Oh, I got that, I'm not a fan of geography dependence either, but so far every civ in 6 (except China) has something about that: continents with Teddy and Vicky, coastline with Hojo, rivers with Cleo. Given that the aztecs built a city in the middle of a lake and that they were famous for modifying the land to create farms and aqueducts seem like a strange choice that they have no bonus related to geography.
Also, what's bugging you about the names? Can't you pronounce Tlachtli, Tlatoani or Huitzilopochitl correctly?![]()
The way I understand it, it means that we will have 17 civs at launch (for the first three months) unless we pre-order the game.
That was also the way I was interpreting it. Perhaps the game will start with say, 12 civs, and another 6 will gradually unlock over time, unless you pre-order? I'm not convinced they are one of the DLC civs as they never mention 'DLC' anywhere - only 'pre-order', which isn't the same thing. I hope 2k will clarify what exactly is going on.
Does anybody remember how many civilization were promised at start for Civ 5 and whether those numbers counted including Babylon and Mongol?

I think Ed mentioned in an interview once that the Deluxe version would include the first four DLCs for the game
Likely by what justification? I doubt they'd scoop so low as to make one, much less two, of them map sets.Yeah, the Deluxe version comes with four DLCs but there's no guarantee that all four are Civs. it's likely that 2 are Civs and 2 are Map Sets.
Anyway. If every civ has some sort of geography-based bonus then the game becomes incredibly unbalanced because chances are that over 65% of the world will end up suffering as a result.
There needs to be a counter-balance so that civs, like the Aztecs, flourish in ANY condition.
In VI, it seems that different continents can form even on a Pangaea/single landmass. Which makes sense, geographically. In any case, the continent-specific bonuses at least should still apply on all maps if that's the case.

I figured as much, so it seems to be quite an unfortunate UU. How often are you going to be killing any units with Warriors? I know they've said they want more combat in the early game, but that early? Seems like a waste.Builders can't be farmed from Barbarians - https://twitter.com/skrattybones/status/756137704325341184
Good that Firaxis is nixing the obvious cheesy exploits.

But that's the thing - are we sure if it is one of the 4 DLC? They don't specify that you have to order the Deluxe Pack to get the Aztecs - it seems you can just pre-order any version of the game to get it, so surely it can't be counted as one of the DLC? It just seems very unclear to me.
