ASNES- Not going to end this time!

The priests of Anjit went thru the Holy Ritual marking the birth of another royal child. They took a piece of undyed thread and tied it to the child's left wrist where the future mark of a Deity would be branded upon the skin. The undyed thread represented the unknown future of this child and all its possibility. The child was then washed and the holy words were spoken over him. The baby squirmed a little as it was bored with this, but the priest held it firm until the words were complete. The child was then handed to the royal parents and they took him out in front of the temple where he was presented to the crowd and a holiday was declared!

The next day the Adhipa met with his council and advisors to plan the next exploration as the last one was so successful. Many people wanted to go west, some east, and others still north. Thus began a long debate. The next day the option of going east had been discarded because the High Priestess of the Great Weaver Isha said the portents boded ill for going in the direction of the rising sun. The benefits of the west and north were weighed and debated, but finally the head of the royal guard made the observation that life along the rivers was easier than across simply land. They could use rafts and have plenty of water and fish. The Adhipa stood and the decision was made, they were going to send an expedition north.

The warriors and raft crews had been selected, the goodbys to family had been made. The Adhipa walked before the assembled warriors and spoke to them, "Today you go forth so that we may spred the glory of the Weaver and her family!" The crowd cheered for a moment and then the Adhipa issued a prayer. "May the great Weaver Isha weave you all into a grand pattern and the Powerful Shinri stay his hand from your threads. Go now and spread our glory!" The warriors and rafts began the trip along the rivers and the Adhipa followed tradition watching them until they were no longer in sight.

The weaver has been good to her people.

The Fendiar have grown accustomed to this new land of theirs and are well along their way growing as a people. New warriors have been trained, small defensive fortifications have been built, farmland has been improving, and overall life has been good. As more men and women are assimilated the size of the Fendiar grows. The time has come to expand again to make room for everyone and to make sure there is enough growth in the land to support everyone.

A great gathering is held by all the major Chiefs of the Fendiar to determine what the best direction to go is and who to send. Many arguments are heard through the course of the day and night as different points of view are given and discussed. In the end the younger chiefs win out, east is the direction they shall go, back towards their old enemies. To diminish the older chiefs concerns a fairly large band of armed men will lead the expedition followed by the bold settlers that will start tending the earth for more farms or setting up pastures to raise animals in these new lands. Their orders are simple, expand east along the coast, assimilate any people they run into (peacefully or by force if needed) and increase the size of controlled territory by the Fendiar. Before they head out a large gathering is held to bring this expedition good luck and a bountiful return. A large cow is sacrificed to bring about good weather. Merriment and dancing lasts throughout the night, needless to say is a slow start the next morning for those heading out on this journey.

Update will be post in 24 hours, making the deadline for orders in 21 hours.

Brief Description: With nothing better to do than farm, the people on the tip of their penisula decided that it sucked hardcore, and they weren't gonna sit around doing nothing anymore. Thus, they decided to look to the high seas, and fight battles on distant shores, while drinking lots of alcohol, and raking in biznatchs.

At amons request.

Sanjay, the night watchman, gazed out at the black waters before him. Keeping his village aware of its surroundings at night was a difficult job (quite hard on the eyes) but a very necessary one. With the frequent attacks in the night from the Pirates of Janjaweed, one had to be constantly vigilant.

Quietly, Sanjay thanked the full moon above him. It definitely made his job easier. Unless...

As if on cue, a cloud rolled in front of the moon. Sanjay quietly cursed, and contemplated dousing his torch. It was his only source of light, but also would draw the pirates to his village.

A small splash caused him to jerk around, nearly falling off of the small observation platform. He couldn't see what it was. Sanjay was about to raise the alarm when the moonlight returned. The noise was only a group of dolphins in the bay.

The Niasian watchman briefly contemplated an old story over how the people who lived at sea were in fact dolphins living out of the water... or was that vice-versa.

He pondered the thought for a moment, then sat down again, staring out at the sea...

Suddenly he started. He had dozed off. He gazed around rapidly. The village was still quiet. Somewhere, he heard the sound of a bawling child. But all else was quiet.

Almost quiet. Something was out of place.

Sanjay looked out at the bay again. The dolphins were gone, but several shapes were advancing.

He knew what they were immediately. They weren't driftwood, they had oars. And no Niasian fisherman would be out at this hour.

As silently as possible, Nias left the torch where it was, and climbed out of the wooden tower. He raced from hut to hut in the village, waking everyone. The weak, both young and elderly, were evacuated. Those who could fight went for their weapons, ranging from elaborate spears to simple fishing implements.

In the center of the village, all of the armed population of the village met. There were several dozen present.

"My brothers and sisters, the Pirates of Janjaweed are coming. They are already at the beach, hidden by the darkness of the moon. Soon they will be here. Our families and vulnerable ones have already escaped. We fight to kill those who seek to destroy the peace, these vile slaves of Irintava*. As we make more of them bleed on our island, they will weaken and weaken more, while we wax in strength. Already a message has been sent, soon the real army will be here, to succeed if we fail.

Our families and vulnerable ones have already escaped. If you wish to leave, you may do so now."

No one budged.

"Excellent. Now, silence."

The whole village fell into a deathly silence. One could hear the waves washing up on the beach. And foreign voices, themselves quite hushed. Sanjay gazed up. The pirates were coming closer... closer... they were at the village. One group left the main host and entered the closest hut to the shore.

One pirate looked into the darkness around the center of the village and said something to another. Sanjay felt a bead of sweat form on his forehead. He couldn't wait any longer.

He sprang up out of the shade, charging the nearest pirate. The rest of the militia followed him.

"Attack! Death to the Serpents of Irintava!"

Sanjay struck his spear into the abdomen of the first pirate. The battle was on.

By the next morning, the sands would be stained with blood.
