This is not as un-hisorical as you might think. A couple of decades after the conquest of Mexico came the Mixton wars - A rebellion by a conglomeration of northeastern tribes. Some of those tribes would have worn battle dress at least similar to the Aztecs (s/be Mexica). By that time many natives had learned to ride.
It's a great unit. My Aztec mod is on hold for the moment but I'm downloading with a view to using eventually!
