Well I'm not saying that that's Canada portrayed in the screenshot. It's very clearly Russia, and the new architecture shown around the city's edges also has some very clear Russian influences-- but also Canadian ones. In fact it's almost obscenely Russian what with the tundra tiles, St. Basil's Cathedral, and several lavras in the shot, almost as if it's MEANT to distract you... What I'm saying is that a potential Canada would probably share its art style with Russia.
But I gotta be honest, that's quite a stretch to say the palace building in the screenshot looks anything like the picture you posted. You have to admit that the resemblance to the hôtel de ville I posted is very uncanny, and far more probable to be an artistic reference for the palace building than anything in Russia (or Europe for that matter). I would hope that if Russia had its own art style that they would use something more distinctly "Russian" for its palace, like the Winter Palace or the *real* Kremlin, and that the one shown in the screenshot is indeed Canadian, but a placeholder until they've finished modeling the Russian palace (unless it's placed there intentionally as a hint). But as is that palace definitely doesn't look Russian, unless Firaxis really seriously messed up in their references.
I also want to point out that a Canadian civ doesn't necessarily need to be anglophone. If anything, the probable "Quebec" architecture in the screenshot, paired with the Chateau Frontenac, points to a potential Canada having a French leader with his capital in Quebec City-- likely Samuel de Champlain, a fascinating 17th century explorer and governor, if I were to bet. Nothing like the other New World leaders we currently have.
these are all nice observations but canada i'm afraid should have never been a priority, if we have canada then we might aswell add the entirety of south america and forget about the inca and the mayas, those aren't considered civilizations anymore apparently. please firaxis wait alittle bit longer for a canadian civ, this is definitely not the right time
It would be an unusual portrayal, but it would distinguish Canada from the rest of the anglo-american civs already in the game better than a more recent Anglo-Canadian.
if you are right then i'm sorry but i'll definitely criticize firaxis' choice because it's giving priority to a very insignificant country that shouldn't even be considered a civilization at all, it's a very risky choice since a ton of people are complaining of eurocentrism, too many colonial civs, no native americans other than the aztecs.
Come on. If it were well and truly an insignificant country would there be nearly this much debate over it? Would it be one of the most popular modded civs on the workshop? Canada is, I believe, the third or fourth biggest market for Civ games. Hardly insignificant. The Zulus were insignificant. The Kongolese too. What did they contribute to science? Global politics? Art? Not to knock them or anything, but they didn't really do much but get conquered, barely even lasting a century or more than a few years in some cases.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I WANT those kinds of civs in the game, ideally even before Canada, but that "insignificance" argument is pretty weak, you have to admit.
If it is the Russian palace and was simply re-designed that raises the idea that maybe Russia could be the recipient of the alt-leader. I'm also hoping that if some of the palaces are being redesigned I hope that includes Brazil. Having a mesoamerican temple makes no sense for them.
If it is indeed a Canadian Palace. Then it would draw inspiration from the Châteauesque design that we see throughout Canada.

kongo and the zulus at least have a unique culture to bring into the game, canada is half french and half english and they are both in the game, so why occupy a slot for more variety instead of having 4 english speaking countries. it's the most popular modded civ, it will definitely be much less popular as an official one
So sick and tired of hearing about Canada, how about we discuss/guess which female leader is supposed to have unique interactions with the Ages system of the expansion (as identified by Anton Strenger)?

America has a palace clearly modeled off the U.S. capitol building. For some reason, the Toronto city state uses the same model, even though Toronto's architecture much more resembles the European palace model.
Looking at the picture it also seems like new architecture as well for the buildings in the City Center and surrounding districts. Those look different from this picture based off of the Northern Euorpean style we've seen in the first release of the game. Either Russia is getting unique style now or it might really be Canada.
I didn't say it was off-topic per se, I said I was sick and tired of hearing about it. That being said, so much debate over whether Canada is worthy or not doesn't really lend itself to which civs or leaders would fit the "new features" mentioned for Rise and Fall. I can't see Canada fitting the Dark Ages/Golden Ages/Heroic Ages system, for one thing, so in that sense it's close to being off-topic.
I really wonder which female leader is supposed to interact with the Ages though. Maybe Elizabeth I? She arguably ushered in a Golden Age culturally (even if her foreign adventures were generally dismal military failures). This reputation even inspired the movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Maybe Tamar, who was associated with a Georgian Golden Age? Maybe even Seondeok, who was also associated with a flourishing of science and the arts in the Silla kingdom of Korea.

Elizabeth the first but if the second ruler will have to have a different capital (like Gorgo and Pericles) then that would be hard to implement.
Seondeok of Korea who who brought Korea into a "renaissance" era after years of fighting a rebellion (someone argued). Korea is also very likely added

I know that's an unpopular opinion, but I'd rather see Gran Colombia than the Inca. They have never appeared in the series and Bolívar is extremly important to the history and culture of South America.
Also, I'd love to see Cuba included in the game, maybe with some unique gameplay like Veneza in Civ V.

You have cultures with way more diverse history. A second Chinese leader could be of Tang, Han or even People's Republic.
I don't think giving a second leader to any Civs is a "waste". To be honest, if they're going to make having multiple leaders a feature, all or most of the civilizations should have one.
Also, Brazil has appeared in two games so far and they used the same leader for both. If you're going to put Brazil in the game, I want to see different interpretations of it in each iteration, just like I don't want Germany to always be Bismark or the United States to keep repeating Lincoln.
