Ask a Turk

Sorry then. Its just that on these forums, there are some people who seems to be only able to associate Turkey with nothing but those damned genocides in the 1920s.

It really irks me.

Nope, due to its firm stand with US in the cold war, most criticisms of Turkey comes from left to commie side in Western countries. The most likely blames are human rights violations, Kurdish autonomy, support of Israel, invasion of Kurdistan region of Iraq, etc.

I dont know, but I know that most dont openly condemm them

They do actually. 9/11 was also universally condemned in the Arab World. It's just that such things are not deemed worthy of reporting in Western media.

Hezbollah, Hamas and the like got their support in the Arab world via the mixed used of propaganda and charity.

Arab world condemned 9/11 incident because it is an unauthorized and unclaimed attack--they would not condemn most of Hamas claimed attacks.

Im not saying Turkey was perfect save for the Genocides. Its treatment of the Kurds is hideous and a lot of its problems revolve around, well Kurds. But there are times some people seem to really focus on nothing but the genocides. They make it seem like Turkish mentality stems from the killing of Greeks and Assyrians.

Like say I remenber once, I was posting about Turkish accession into the EU, and one or two people were persisted in repeating "Genocidal Turks."
Everytime we have one of those threads, this pops up.

How does one make Turkish coffee? I understand it's quite a bit different from standard western-style coffee, involving a bit of sifting, pouring back and forth, etc., or something along those lines. So how does one go about making it, and just how differently does it taste than western-style coffee?

maybe,i should continue this old thread.

I have a Turkish Question!

Is it true, that in Winter, all the food is covered in lamb fat?

This question never got answered....

well, only Turkish is spoken. If you mean Kurdish,it is spoken in some of our east cities, although it isn't official and against our constitution.

In our schools, learning English is a necessity.Schedules include 5-6 hours English per a week which equals to Maths.
Turkey is a tourism country, not knowing English is a black sheep for people in our cities full of tourists.

Azerbajcan is actually Turks. They are our brothers and their origin comes from Turkish tribes. We call them as Azerbaijani Turks in our country. And we like them so much.

I'm muslim.

Actually as a tradition, some of our foods contain lamb fat.Like lahmacun, pide, iskender kebap.(Maybe you know some of these.)
Especially people in east use lamb fat so much in their foods every season.(Not only in winter.)

Is it known in Turkey that turkish airplanes violate the greek air space on a daily basis? Such behavior is primitive and will ensure that you will get banned from eu funds as soon as we get some government which is even half-able..

And do you know that your naval forces sometimes pass over your continental shelf and and violate ours? And i ensure you that this won't happen evermore whether you are member of EU or not.
BTW your jets also violate our air space, this is happening mutually.

Ever heard of the barbaric casus belli in force by Turkey if Greece uses its right to extend its national waters to 12 miles? This is international law, and Turkey should stop acting like an ape :)

Of course Greece would then own 70% of the Aegean, and Turkey only 9%, but that is reasonable, since you only have coast on the easternmost part of it.
But i hope that the EU realises that a country which is (what a joke) trying to become member of that union, has a war threat on an existant member, if it uses its international law given right to expand its national waters.

And for those who are not aware of what is going on here, this has to do with oil in the Aegean, and not with petty issues of sea-control. Turkey (ie the US, Turkey is just a tool) wants to internationalise the oil.

First of all,i wish you explained your ideas like a human :) without insulting a country.
Then, having more zone in Aegea than ours, doesn't give you the right to violate our continental shelf.
By the way,i didn't ask your opinion about Turkey's EU membership.(i don't need it :) )
And why did you think war between Turkey and Greece as a first option? I've never mentioned about the war idea.:)I didn't use that word.
Are Greek people so curious on 'war idea'?I didn't know that.

Because Turkey has a war threat on Greece, like i said, if Greece uses its right to expand its national waters to 12 miles. Why do you think that Greece has not yet just expanded? You have no say in this, it is the law ;) Sorry if that is news to you, but that is your country :)

This wasn't the answer of my question.:)
I've never said the 'war' word? why did you use it in your post?
This conversation is between us,not between Turkish government and Greek goverment.:)

Well obviously it is insignificant if it is between us, since the issue is the official war threat. Try to find that anywhere else, let alone civilized europe. I think that i am not talking to a ******, so i do not have to spell it out that i have nothing against you personally, but definately am very dismissive of your government and militarised country :)
