Best cartoons form the 80s

DangerMouse
He's The Best
He's The Greatest
He's The Greatest Secret Agent In The World!
He's The Ace - He's Amazing...
He's the Strongest... He's The Quickest.... He's The Best!

Fritz the Cat

edit: oh wait.. bah, the 1980's was 1970's Jr. pretty much anyway. I stand by Fritz the Cat.

Favourite 70's cartoon? Why, "Professor Balthazar" of course!:goodjob:
balt3.gif

It's Croatian, from Tito's Yugoslavia. Of course, as a kid I never really thought about things like the mayor of the good Professor's town wearing a huge Red Star-order.

He looks like Mr. Magoo! haha!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I know i only started watching it in the ninties but im sure it started in 1987 or somthing.

He Man, M.A.S.K. and Transformers :crazyeye:

Cheezy:

If you're talking about the movies, I'd have to agree with you. But the series, yuk. Too many filler episodes and recycled animation. Though it did have a higher percentage of relatively sane characters than any of the other series in the franchise.

damn, several sprung to mind (Biene Maya, Wickie, Barbapapa), but it seems all of them aired in the 70s :old:

ok, Captain Future really is from the 80s :scan: in germany, anyway.....

And Star Blazers... good times.

Hellz yus!
Personally, though, I don't think you can really beat Akira (made in 1988). There's something pretty special about it - it's got the best aspects of the old style, and *created* many of the characteristics that became the new style of computer-assisted Japanese animation. Great plot, great art, great direction and cinematography, great (Japanese) voice acting, great music and sound... also, TETSUOOOOOO!!!! KANEDAAAAAAA!!! :D

Its obviously:

Battle for the Planets (G-Force)

Yeppers!!

Sounds good, but in mid-'87 I was already in college and with precious little free time and without much opportunity to watch television. :( I'll have to check out Akira sometime.

Akira is a movie though, most (all?) of what people are posting here are series!

Fortunately for the time strapped individual Akira is only 2 hours long (the manga on the other hand is freaking huge) ^_~ Today however its "computer assisted" animation (largely streaks of light behind the motorcycles lulz) looks a little dated :)

The original > The new series crap that they put on recently.

Cartoon Network used to have a pretty good lineup of such cartoons when I was watching it back in the early '90s. Now they just have some Japanimation (nothing I'd watch since it's pretty geared towards children, as far as I bothered to watch whilst flipping channels) and other new age garbage on there.

Sigh...kids these days....
