Arioch's Analyst Thread

Well that sucks. Sorry that 2K games are being such jerks about this Azazell. :(

I guess unauthorized promotion of the game is very evil in their eyes. :(

The "game reasoning" is that it's balanced against other options provided, with little concern paid to exactly what the word "socialism" should/does mean in the real world. The meta reasoning is that it's under the "Order" branch and so had to provide some benefit related to reducing costs from social efficiency. The real-world reasoning is hard to determine, because no two people alive today can even agree on exactly what socialism is.

I don't know what the other related social policies do, but as a real world analogy it might have made more sense for socialism to increase happiness. The point of socialism is always to put in more regulations, ensure people are paid more, reduce exploitation, isnt it?

Yeah well, I agree. And as understandable as it is (2k has the right to promote the way it wants), this is this unauthorized promotion that made me actually spend 60€ to pre-order the Deluxe Edition on d2d. And I believe I'm not the only one. Azazell's indirect promotion was a thousand times more effective than official promo (which frightened me more than anything).

Just saying, 2k. Just saying.

EDIT : it may be so that 2k doesn't want unofficial screens of the civilopedia and the tech tree online. Because they're maybe not finished, yet.

I think we can all agree on that. ;) Azazell did the real job on promoting the game 2k.

Most of Azazell's screen shots were of his carvel doing a world tour, ^>^.

Although thier was quite a bit of useful information given, IMO just have your 15 allowed screen shot's those from the civilopedia.

What we picked up from your screen shots is not your fault and that information doesn't have to be removed, I mean we have information from the Closed E3 Demo that wasn't allowed out either, knowledge can't be removed, nor should recordings of this knowledge. Fair enough remove the original over 15 screen shots and any direct copies of them, but 2k won't expect their existence to be forgotten, and writing about knowledge is not forbidden. Arioch has none of your original screen shots hosted, only knowledge from them.

......

Anyway some information for the pot to change the theme of the last few posts :p,

Heal Instantly

An alternative to using an upgrade to upgrade your unit is to simply skip the upgrade to instantly heal the unit, Not sure if this "upgrade" is available from the start, I assume not. No point in upgrading your unit if it will simply die, healing it can be a viable alternative to upgrading. Better to live to fight another day.

Spoiler :

Victory Conditions

Looks like we will be able to easily view how close we are to all the various Victory conditions very simply.

Spoiler :

Rocket Artillery

From this screen shot we can see that some information on the unit on your site Arioch is mistaken.
http://well-of-souls.com/civ/civ5_modern_units.html#rocket_artillery

The ranged strength is 46, not 40. The starting range of the unit is 2, not 3.
If another screen shot had it with 3 range, it may very well of upgraded to that, or a re-balance has changed things.

and lower productivity. Or to equalize happiness - make the unhappy people more happy, and the very happy people less happy.

I would do anything to stand on Azazell's side.
he says he was not warned about the prohibition.

If it was not written in any legal paper when he started doing his review, then he can't be touched!

Everything in from my 150 screenshots. All Units, buildiings, technology - Statistics, details - Everything from Civilopedia.. Because I can be very punished from 2K Games :( . Please time is very important for me [/B]

I have passed on your message to moderators and admins (by PM) of the site. I'm not sure whether senior moderators have the permission to delete the images, but junior mods like myself sadly don't. It will hopefully be fixed very soon.

I'm not so confident of that.

I think the way it works now, you're assumed to be doing a tradeoff between one social policy and another, so choosing Socialism would mean you're not getting the benefits from a free market, etc., and that wouldnt be necessary

Negative. You can embark as soon as you have triemes, so Sailing. However, untill Astronomy you are restricted to shore.
There's no ability under sailing. Optics has an ability, so I think that optics allows units to embark on coast and lake, and Astronomy allows embarking on ocean.

The heal (instead of) promotion is pretty cool, allows you to save a unit that would normally die no matter what promotion he got.

Janissary does it every single time it defeats another unit. Not sure if defeats means kills or just does more damage to than receives.

On an other note, do we know how many xp are needed to gain a new promotion? Is it linear or (like in civ4) quadratic? Do you gain xp depending only on how much damage you give out or is it based on other things?
