Better Lakes for VP

Play a lot of games with this mod.
I have a recurring problem, cities with fish lakes can build all maritimes building and boats as if they were coastal. This is all the more problematic as the AI builds fishing boats to improve fish without being able to do so, of course.
The only other mod I use that I think could be causing this problem is More Wonder for VP. But it's just a guess and I don't try a game without it.

I am fairly sure that this mod does not cause that, but the new version of base VP does.

I think this is an issue with base VP, people have been reporting being able to build lighthouses, harbors, etc. My mod just adds buildings/resources so I don't think that can break the base game.

Thank you, I changed in the same time version of VP, Better Lakes and More Wonders and I didn't think to read base VP problems.

Anyways this will be a fun one! Also using 3/4 UC, Sweden's bath replacement gives +1 science to lakes. Hopefully I can grab the lake pantheon before the AI.

You probably just got really lucky with the lake fish, it's just distributed randomly so that shouldn't happen very often. If it does start happening a lot please tell me because it's probably a bug. I'll see if there's a way to better distribute them. Either way I might reduce the amount of lake fish.
 
Updated to Version 2.0!

Main change: a complete overhaul of the resource placement. It's no longer so random, I've made it much more logical and should spread out resources much better. You can adjust the percentages in core/resourcePlacement.lua

Other changes:
- fixed incorrect production cost on fishery
- fishery get +2 gold
- slightly improved some icons
 
The only problem I've noted while using the mod is that the salt lakes tiles use the Salt Luxury Resource icon when in strategic view. Same problem with Lake Fish (though it was fine at first, but it's the icon for the bonus resource found in coastal tiles that is used when in strategic view), but it's more minor since both are bonus resources anyway.

That said, thank you very much for this very nice mod. :)

Maybe this is an unintended interaction but salt in isalt lakes count at bonus resource (a -1 resource with -1:c5food:) which boosts the adjacent spanish Haciendas by 2 :c5food:.

Better lakes for VP and Monopoly Building for VP are so great. Good concept, good balance, good aesthetic and updated to perform better and better.:bounce:

I've made a quick update that should make it so that salt lakes don't buff nearby improvements. So if you update the mod this will be fixed. For now I guess lake fish will buff haciendas, I don't see why not as they don't fill the entire lake, unlike salt.
 
What do you guys think? I'm eager to hear your feedback and balance.

Other than not being a fan of the name, it sounds really fun.

Never been a big fan of mods claiming they're "better" sounds stuck up and unnecessarily hostile towards people who prefer the original.
 
I also love this mod, very nice, make lakes interesting and different. Is it intended that part of lake is Salt Lake and other part is regular lake?

That was Planet SimulatorvLL3, and unfortunately I reinstalled newest beta and started a new game. If I see this again I will post it, I am not familiar with modding, so which logs will you need?
