at tsort castle at the moment

please also note that 2 catapults are stationed in tsort castle already (baught a long time ago).

so the points i spent are:
100 garrison points at tsort
60 mobile points

the troops are:
aegir keep: 1 spearman
falcons keep: 1 spearman
tsort castle: 3 spearmen, 2 swordmen, 2 catapults


will we be able to upgrade our troops? if yes where/prerequisites?
 
OK, as I'm unsure of how this works.... the troops I have raised are based on my property, not land (I have none) and I am putting them at the service of Lancre and Lord Dis. If they can remain garrisoned in Montebello (my former tile in Lancre) than they shall, if not then they will be stationed where needed in Lancre.

I changed my above orders for the spearmen... as i believe grandmasters troops can be raised and placed in lancre under our controll.

The spearman going to aegir will stay garrisoned in tsort castle.

So our troops are:


tsort castle: 4 spearmen 2 swordmen
aegir keep: 5 spearmen 4 swordmen
falcons keep: 1 spearman
 
I think I want to opt out. The main reason for this is that I don't have any money to defend myself.
Can I still be part of the game in some way? You can hire me:)
 
@Shabba: as pmed you before, you are also hired as "reserve" for lancre. We will hold you out of service as long as possible, but in emergency (e.g. when we are attacked) we would like to call for your service.
 
As we are still figuring out how to actually implement all of the rules and we want to give people sufficient time to opt out, there will be no movement or attacks by troops during tomorrow's chat. The first turn of actual activity will be next Wednesday's chat.

Raising your armies and positioning them on your own lands is perfectly fine.
 
i would propose that mooving around troops in friendly territory (explicitly allowed by the owner) should be allowed, as for example i have to garrison some castles where i cant raise troops directly :-)
