[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Is there a time frame for a 3.17 version of this or do you guys just talk back and forth?

There is no time frame for a 3.17 version for two main reasons.

1) There is as yet no time frame for a 3.17 version of all of the component Mods that contribute to this Modpack.

2) Grave, the creator of this mod is active military , and not available at this time to make decisions or re-writes.
Neither is his source code available at this time to facillitate someone else doing updating .

I have no abillity to accomplish anything on my own. I lack technichal skills. About all I can do is answer questions , research, and track down people who know the answers to the things I don't. Maybe organize some thinking and generate some interest along the way.

Drew is the technical talent at this time.

So for now, it's about doing what we can. I think we've made some real progress, thanks to everyone.:goodjob:

Same for me here. I can do XML and a bit of Python but that's about it.
I know how to add things like units, buidlings, resources etc. as long as it doesn't involve SDK-changes :)

Arian, I see that you have a Naval Academy listed in your Supreme Court screen shot.

Could you please tell me about it?

This is it:

That's cool, I thought maybe it was like the ones in the CIV III scenarios, pumping out frigates or destroyers periodically in addition to whatever was in the build que. This would offer more versatillity, such as buffing privateers, so it's got a bigger fun factor!

Ok, since HITM isn't going 3.17 anytime soon, can you guys suggest a good 3.17 mod that is similar to either HITM or WOC?

Things are changing fast.

The Wolfshanze Mod is now 3.17 compliant, contains some of the same extra leaders and civs. I think it's the most flavorful mod there is. I think you can use it with The BUG mod 3.17version. ( The BUG mod is one component of HitM )

Revolution DCM for BTS contains moctezuma's Influence Driven War, and Dale's Combat Mod, both of which are in HitM. They (compiled ? updated?)DCM to 3.17 themselves.

I'm sure they're both superior to Civ IV.

Basically these are all additions of stuff found on the forum. I just added them to HitM :)

All credit goes to artists/creators (quite a lot of people) :D

I wish you would discuss with Wolfshanze how you had done the Civilopedia as I love your style of civilopedia better than the traditional one, because yours makes it easier to see what the units upgrade to. Wonder why they didn't think to improve that feature in BTS or one of its patches....

It's Sevopedia and comes with HitM. You can activate it by hitting CTRL+ALT+O then go to advisors and check Sevopedia.

Got a nice new shiny World Atlas recently :), which shows all kinds natural resources for just about everywhere in great detail. Which had led me to rethink a couple of Civ basics.
For starters, where on earth they got the idea that gold should be limited to desert and plain hills, Silver limited to tundra and snow, and gems only around Jungles is beyond me. May have to allow them all in any hills, and then mess around with percentage chances of them occuring......

Well, I suppose it's more like it could happen anywhere there's a continental plate collision, or a fault/rift. Then stuff can be carried downstream from there, or re-located by glaciers.

Probably a game balance thing.

You're very right Drew, I even found rich veins of gold, silver and gems in our local jewelry store ;)

You're probably right on the game balance....I'm experimenting with Gold In Tundra,Plains and Desert Hills....Silver in Plains, Desert, Tundra and Snow Hills, and Gems in Jungles plus In any desert tile....all with a slightly reduced percentage of occuring...I've also adjusted Whales to be a lot more common and occur at lower latitutdes (San Diego anyone?)..Whales after all in Civ have a rather limited shelf life of usefullness...

Ah but then your Dutch aren't you? You practically invented Diamonds ;)

I want to know how you got it to work. The last time I tried getting Sevopedia to work I had great difficulty and ended up giving up in frustration. I was following instructions but it didn't want to display anything where it should show the links between promotions and also the links between units. Unsure why...

Hey I had an older version of HitM earlier, and I deleted it and downloaded 1.5. I try to start a game but it CtD's every time while loading the map.

-I was using the PerfectWorld map
-I have blue marble v 3.0 installed as custom assets

Is there a compatibility issue or is something else wrong?

It could be PerfectWorld interfering with something, try and play it on a default map. BlueMarble in the custom assets should be fine.

Good idea Chuggi(and Blue Marble shouldn't cause any problems, as its just changes map textures)...did you install the most current HITM patch? found here

If things work ok, you may wish to also install my patch that corrects and updates events found here
