[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

@Grave: I would not eliminate Assimilation if it were me. It it easily remedied for those having problems by just starting a custom game and clearing (unchecking) the Assimilation check box. Simple thing to do, and it keeps Assimilation in the game for those that want it. Just MHO.

Agree. Assimilation seems as though it would be quite fun (if it actually worked).

Grave: Again thanks for coming back and updating HiTM to 3.0 so quickly :)

I can play the mod on Vista 64 without any crashes...im wondering if saying that though will jinx me haha :)

LOL I knew it haha..now a problem has popped up and im not even sure how to describe it. Im unable to get the bottom information screen(which seems to be set onto one city) off of that and bring any other information. Hmmm that may not even sound right...like I said this is a werid bug. Ive attached my save game(or at least I think I have) See what happens when you first open it. I can start a new game in any era and have no problems...so im unsure if something may have gotten corrupted or what.

I just opened the save file and it goes right to the screen, and all you can see is units...when I click on a city it gets even stranger. Im not sure if I disabled something or what haha.

Made a modern game and started playing...and the same bug popped up...Im gonna try an ancient game and go from there and see if this is happening more. Makes me think now its not my saved game, but something happening somewhere else. NOt sure if anyone else has seen this error or if maybe my files just corrupted.

I can't get your savegame to load at all... post up some error logs. The PythonErr one, specifically.

Ack ok when i go to theplace your link says to i only have 4 files there all txt docs...init, resmgr, pythoner2 and xml. None of these sound like what you want. Could this mean I didnt install Hotm correctly?

Good question...I wouldnt have turned it off, cause I have no idea where it would be to do that. Sigh...sorry to be a pain. Let me load the game up and see if that will do anything to the folder. Also, where would that option be. I also want to say thanks for taking the time out for this Grave. Im right now sitting at my hotel room in Minneapolis, because my wifes Grandmother has gone critical and may not make it the next couple of days. So im in the room holding down the fort and wanting to kinda get away for a bit into some Civ. Thanks much!

Did a search via the find function and that log doesnt show up on my system. I wonder what I could have done to not have it. I also wonder why my save game cant be opened by anyone...thats werid. I just put it into a zip format...strange stuff.

Check the INI file that's located in your "My Documents" BTS Folder. Just do a search for log and you'll come across it.

And sorry to hear about your wife's grandmother. That sucks. :(

According to the file this is whats in there:
[3786.893] DBG: CIV Init
[3786.893] VERSION: App: C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe
[3786.893] VERSION: Build: Mon May 19 08:20:10 2008
[3786.893] VERSION: 3.1.3.1 (104717)
[3799.669] VERSION: Mod Loaded: Mods\HISTORY IN THE MAKING\
[3799.685] DBG: FILE Cat Init

That came from the init folder in logs

But that may not be wht you wanted...I do see CivilizationIV.ini.bak buts a Bak file...is that closer? Sorry to drag this out...but i just cant seem to find that ini file..

Ok here it is I hope lol..
That is the ini file :D. You really need the log. Perhaps it helps running a seach for *.log on your HDD. But perhaps your real life needs more priority now, Civ waits :). Take care.

I have plenty of time sitting here just doing phone calls and such to the family. Ive searched for the file and its not there...I just dont know what to say ive searched for .log and the log folder comes up...but only the above 4 files are in it...not the one he wanted...could that be part of the problem...

Seems like you have logging disabled then. You can enable it in the BUG menu: start a new game and press Ctrl + Shift + O (iirc).

Cowboy, you didn't have logging enabled in the Ini file, that's what Grave meant.

I've edited it for you and also changed one other thing which may help....zipped file here.

View attachment CivilizationIV.zip

Download, unzip and copy over the Civ.ini file you originally found. Then run game and when/if it crashes, you will find a file called PythonErr.Log in C:\Documents and Settings\.....\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Logs.

Post that here..

And sorry to hear of your family troubles

wow thanks everyone ill be posting the error log now...though the game doesnt crash out...i just lose my gui and such. Thanks much Drew and Hyr and Grave...appreciate so much...playing Civ takes my mind off....other matters. I can ask..wht else did you see wrong...and any idea how I could have turned it off?
