[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Cause Vista sux!!! I should know, i run it.

The constant civchanging is caused by Assimilation- Likely the High-to-Low challenge, where the game automatically switches you to the lowest scorer if you are the highest.

So it does this for you even if you don't have the option checked? I just want to confirm this, first. :)

Grave,

Yes, it happens whenever Assimilation is checked (at least for me), even if High to Low Challenge is not checked. The only way to keep it from not happening is to completely disable (uncheck) Assimilation)

Ok, cool. (sorta)

So when you leave Assimiliation unchecked, you can play the game just fine? No other errors/bugs?

I squashed the Python error about "DCMNukesOkay". That will be included in the next patch, along with a few minor "red blob" fixes for some unit graphics.

Hi Grave :D

Haven't dloaded this yet (haven't played Civ in a couple of weeks)...

Just out of interest , did you fix/remove JunitReligion Mod? It wasn't spreading your religion to new cities in last version.

No, it's still there, in hopes I'll get it fixed someday.

It doesn't hurt anything to leave it in there, so I left it. But, if you want to remove it, you need to go into the Assets/Config/History in the Making.xml file and just delete the line that has the tag.

Consequently, Pirates Mod doesn't seem to be working now, either. But I'm not too concerned about that at the moment.

I just need a Python guru to scrub those mod's python files and adjust whats needed in order to make them work in BtS 3.17, but I'm having no such luck finding somebody willing to do it...

I think it's just some people's systems, honestly. Because I don't run into any CTD's at all. HiTM runs smooth as silk for me.

I will fix that annoying Python error about the "DCMNukesOkay" thing with the next patch. That was just a careless oversight on my part that I think I can nip in the butt fairly easily.

So... is Assimiliation the bulk of people issues with v3.00? If so I can see about removing it, although I don't want to.

Ahhh... Yuengling, my favorite! :goodjob:

Thanks!

You can modify the SDK files and remove it that way.

Uh... what?

See, I don't use Vista. I just use XP 32-bit. Although I don't see why that would be an issue.

Yes it must be a Vista problem. I tried cleaning out my start up files in msconfig but no different. It always happen around turn 40. Have you tried looking at Rise of Mankind files and compare the files - you know what to look for as I dont. Just an idea as it is a similar type of mod.

Please, Grave, do something  I can't play any other mod, I love only HitM!
Or give some advice, what to do with CTDs.:worship::please:
How to turn off BUG mod in XP or how to tune mod to work with Vista?

Ok, cool. (sorta)

@Grave: Yes, that is correct. I'd like to play the game with Assimilation and not the high to low, but it does play well for me with Assimilation completely disabled.

Damn Vista to HELL!!!! :mad::lol:

That's one of the main reasons I'm leary about upgrading to Vista... it doesn't seem to be very gamer-friendly ATM.

Do you have problems running other Civ4 mods in Vista? They all use the same source files, etc... so if one mod works, and the other doesn't... I dont' know.

Do me a favor... start up a game and start playing. Save the game about 1 turn before the CTD, then post the save game on here. I wanna see it...

Unfortunately, I don't think you can turn "off" BUG Mod, as it's an integral part of HiTM's interface. Even if you did, none of the Python mods would work, because they're all initiated by BUG Mod now.

As far as the Vista issue... I'm at a loss. Since I don't have that OS, there isn't much I can say/do to trouble shoot that.

Best thing I can say is... post up your error logs and I'll look at them.

Ok, cool. Glad to hear you're not having weird CTD and/or interface problems. BTW... are you using XP or Vista? I'm curious about this now.

I'll try and work with Kael on why Assimiliation is acting weird. Perhaps he can shed some light for me.

Running Vista 32-bits and tried your savegame, Dimoncheg. I crashes for me too.

EDIT #2: bolesting, can you post your logs too? And what OS are you running?

Grave, I am using XP Home Basic Upgrade 32 bit

Just happened to me too - bang I was Joan of Arc instead of Julius - ANNOYING

Assimilation and Flexible Difficulty on - High to Low off

\Skodkim

Another attempt... Here are a savegame before one turn to crash and the dump. :deadhorse:

Ack! I can't even get your game to come up. Blank interface and a few python errors. I back out of your game, start a new one... works just fine.

So bolesting can play just fine on your save game.
Hyronymus gets a CTD (Vista)
I get blank interface

Bolesting, what OS do you have?

I sent Kael a PM about this, waiting to see what he says. If I can't get the issues with Assimiliation resolved, I will remove it.

Although, keep in mind, if you do get your Civ switched, you can hit CTRL+SHIFT+L to open up the PlayerChanger.

Or... just don't check off Assimiliation. :crazyeye:

@Grave: I would not eliminate Assimilation if it were me. It it easily remedied for those having problems by just starting a custom game and clearing (unchecking) the Assimilation check box. Simple thing to do, and it keeps Assimilation in the game for those that want it. Just MHO.
