What is in your view the best MMORPG still played online? MMORPG is definitely something I enjoy and now contrary to the times of my jobless youth I can afford to pay for it. I want to make a comitment to a best RPG if I can afford it.
So far I know of 3 that are worth playing.
World of Warcraft
Eve Online and
Immortal Ultima Online
What are in your view the best MMORPGs out there? What are their strengths and weaknesses? Do you play any of them?

I haven't played any MMORG, unless you count the Graal Online game which I played 3 or 4 years ago. I still have a screenshot of it.

World of Warcraft

Immortal Ultima Online

Was part of the Beta for Eve, Horriable mid - high level gameplay
Low level experience was fanyasic along with eye candy and beautiful space ships.

WoW was ok but board within a month. grouping is fun but I found it rather shallow. (Not a fan of diablo either)

UO very very slow start, very fun mid - high level activities but Iam heavily bias as it as the first mmorpg I played. Exteremly dated now, bad latency, lagg, bugs and roll backs.

Have played UO, EQ1, DAoC, EVE, SWG, WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars..

Only one I still play is EQ1 (Everquest)

guild wars if it counts as an mmorpg
Is it a good game? I heard its only roleplay and hack-n-slash game rather than a "full" MMORPG. For example can you produce things in game?

This reminds me a lot of the Runescape Classic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runescape). I play te new version (the one that is called "Runescape"), but I'm getting fed up with many 10-12 year olds and limited options. There's no way I will become a member and pay 5$ a month like I wanted. Not after I've seen World oF Warcraft. However Ultima Online (which is a lot like RS) is a worthy candidate.

Eve Online is not really my thing. I'd like to be able to see myself in the world I am playing :( Also I love being a merchant and a crafter producing and selling things. So after some consideration I thinkEve is not what I want to do.

Can you talk more about your WoW experience? How does Race vs Race work? How profitable and interesting is mining, smithing, tailoring? How much time does it take to level up in production skills? What items can be made etc?

UO is the best MMORPG from my POV fromt the ones I haven't played. can you elaborate on the gameplay and the like? :)

Eve has detailed and complex mining and crafting system. Though the system is "broken" as its impossible for new players as big "corps" (guilds) have pretty much glutted the market with items. There are auctions, factory slots, automated macros for mass producing items, as well as LOTs of travel an trading of commodeities NPC and PCs, Aquiring "blueprints" from mobs is fun (for a while)

Wow played a rogue, warlock and a lot of mage.. Gameplay is extremely polished, make sure you have friends or get some CFC wow to "tinker" you as money is hard to come by at the start. Graphically also very well made, easy to get into, combat is relatively fast. By mid 30s - 40 it becomes an ugly boring repeative grind.

Crafting tried my hand at all of them (except engineer) mining is like runscape, Ditto with herbalist. initial was hugely fun to collect items, mine and craft amour, smith swords and so on. But It didnt take me long to realise time far FAR better spent Leveling instead of crafting. I never became a "high" level where people say large profits can be made.

Grouping is fun. The larger the group the more diverse the better, huge dungeon trawels and big fights are memerable.

As for UO I would suggest a "Free" server to play on. Please buy the game client (I've seen people sell them for a few dollars these days)
Uo is extremelly slow to start, Painfully slow, I remember being killed by a RAT. (for shame for shame) Loot and monsters are plentiful, dungeons are Huge. Combat is simple, even when using magic. Uo has the best teleportation travel system.

Everything is player driven, Market for items is huge (when u die you drop all your items). Grouping is as fun as ever and very nesscary as PKing is rampant. UO has everything WOW has, pets, mounts, crafting galore, tons of loot. plus houses, player owned boats,

Uo also has lagg, bugs and crashes Just imagine runescape2 x100

It should be noted that wow is pretty much aimed at the high-level players. Level 50 is pretty much where the real fun begins. :D

I can live with lags :) FriendlyFire could you tell me what free servers are out there? I can buy UO online but finding the right servers is a problem if you dont know what you are looking for.

I would say that World of Warcraft is a pretty awesome mmog. As for the hard to find money thing, just take up mining, mine some copper ore here and there, smelt them into bars and sell full stacks on the auctionhouse. I can easily make my first gold before I even hit level 10. As a matter of fact, I have a level 14 that already has 5 gold from just mining and selling. There are always going to be players that will want products but won't go through the trouble of aquiring them outside the auctionhouse. I have a level 60 and I just could not be bothered enough to mine copper!

Final Fantasy XI

So much to do, plus the Development team actually listens to the player suggestions ;). I've sent in suggestions before, and got an e-mail back from the dev team asking me to explain the idea in further detail. From my understanding, it happens quite often.

Guild Wars is a great game, just don't fall behind. I haven't played in a couple months, and its really hard to get back into. Plus its free, so you can't beat that. But in general, get Guild Wars and just don't stop playing. You'll get bored, for sure.

After having played Camalot , Guild Wars, and World of Warcraft, I believe WoW to be the best due to how user friendly it is for new players, I'm also a fan of the Warcraft universe (except for the fact that technology has such a large role, that gets to me a tad.)

EVE is a great game if you liked the old "Elite" games from the late 80's and early 90's. Sure, it's old and somewhat clotted with people, and all the action controlled is by powerful player corporations (guilds), but CCP keeps adding content, with new bloodlines and new blueprints (items) to make. The best game out there if you're into sci-fi.

Also, everything is player controlled, very little is dev controlled, which has lead to a very high risk/reward ratio. And you can do ANYTHING you want.

It's got me hooked for now.

not necessarily and mmoRPG but rather just and mmog, blitz 1941 is worth checking out. Their server is a bit slow and the game has just only started out still in beta but it has a good hack and slash kind of quality to it which makes it very addictive.

My cousiin played both WOW and Guild Wars. He didn't enjoy the later and the former was too expensive on the long run. An online buddy started to play FFXI when it came out, and i have more or less lost contact with him. ;) I reckon it is good.

Eve online without a doubt :)
