It is possible to upgrade from a Longbowman to a Crossbowman but it has a pink square as an icon:

Apologies but I forgot to load the save game for the Crossbowman CTD, r342 install, defaault modules plus Dao.
Go to the city of Vallus (currently building Longbowman) and select Crossbowman.

I use the SVN Snapshot, can I download another snapshot to get the updates ?
If so will it break game saves ?
 
yes you can, and yeah most updates break saves. (Note that i haven't commited the update yet, i'm still working up to the bug list. it'll be at the end of the week at worst. I'll make a post here).
 
OK, cheers, I assumed that an update will most likely break any saved games. will carry on with the current game and download the update when it is ready.
 
Are you submerging areas of the map or temporarily filling them with water/haunted lands ?

The DAO Immortal unit also appears to be lying down at all times, similar to Champions and Ninjas, interesting to see them sliding about on the map when they move.
 
Ok just to clear out the unit animations, Immortal is the same as the classic Immortal ( Art/Units/Spearman/Spearman.kfm ) Berserker needs reverted as well ( Art/Units/Viking_Berserker/Berserker.kfm ) and the Pack Horse and Dogs from the Dao Settler use the Khazad caravans ( <KFM>Art/Units/Charlemagne_SupplyTrain/SupplyTrain.kfm</KFM> )
 
I am playing as Sheaim and have noticed that the Crime Rate is fixed at 0 (+0 per turn) for all cities, I do not remember this happening last time I played them (R341). Save file attached, all default modules plus Dao.

When attacking an animal with a Werewolf with the Subdue Animal promotion sometimes two captured animals will be created, one as normal and one werewolf which has sublety different characteristics, i.e. no Hunter's Prize spell available.

the sheaim crime thing is not a bug. Their society is based on one truth : if you have the power to do something, you have the right to. There's not much that can be called crime in that kind of civilization ^^
 
Couple small things you've probably seen already but don't want them missed in the update, TEXT_KEY_BUILDING_CRIME_RAVENOUS_PACKS should just be _PACK and Aspect of War needs a short description (AoW) (and you never mentioned Capria's new trait, at first I was afraid it'd be overpowered but it fits nicely)
Also... this Mahon... are you... are you bringing scenarios back?!
 
I just noticed that the Elohim and Doviello share the same Phalanx UU. Is this intended? And if so I would be very interested as to the background of that.
 
it's intended. I cannot remind the exact nature of the backstory, i'll have to do a search, but i think it was similar to the byzantine varangian guard. A troop of trained barbarians paid by a civilized empire into a elite unit.
 
My recollection of the Elohim and Doviello having the same Phalanx UU is also that it's supposed to be some kind of Byzantine/Varangian thing.


Separately, the SVN Update seems to cause problems with the modules if you've activated modules that are normally inactive. I always enable several modules that are Inactive by default. After updating the SVN what I see in the AoE Launcher's "Manage Modules" screen is two versions of the same module, and when I check the Modules folder there will be versions of the same module in both the regular Modules folder and the Inactive Modules folder. So I end up deleting the Ashes of Erebus folder and then downloading the complete SVN.

Not sure what the solution is. Maybe the AoE Launcher, in the Manage Modules screen, could have a "Restore Defaults" option? Or maybe there's a fix that can be added to the SVN Update itself?

It's not a huge issue, just more of an inconvenience, but thought I'd mention it in case anything can be done. Thanks.
