since I have talked on this topic before, in relation to the very same issue which has come up (although not on this thread) and as such do not wish to repeat the same sort of lengthy debate again. I shall instead give you a link.

Oh and we have surpassed 1000 pages for the record, it is time to start Ask a Catholic IV (once necessary permission is granted and after a few days of rest ofc ;) ).
 
however fundamentally by ignoring the moral issue of the argument (ignoring natural law) you are kowtowing to a utilitarian, relativistic point of view on the issue instead of acting on the basis that it is fundamentally and objectively wrong, which of course it is.

He asked for rational reasons. Natural law arguments only work in religion and often not even then.
