Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

I used to live in the Northwest, so I know a bunch of these tribes— the Salish, Squamish, Tlingit, and Tsimshian. The Northwest Coast tribes have a bunch of good stuff going for them, Civ-wise (totem poles are a very obvious UB candidate, for instance), but the trouble is that most of those tribes are quite small. It'd be weird to just pick one and make a full-fledged civ out of it, ignoring the others (but, of course, also weird to make a blob out of them).

what about "the salish"? i saw that kind of generalization based on language if i am not mistaken.

That is a terrible, terrible UA. What's the goal there for that? Get sniped out everytime your neighbors go to war with each other?

It does put you in Always War (except for open borders)

Perhaps Instead: Transfer unit to any civ , cs, or barbarian, you receive bonuses for any combat it does (gold, culture, GG points, and vision) If the unit dies, it is returned to your capital at 10% strength. The units will be returned to your controlif the civ/barb is at war with you and they enter your territory or approach one of your units.

I would prefer that you loan your units to other civs and city-states. They get experience when used and return to you after 30 turns. If they are deleted or destroyed, you get monetary compensation.

But...but...that would not make it a historical simulator. :o

Ever heard of the historical sci-fi units, such as the Giant Death Robot from the 17th century? Perhaps you may have heard of plasma weaponry employed by humans who can fly across half a continent during the 18th century against extraterrestrials.

I could definitely like a UA like that!

If they ever make a Cold War DLC scenario, this would be a fantastic UA for it.

I don't know if it's already mentioned but I just thought... what if this super revolutionary civ replaces the barbarians? It would explain all the units we see with a barbarian flag (including the axeman) and maybe even be the reason why in the turn meter they suddenly have such a different symbol...

I have no idea how they would work though... Maybe they can control all the barbarian camps and need to conquer cities before they can be formed in a normal like civ...
Or camps can be developed into cities or they start with a declaration of war with every civ..

The fact that the Barbarian turn still comes at the end of the turn meter would indicate that they continue to be a non-playable faction.

My suspicions are of a civ that looks barbarian - or is able to make it's units look like barbarians.

In the first case, I don't have a clue what it should entail, but there's lots of room for creative gameplay mechanics.

In the second case, this should enable them to raid caravans and kill enemy units, but not take cities (still able to weaken them, but unable to invade them without declaring war).

I wouldn't mind at all if Sparta made it in

Always remember

Spoiler :
THIS IS SPARTA! :trouble:
