[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Oh, man, you have more deadly exceptions that me
What have we to do? I've tried many maps, civs and options before the start, completely reinstalled Civ4 - all useless

I don't get it... I'm not having any of these issues at all? I know people with international versions of Civ4 have problems with my mods at times... but it's hard for me to diagnose a problem if I can't re-create it.

I have only two types of exceptions always - here are screenshots. Dear Grave, would you be so kind to see them? One is about "WBQuickSave" appears at the first turn and another (about "GetDCMNukesOkay") - before few turns to crash. Or they are the same "minor python errors" that couldn't execute CTD?

Yes, this is the minor python error that I need to look into further. It shouldn't hurt your game... just make your error log file pretty long.

CTD occurs within a turn or 2 after save. There are 4 files in a folder including a Pythonerr2 file but I get invalid file when I try to upload.

I tried your savegame (again) and I can't get a CTD to happen. I can play right through with no issues at all.

You can't directly upload your log files. You need to put them in a zip file, first. Or... just past it into your post, with the CODE tags wrapped around them.

Grave,

Under the new v 3.0 I get the game taking control of my chosen Civ away from me and assgning me to a new Civ. This was not in your past versions, and I'd really rather stay with the Civ I've chosen through the whole game. Is there any way to eliminate/turn this off? This happens without my asking it to. I already have CivChanger disbled.

That's odd... does it hapeen all the time? That's a new one for me...

I found annoying thing in v3.00 - when you point by the mouse at the name of your rival at the scoreboard, his info in down-left corner of the screen doesn't appears! The info was useful, because it contained + and - attitude scores and message "Refuses to talk!"
Maybe it's necessary to create just a patch for 2.02 version which kills "nuke bug" than a more buggy fully new version?

No... I'm not updating v2.02 anymore. In fact, I may do one (maybe two at the most) patches for v3.00 before a "Final" version. As it stands right now, between a high demand job, full-time single parenthood and a very demanding girlfriend (hope she isn't reading this!) I really do not have the time like I used to to Mod computer games anymore. Especially when this mod is a one-man operation....

Hi Grave, I see that a lot of people have problem with v 3.0 so I would like to stay on v 2.02. Can you tell me what I need to do manually to fix bug with nuclear weapons because I think that was the only problem for me in v 2.02. THANX

I've had the worst to first happen to me too. Too bad, because I wasn't having the interface problems that I've had on other mods.

@Grave: Yes, it happens every game that Assimilation is turned on, even with High to Low disabled. The only way I can play v3.0 without this happening is to totally disable Assimilation.

Just FYI I completely emptied out my HITM folder before extracting v3.0 there, so there were no files leftover from v2.02. I am playing with SmartMap and Blue Marble.

Thank you for your service to our country. :hatsoff:

Congratulations on having a girlfiend.

Thanks for all the work you've done to create HitM, and for sharing it with us and kindly helping us with our problems getting it working properly. :worship: If we were back in PA I'd buy you a case of Yeungling Lager. Not practical under the circumstances, but if I could do something else of the sort, send me a PM.

Thanks for giving us HiTM 3.00, Grave. In fact, thanks for giving us HiTM in the first place :). Downloading it as I write and know for sure I'm going to enjoy v3.00!

I hear you. I just hope everybody appreciates the time you do put into modding.:hatsoff:

Ok, it would seem that it does not like 1620 so changed to 1260 and I did not get the CTD. Now I find another annoying aspect - I get a civchange after a certain number of turns and no option to accept or refuse. I cannot find a way to turn this off either.I dont want to keep changing civs.
Looks like you're burned than. It's an option you can only set at the start of a custom game.

@rwglaub: start a custom game, then scroll down the list under Options. There is a box you can clear if you do not want to use Assimiliation at all. This is the only way I can keep the high to low from occuring. Just clearing the Challenge-High to Low box does not work.

BTW, I truly do appreciate Grave and the time he puts into this mod. I play this one almsot exclusivley. It seems to have the best balance of all out there IMHO.

When I load Bug mod 351, the HITM has no interface. Is HITM using a different Bug mod version as when I uninstall Bug the interface reappears! Strange.
Read the post that comes with v3.00. HiTM is updated to BUG v3.60.

@GoUtes53: isn't it possible to deselect the high-low challenge in an XML file perhaps?

I usually play in WinVista x64, but I tried to run HitM under WinXP x86 on another HDD and the mod began to work without CTDs!!! And the worst thing that B.U.G. mod (or simply bug mod ;) ) doesn't work on XP properly! :( There are no scoreboard and modified advisors, if I call options by Ctrl-Alt-O, blank screen appears. One time there was no interface at all.
So, what special in ver.3.00 happened that it doesn't work normally on Vista 64 or give me advice please, how to kill bug mod.
P.S. Compatibility mode doesn't help against CTDs.

Tony.Uk, which Windows you are using with Civ4? Did you find a way to play without errors?
What do you mean "Ok, it would seem that it does not like 1620 so changed to 1260 and I did not get the CTD"? What must I do to kill CTDs? Thanks ahead.

I believe this is the MOD that has the naming for Continents and Oceans.

If I am wrong, please tell me and then ignore this post.

I was wondering how that was achieved and if I could possibly get the code/mod for accomplishing it?

I would be most appreciative. Thank-you.

Have tried many times to get this mod working and I get CTD's within 20-30 turns. How many have actually got to the end of a game with this mod. It is pointless wasting anymore time on this as it is unplayable. I can say I do not have any problems playing other mods like ROM. I also had the same problem as Dimoncheg mentions above. I use Vista 32. Thought the screen resolution was the problem but I have tried many modes and still get CTD's.

No one forcing you to play this mod, so if you want to play other mods then go and play. I didnt play any other mod since this mod was realized and I probably wont play any other after. Buy the way I try 3.0 version and I dont have problem with CTD. Problem for me is that after few turns without asking me (probably because assimilation mod is active) change civ that I control. I didnt see any other problem for now.

I think it's just some people's systems, honestly. Because I don't run into any CTD's at all. HiTM runs smooth as silk for me.

I will fix that annoying Python error about the "DCMNukesOkay" thing with the next patch. That was just a careless oversight on my part that I think I can nip in the butt fairly easily.

So... is Assimiliation the bulk of people issues with v3.00? If so I can see about removing it, although I don't want to.

Ahhh... Yuengling, my favorite! :goodjob:

How do I get rid of Assimilation then until it's fixed???

You can modify the SDK files and remove it that way.

See, I don't use Vista. I just use XP 32-bit. Although I don't see why that would be an issue.
