[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Hi all first time poster here and have a problem i'd appreciate some help with. I love HiTM and play it constantly. I have this problem however, with the steath tech. I can't seem to EVER research it, it just won't let me.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you solve it? Other civs have gotten it but not me, I've researched everthing on the board including Furture Tech but it still won't let me click on Stealth or that gua thing.

Any help would be appreciated muchly. TYIA

Hi all!

I can´t build ICBM´s !!!

the button for building the ICBM is greyed out.

I have completed manhattan project, have 4 uranium...

There is no reason I shouldn´t be able to build ICBM´s... I can build guided missiles.

any Ideas???

Are you sure that the UN hasn't banned nukes?

hm, no... even when I build a missile silo it doesn´t work...

I also can´t upgrade bombers to a-bombers...

there was no UN resolution or whatsoever...

the button for the ICBM just stays grey. I can see it but I can´t build it!!! :confused:

Are you sure have all required technologies? It looks like you miss one. Also check if you have all required resourced other then Uranium.

And a tip: you can prevent double-posts by editing your previous message. There is only 1 minute time difference between your double posts above.

It says something like "file HITM unique content is password protected" when it starts extracting...

What is the last third or fourth of the pathway?

Think I confused you. The files I changed won't work as a sub mod (see Kali's post near my original)If you want to test them, first copy HiTM assets folder somewhere safe.

Then extract my files to desktop. Then simply manually overwrite the files (cut and paste)within Hitm directory, with the ones I supplied. I included the folders to make them easier to find. There will be 5 .xml files to overwrite in total.

Then you can play with my changes. If you want to go back to unmodified HiTM later, you can just paste the "assets" file you copied to somwhere safe earlier, back into place.

I have fixed it. The problem lies with Civilization IV complete registry keys. Here is the "Civilization IV" registry key, with InstallDir;
civkey1.jpg

Now if you look in the "Beyond the Sword" registry key folder;
civkey2.jpg

You can see that the "complete" edition has no "InstallDir" registry key here. So I manually added one as per this screenshot;
civkey3.jpg

And voila, History In The Making now works :)

Note: The full location of the registry key looks a bit odd because it's Vista 64. Users of Vista 32/Windows XP may need to look elsewhere for their civilization iv registry key, but the same principle of the fix applies to anybody that has the "Complete" DVD edition - just insert "InstallDir" in to the "Beyond the Sword" key folder with a complete path (including trailing "\" at the end) to the Beyond The Sword folder within the Civilization IV folder.

Hope this helps others, and maybe you can add this to the FAQ for now Grave?

Thanks both Dale & Grave for helping with this problem :)

Annoying little xmas in these images. Can someone update the pictures or direct me to a better fix please?

Could someone upload it to another site please:cry:
I always get access forbidden when download from filefront.:sad:

is HiTM suppose to be like rhyes fall of civilzation with more options or do all civs start at same time/yr or what?

Just like normal Civ, cept with more of everything...so not at all like Rhyes.

The extra civ module is included in the DL; under History in the Making/Assets/Modules. It also didn't work for me when i first got it, but i forgot what i did to fix it.

I stumbled across a surprisingly familiar complaint of a vanishing user interface in another thread- Road to War- as it happens.

Dale said "Usually relates to running the wrong version on the wrong BtS patch level.

For instance, running RtW-UE on BtS 3.13 or RtW-Addon2 on 3.17."

Does that give anybody a clue about our particular issues?

I've tried 4 games now and in every one I get a CTD around 200 - 100 BC. App logs indicate the problem is with CvGameCoreDLL.dll. Any one else have troubles or solutions?

Here's the savegame:

*UPDATE*: Well, I decided to try the CvGameCoreDLL.dll from HiTM 2.1 and guess what... no crash the next turn. Wonder what I broke by doing that though...
