Would anybody like to 'transparentize' the background on my current avatar?

I can tell you right now that that's a bad idea: The glow around the dude's head will come out horrible. If I get a chance I'll try though.

EDIT: here's a very rough job. If you switch to black skin you can see very obvious problems.

It looks horrible even with the blue skin.

I tried dithering the halo, but you cannot achieve smooth fading with that.

The suit may not be a good idea. There's not much left of the original image if I add it too.

This is the first one (original) I made, but its 7,21 kb and blue background for IE users. I always have to tranform it to be 8 bit colors, and when I do the quality decreases.
