Beta Testers Needed!

IDK, but it gets erased with each new game. I'm assuming you have logging on, I'd see if disabling that got rid of it.
I have turned off logging to the best of my knowledge. That is including the RevDCM logging and the logging in every tab of the BUG Options menu. If you know of any other places to turn off logging please let me know.
Anywho, I'm looking about possibly optimizing the coding of civ to run more efficiently. I want to see if it's possible to improve apon the CAR mod idea but I'm not sure what is sucking up the memory. This way people with low memory and low end pcs can run RoM with bigger maps and more content. If you have any ideas on what contributes to the most slowdown (list order preferably) please let me know so I can begin.

Ooohhhhhh, thank you!

After Marathon, the other gamespeeds should be speedier autoplay so I'm gald you are working on fixing that Ranged Bombard bug :). That way, I can finally play .

I'm not sure there is anything left I can improve. I'll look at the interface some day, but that's slow, even in vanilla BTS. There is no real substitute for RAM, and BTS requires 1GB to play large maps as it is. RoM's requirements aren't that much higher, 2gb is recommended.

Unless, you're really a closet C++ guru, in which case, I'd love to see you multithread the SDK, but that's just me dreaming.

You could always grab one of Hydromancerx's modmod layouts and try your hand at coding it, if you're bored...

hope all goes well, so I can play when I get home from work. :)

You aren't missing much, all the major changes from the patch have been in the beta's for a while now.

PS:

I'd bug Jdog or Glider about the MP log, but seeing how they are busy making RevDCM MP, I'm going to be patient and wait.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to stop the MPLog.txt from being created? After so many turns in a game the darn thing grows to be outrageously huge. I'm talking about going from 0MB to over 650MB! I delete the file after I finish and I notice that my memory happens to skyrocket after a while in game. If I didn't delete it, I'm sure it would grow to astronomical proportions and end up being several gigabytes after a single game.

Any idea what this file is specifically used for and if there is a way to keep it off?
In CivilizationIV.ini change Messagelog setting to 0.

Thanks. That was getting troublesome for a while there. If I'm lucky it'll save some RAM as well.

I am not sure if it is my install only but I can build all civics buildings now no matter what my civics are. Which is why I can say that "mercenary camp" in a pink square in the city mouse over, ie BULL thingy.

Did you patch your game to RoM 2.81? Like I told you not to... :trouble:

No, I haven't even had time to get to that forum yet :) I had problems with the install, it said it worked but it had not. It had crashed on the woc bit. So I went back to basics and installed RoM 2.8 full with hot fix then beta1.51beta5.

Then something is borked up with your install. If civic buildings had been broken, I would be inundated with complaints. Beta5 has hundreds of downloads (google code gives me a download counter).

I have nearly the same issue as DH. I have RoM 2.8 Full and AND 1.51Beta5 downloaded yesterday. I am in the Reinassance Era and have the following civics:
Monarchy
Senate
Proletariat
Guilds
State Church
Private
None
Standing Army
I can (but should not be able to) build Church School, Divine Monument, Brahmin Library, Single Issue Party, Civil Service School, Foundling Hospital, Villa, Plague Hospital, Imperial Mint, Mystic's Hut and Warlord's Keep. Some of the required civics I have never adopted, others I had at one time. I have no pink square issues at all. The following buildings appear to work as they should: Mercenary Camp, Draft Office, Shanty Town and the National Mint. Hope this is helpful.

I have fixed this... stupid readpass3's...

New version later tonight if all goes well.

You guys want to hear the problem with Range Bombard. It figures really. I go checking through my python and Source code, sure I borked up something there. 1 hour later, I'm doing something else, as I gave up. Then I saw it. Ranged Bombard got disabled in the GlobalDefinesAlt.... Figures.

I re-enabled it. It's fixed for the next release as well.

What can go wrong, will. If it's possible for it to be the simplest thing imaginable, it will be. If it's possible for you to gloss over it until it is the last possibility, no matter how outrageous or unlikely, it will be.

So is 1.51Beta5 the newest version compatible for 2.81?

I'm apparently still on 1.50Beta4... Its getting to be difficult to keep track of all the new versions/numbers.. ;)

My problem turned out to be a bad install because one of the folders had become read only for some reason.

BTW - did you implement the force overwrite of XML for individual buildings? Not important, I only need it to complete the AAranda's religion conversion.

No... Not for lack of trying either. It's far beyond me, but Glider1 said he might add it to RevDCM after he finishes the MP fixes.

I was hoping for a release today, but it's going to have to be moved back indefinitely. I've got an infinite loop bug, something to do with Python, since I haven't made any SDK changes, trying to get it up-to-date with RoM 2.81...
