Avatars

I haven't changed in a looooong time. For a good while I was Azula avatars. I was always fond of that Azula in Earth Kingdom garb one I used for a long while. Then, I want to say 4 or 5 years ago, I started going with dope actresses from early Hollywood. I'm pretty sure the first was Bette Davis as Jezebel. Then I was Mildred Davis for awhile. My twitter avatar has been Florence Lawrence for years, but I don't remember if I ever used that one on here. I switched to Danielle Darrieux in 2016 or 17, I want to say, and it's been that way ever since. Frankly, I've just felt too comfortable with it to want to change it. It's a cool avatar, and I think it pretty accurately represents my mood and personality most of the time, and I haven't felt any particular inspiration of who I'd switch to anyway. If anybody has recommendations, I may be willing to switch it up.

It's your signature that needs changing, not your avatar. Seen any movies in the past eight years Owen? :p

Hehe, got me there. I feel at this point the joke is just too good to change though.

My avatar is Mos Def, one of my favorite rappers
I often find it initially confusing when people change avatars but it never takes long to get used to it

Occasionally someone will ask if I had an avatar of someone at some point in the distant past, and I always forget.

The first one I had was the Civ2 partisan. I had registered a few months before the release of Civ3 and didn’t have a custom one then. I don’t remember what the deal was, or if I just didn’t want one.

I'm old and lazy. ;)

I'm avatarfluid. Sometimes I like switching it up.

You had the one for so many years you were gone it feels kinda odd to me now

on that though like, I also identify people with their avatars and some change after many years on one it feels weird and sometimes I don't recognise them, but that only lasts for a short time, and I was surprised to find how easy it actually is to adjust to changes like that

the one I have now is from my new favourite animayyyy and I think I'm going to keep it for a long time, even though I switched a lot in the past, because I've got kind of a pair avatar thing with a friend. That friend is not on cfc though so I might change it here, even though I've in the past often gone out of my way to have the same avatar on multiple accounts

Here is a selection of a few of the avatars I've used here and there, over the past several years (most were resized to 200 x 200 or 100 x 100, depending on forum requirements):

Bast, Egyptian cat goddess. I entered these in one of the avatar contests at TrekBBS.

Beaver. This is my avatar on the NaNoWriMo site.

One of several favorite owl pictures. The artist is Apofiss, and I have an assortment of wall art, mugs, magnets, and cushions with his cat and bird-themed pictures on them. This owl is my avatar on the Fighting Fantasy forum I belong to.

Peekaboo! This shy little cat is also by Apofiss, and I've used this avatar here on CFC, though it was quite a long time ago. I currently use it on one of the media sites I post on.

Name's Clawdius. I, Clawdius. This is my avatar on the Roman history forum I belong to.

Chloe. Some folks here might remember her (I used this photo as my avatar here, some years ago). She was one of the cats I adopted through Freecycle, back in 2004, and died 3 years ago. She and Maddy were good friends.

Would that be the one from this series?

Spoiler :
magic_emi.jpg

English title Magical Emi, the Magic Star. I never saw the series, just knew the theme from some CD that I had bought some years ago at a secondhand shop.

I had it for a while, but at some point just thought it didn't click anymore. :)

No mention of the spud riding a tricycle?

I miss the Japanese version of Mr. Monopoly you had.

I'll bring him back.

Doomsday Ron Popeil out! Momotaro back in!

I may have said it before, but I chose this particular game in the series because it featured Western Japan. You can see the Tsutenkaku, an Osaka landmark, on the right. I also edited out the "12" from the cap because it doesn't make much sense.

Also still playing OpenTTD in my time off so the train connection is apt.

no the real life photo of a woman. I think you left before I started posting but you remained high on the posters list so like that was the one for the many years you were gone

He was riding a motorbike, or at least a scooter, thankyouverymuch. :scan:

Spud was my most famous avatar here, and I still appreciate your creating that one-shot Spud character for DYOS.

I don't have Spud on my computer right now. I think he's on my Photobucket account somewhere. Or at least he's on another computer (I should really gather all these files together in one place).

There are lots of other avatars I wanted to post, but there's a per-post limit for images. I'll search out some more later. :)

I remember that picture, I recall it was a Japanese woman, though her name is unknown to me.

Couldn't remember who that was, and then I found one on the internet archive!

Probably this one? Naoko Kawai, singer from the 1980's. I think I chose it because it had some connection to my title at the time. Hard to see in the picture but the single is "Smile For Me."

Here are a few more of mine:

Cute little dragon. I used this one years ago on a forum management forum.

HMPH! I used this disgruntled kitty on a couple of sites, years ago. I've always wished I could give this cranky little kitteh a hug and cuddle.

Dowager Countess Violet - my favorite Downton Abbey character. This was one of my contest entries on TrekBBS (the theme was TV mothers).

This one's a little creepy/depressing, but it's the one I use on fanfiction.net.

This is the avatar I use on LibraryThing. Cats and books just go together.

kittens-reading-books (1).jpg

This is my current avatar on the Pond Friends forum (a gaming forum mostly populated by refugees from the now-defunct Big Fish Games forum). I know it's last year's writer's badge, but I kept it because I like it. Some of the people I interact with there have played the games I'm novelizing and have been very encouraging of my writing projects.

This is the avatar I would like to use on the NaNoWriMo site instead of the beaver I posted in the last batch. But I have yet to figure out how to change my avatar there after they "improved" the site. This is one of the main characters in my King's Heir: Rise to the Throne project.

This is my avatar on the Doctor Who forum I ran for many years. The Doctor smiley is part of an Invision-style set I asked to be created back when I was part of the smileygenerator forum. The same person who created this Fourth Doctor set also created the basic Spud (I added Spud's sunglasses, motorcycle, and sly grin). This avatar was made by combining the smiley with a blinkie I made.
