BANG! You are directing Hamlet. How do you hand the ghost?

I'd make every character a ghost except for his dad, who was just born into the world of the living.

Hire a ghost writer

If I put on a production of Hamlet, I'd set it in Medieval Japan. So the ghost is a Japanese ghost now.

I guess it has long hair or something?

He's a samurai whose death must be avenged, presumably while picking a female companion.

Obviously. Samurai who's death must be avenged is like the entire reason for doing Hamlet with Samurai.

That draws an interesting link w/ Rashomon.

In both, there is a ghost and a murder and in both uncertainty is a major factor. Of course in Hamlet it is Hamlet's uncertainty, but in Rashomon it is the audience's uncertainty that is important.
