Yeah general null responce.. i even pm'd every mod at one point.. only 2 even bothered to reply to me i think :(

I think that's when I joined up.

I joined the team, but I may switch to one another forum I go to has if they end up making a team. I introduced it to them.

Welcome aboard Thery, hope your other team doesnt take off? :mischief:

I started folding again but only at 50% this time. The reason I stoped was beacuse of the nosie from my CPU fan and the fact that my CPU had temperature of 60°C. On 50% the nosie is not that much better but the temp. is atleast at 50 °C.

I would join but I have a similar program already running... I don't want my computer to run slowly if it's running both.

Mind if I use this space to ask, what are you running?

As for me, I'm still not folding. But I am still waiting for the supposed Boinc-friendly Folding client.
I fear, however, that this will forever be on the back-burner. With the new GPU Folding advances, and their great success, there won't be much reason for programmers to spend time on a currently stalled project.

In the meantime, I'm happily crunching for some of the less-processor intensive projects, like FightAids@home, through Boinc and the WCG.

I'm running a similar program - you can find more at http://grid.org

It too is trying to cure things like Cancer through the same method.

Also I've not signed up to the F@H thing. It seems to be ok but hopefully I don't need to close one to run a game well.

:) I have five lectures on protein misfolding (wrt mechanisms of disease processes) coming up in February, so I'll be writing up some of that and posting it here just in case anyone is interested. Science spam ftw!

Heretic!

Heretic! Naw, just kidding. The beauty of more than one folding/research project (like starworms is in) is that the ideas are then subject to natural selection. The superior idea can then prove itself. Plus, more projects mean more successes; with escalating processing power, each day adds more power to each project.

And the more people you can get on, the faster the teams can publish their results.

I remember reading about how the Heat Shock Proteins could mask mutations in regular proteins, because they force the fit anyway. That way, mutations could build up without ruining a protein. In this way, a point mutation could provide material for Natural Selection without ruining the protein's original function.

 F@H have just started my Mac on a project 3029 unit. It will take 20 hours at its current rate of progress, and is worth 1440 points.

It'll be just my luck for it to fail at 90%

This computer is starting to feel like a C64.. next I know I'll be playing Jumpman.. actually, I've been wanting to find that game, a flash version would be cool!

If that happens, you will get a proportionate number of points so the time won't be completely wasted. I've recently had some EUEs for the first time and got some points for all of them.

Yes, I've had a couple of EUEs and got points before. But on Sunday my system tried three times to fold a unit and aborted each time at 44% without returning any results, so that was about 12 hours with no points. Apparently this can happen with the beta SMP version of the client.

[Update] Whew! It completed that 1440 point work unit OK. Now it's started another one!

My recent run of higher points has probably just ended, the two fairly powerful servers I'd added F@H to just went into production, necessitating the removal of the client. :(

Anyone want to contribute to our entry (Team CFC) page on the CFC-OT wiki? I added the last two sentences, and am trying to find all of our old folding threads. Is this the fourth thread now?

You've still made an awesome contribution as evidenced by your immense first place position and your just crossing the 400k point mark. Congratulations! :hatsoff:

I PM'd Abaddon to let him know this thread is about maxed out. He replied that he is on a self-requested ban until tomorrow due to bans, and would appreciate everyone wait for him. Er, since I am apparently making post #1000, I guess we need to either idle until tomorrow, or mosey on past 1000 this one time.
