While I think Ghandi and his peace movement were a good developement of humankind. I believe the military is the only thing that can forge legends and heroes from ordinary men. As my former sig stated.
So we should kill millions of people so that somebody can have something to boast about? In my opinion everybody is a hero, but thats somewhat irrelevant.Trajan12 said:While I think Ghandi and his peace movement were a good developement of humankind, I believe the military is the only thing that can forge legends and heroes from ordinary men. Huh, what olive? The one with the AK behind it?plarq said:I believe olive trees and AK at the same time. Ghandi gained independence in peace, while Algeria gained it in war. Both are admirable heroic effort to end the colonization and occupation.
However, about Yassir Arafat...I doubt both his olive and AK at the same time.
It brings out heroism used to defend ones country and family and fellow man. Promotes teamwork and togetherness. Remember, Hitler did not nee an Army to kill Jews. He could have done it with the Gestapo or the Waffen SS. If no one else had an Army, who would have stopped him? Who would have stopped Slobadon Milosevic? So we should kill millions of people so that somebody can have something to boast about? In my opinion everybody is a hero, but thats somewhat irrelevant.
The ends don't justify the means, murdering many people is murdering many people no matter what happens as a result.plarq said:I believe olive trees and AK at the same time. Yeah, thats ideology behind them, but that ideology in practice doesn't work. We will never be at peace as long as we are prepared to kill a brother or sister.Mr. Dictator said:you fail to see the logic behind an army
it isnt to kill another man, its to protect your family.
at least, that's what it's supposed to be about. lately its been used as a means to get what the gov't wants.

Id love so much for what youre saying to be right, but I find myself snaped back to reality, the reality that we have to many people with their own murderous agenda to stop fighting now. If we fight now we will save more lives in the long run.greenpeace said:Yeah, thats ideology behind them, but that ideology in practice doesn't work. Britian, however, was not savage in their treatment of Indians during the course of the early to mid 20th century.greenpeace said:So you mean when Mahatma Ghandi led his revolution it had was not a real world solution?
How about this, how is having an institution of that is dedicated to mudering people going to solve anything besides being able to murder others?
HAHA I just noticed that.Godwynn said:Be all that you can be is still the best.

In the former British colonies the natives were treated with extreme raciscm and harsh ounishment. However, that is more or less trivial since the fact that Peace and Nonviolence works is the important part. It shows that killing millions of people is foolish an unneccessary. We can't go on killing and killing we have to bring a stop to all this unneccessary foolishness and killing millions isn't helping.rmsharpe said:Britian, however, was not savage in their treatment of Indians during the course of the early to mid 20th century.
In Iran, on the other hand, you will be sentenced to death and executed for alleging rape -- if you're a woman. In Pyongyang, if you say a single word about the Kims that is not praise, you will be treated as a traitor and sent to a slave labor camp, along with your family. In Cuba, you'd be detained if you attempt to listen to foreign radio broadcasts.
