I'm scheduled to take my first Cisco certification exam (CCENT) tomorrow after a few years cert-free, and I was wondering how many geeky folks here have done technical certifications. What do you have, when did you get it, and was it worth the effort?

No, I just got an AS in computer science and moved onto other sciences. I'd think getting a lower level A+ would be too easy though, having built a few computers and read a few builder's books and manuals.

Nope. Still in high school. ;)

EIT(Engineer In Training)certificate. I might get a PE(Professional Engineer) sometime, depending if I ever get to a place that I'll have to sign off on documents.

Never cared for certification in a computer field, but I'm certified in several other technical, non-computer related things.

Nope. I was thinking about getting those Cisco certificates once I'm done with school

way back I once took classes for a MCSE...and in uni I had classes for CCNA, but I never took the exams...so no, I don't really have any of those certificates :)

I'm a certified Java 2 developer! I got it in 2000. I can't tell if it was worth the effort because I don't know if it helped with job hunting. However, it did give me some good knowledge of the inner workings of Java.

I have a CCNA certificate, but I am not really intrested in working with Networks. So I am working towards a degree in computer engineering instead.
