Art and Lore

I bet you do, bastard :)

By the way, provide me with any specialist dds. I can't find them in the game files.

My pleasure. Anyway, my modteam is on hold at the moment :(

What about specialist .dds, so that I can try to make them racial?

Sent GreyFox a question about optimizing the setup, but we can use them if you'd like to do them; Would want to do it for all specialists for the civ, though. ;)

Please, read my previous post. I need a .dds of any default specialist to study the format and start with, but I don't have one, and I don't know, where to find it.

Ah, had missed that question, as I replied to the post before you edited it.

The majority of the buttons are in one of the Civ4 paks (artpacks are located in Assets). To unpack them, use PakBuild. They are located in Art/Interface/MainScreen/CityScreen/Citizen.dds, with just the final name changing.

However, you CAN find a few unpacked already in Art/Civs/Healer Specialist. The 'Doctor', 'Great Doctor', 'Priest', and 'Great Priest' buttons, specifically. The two priest buttons are what we use for the Healer; The transparency is not required, in fact the Statesman specialist just uses the standard Adventurer button.

Aha, I've found it.

Doctor pic is great, by the way. Where is it used?

Am I correct, that full range of specialists include 11 positions:
Citizen
Sage
Priest
Merchant
Engineer
Healer
Great Sage
Great Priest
Great Merchant
Great Engineer
Great Healer

all the unique special citizens are already country-specific, correct?...

It's not, it was a possible Healer. ;)

And you're mostly correct; Will be the Statesman as well.

What unique citizens?

? I'm not aware of those existing... Or are you saying that's the art you'd like to add?

Perhaps, Governors were removed. I haven't played Calabim for a long time.

But what about Grigory unique specialists - ones, added by Homesteads (I believe, your final decision was to call them Magistrates)? My understanding was, that these guys would be available only to Grigory. That means that making other art for them is useless.

Ah, okay. The Calabim Governor isn't there (never heard of it, actually); The Grigori specialist is the Statesman, will likely be renamed but yes, making art for it is useless. Unless you'd like to make art better than the Adventurer button.

Yeah the Calabim Governor was an early feature of them that was removed pretty quickly (I think the governors Manor gave them?)

Here be the first package - Lizardmen for Mazatl/Cualli.

Valk, can you please check them in-game? If they're OK, and you like them, I'll add some stars for Great versions (since this doesn't require a lot of work), and they'll be done)

I haven't checked them in game (Not installed on the laptop, and the desktop is suffering from an initialization crash atm (damn schemas...)), but the alpha is correct, they're the right size, and even the Adventurer button works; These will work in game.

Took the liberty of making a composite image so it can be put in the thread:

They are, in order:

  • First Row
    • Engineer
    • Merchant
    • Sage
  • Second Row
    • Healer
    • Priest
    • Citizen
I love how the Engineer is made from the original version of one of the Bezeri leaders.... :p Cimesiat, can see his modified version here.

The only two I'm iffy on are the Healer and the Citizen. The healer because it looks like a Toad (which is only a part of the Bezeri race, and would be a sage anyway. :p), and the citizen because it is a duckbill, and so a sauropod rather than lizard. That one's a relatively minor difference though, most lizardmen are portrayed as more sauropodian.

So really, they'll all work as is, but if you can find a better healer that would be great.

Nice work! :goodjob:

EDIT: Actually, I had found a LOT of lizard art while trying to find Bezeri leaders; Give me a few minutes and I'll post them.

Alright, here are the better lizards I've found. Some (such as the white Warhammer lizard) may end up as leaders eventually.

Some you already used (Sage and Priest being the third and second to last, it looks like), but some of them may be usable; First could make a decent healer.

I've suddenly understood, that there's no bard :( Will do it too

Wouldn't changing Sage and Healer one to another help the "toad" case? If not, I suppose, I can replace the Healer.

Citizen is, actually, the same I've used for Mazatl header. Also possible to replace.

OK. I'll wait for it. Also, I've found out, that there's no bard - I'll have to it also :(

My issue with the toad is just that they only exist in Bezeri society (Well, I suppose you'd get a few as diplomats/traders/etc amongst the Mazatl, but certainly not the Cualli... Cualli hate both Mazatl and Bezeri equally), so it's a bit odd. Nothing real major, though.

Those are VERY nice indeed! I especially like the sage... And the doctor too actually (if toads are sages, I see it perfectly fit for a doctor, he could be considered a "specialized" sage)

Are those scheduled to be included with the next version??
