As if Direct2Drive's offer wasn't already tempting enough, here's a 10$ promo

This offer was very tempting to me, however it's on D2D, not my favorite digital retailer, actually my least favorite from past bad experiences with them. It would have been nice to save the 10.00 but in the end I gave the money to steam at 49.99 once I found out that they were preloading.

Had the deluxe edition been shipped with a huge poster sized tech map, a 7" bobblehead Ghandi, and packed in a lunch box, I'd certainly have gone for it, I am a sucker for lunchbox games, but as it didn't, I coudn't justify in my own mind the extra money for the digital deluxe version just go get the civ that I would have been buying it for.

Edit, scratch the huge poster sized tech map, I've still got mine from IV and don't think i've ever even bothered to unfold it.

I have been scouring the net for promo codes for the .co.uk site, but can't find any... Anyone know where to find them? :)

Try various cities in the UK, perhaps, in all-caps. The two promo codes for the US site are CHICAGO and SAN DIEGO. Maybe the same applies for the UK site (if such codes even exist)?

a 7" bobblehead Ghandi

That would be so awesome <3

Question to those who ordered from D2D: Have you gotten a key and can preload yet? Preloading is going on right now on Steam.

Nothing on preload with D2D yet. I put in a help request with the support site yesterday asking when a preload would be available if ever. No response yet but it hasn't been 24 hours yet either.

Just got my key on D2D!

Wow, really?

I was expecting them to wait till release. I guess Valve or 2K gave them the green light.

This is awesome.

Yup, I got all excited about it - then I realized it's even worse having Civ 5 on my hard drive and not being able to play it. :)

i can confirm that d2d is giving out the keys. just go to "my account->games", hit "download" for civ5, and you will be shown a key you can enter in steam. i'm preloading now.

To those interested, the CHICAGO and SANDIEGO coupons no longer work, but the PAX coupon will let you save $5. Also, no tax from Canada, so a nice purchase for me. :)

Was a pleasant surprise to have my Crackberry beep at 2:30 and find out D2D was giving out the keys so we could pre-load.

I have to admit, while they were the one Digital retailer I was leery about, their deals and customer service in my first transaction with them have put them firmly in my list of people to buy from.

Yup - good experience for me as well, and once you enter the serial key on Steam, it doesn't matter where you purchased the game. :)

I just tried ordering on d2d.com but it gave me the ip conflict message at the final stage of payment. I am currently in germany so i should be able to buy this game.

What am I doing wrong ? Antilegend any ideas? Did you buy in dollars euros or pounds ?

Steams price in euros is ridicoulous (50) , when you can buy the game from amazon.co.uk for 25 pounds .. WTH or 29 pounds from d2d and get free dlc and free civ3

"Pre-Order from Direct2Drive and you can preload right now and be ready to play on Release Day, September 24th at 12:01AM GMT! "

Don't think we're gonna get it any earlier than that in Europe. But am I just stupid? I can't seem to find the promo code field in the checkout. Meh!
