[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

After reading your post, I loaded the two temp patches. Now I get some XML errors when the mod loads.

Tag: TECH_NUCLEAR_WEAPONS in Info Class was incorrect
Current XML file is xml\Buildings/Ci4BuildinInfos.xml

Tag: BUILDINGCLASS_MANHATTAN_PROJECT in Info Class was incorrect
Current XML file is xml\Buildings/Ci4BuildinInfos.xml

The mod seems to run fine afterwards, but I'm still researching bronze. :)

That error is telling you the game can't find the Nuclear Weapons Tech or the Manhattan Project National Wonder. You must have installed either the patch and/or Interim Fixes incorrectly.

Make sure you installed it in this order:
History in the Making v3.00 --> Patch v3.01 --> Interim Fix #1 --> Interim Fix #2

PATCH v3.02 HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!

See Post #2 for download info.

Below is the change log for v3.02:
Spoiler :

- Fixed interface conflict between BUG Mod/Assimilation
- Added Spanish Inquisition mod by tsentom1
- Added Blood Effects mod by Walter Hawkwood & seZereth
- Removed building requirements for Manhattan Project
- Restored SDI Defense cost to 1000 hammers
- Restored Apollo Program cost to 1600 hammers
- Rearranged Game Options menu to fix various BtS bugs
- Guerilla units for all Civs look the same (except African Civs)
- SDI Defense no longer requires Manhattan Project (Project)
- ForceGameOptions set to “1” in History in the Making.ini

Nope, I did it like this:

History in the Making v3.00 --> Patch v3.01 --> Interim Fix #2 --> Interim Fix #1

Will loading the 3.02 patch fix it?

edit: No, it doesn't. Hopefully, the 3.02 patch will solve my problem of switching civs.

Sigh..put the patch over and bam...those goofy xml errors..will keep trying

Ok heres what I did so far...i cleaned my cache, and deleted out my old HiTM.
Then I installed HiTM 3.0 and then manually i transferred over the files from 3.02 into my HiTM folder and bam...its working now. Will start playing hard core and see what happens!

Just had to say "Go Cowboy!"................ ...still haven't played CIV in any form for ages (my mega reduced Comp gaming is Europa Barbarorum mod for Rome Total War atm, and yes..Im into some juicy arguements over unit balance on their forums, and have just introduced my own mini mod (which is so cheeky on a months limited gameplay, but hey folks like it and thats me ;)))...

Anyways.......To The hardest Civving Cowboy out there..really hope it works for you this time

Things were going good til 2920bc and boom ctd...will try and post my save game. I did just take a barb village and I do have assimliation on so im not sure that is it...but its all I could find.

Ok Ive ruled out 2920 as a bad date(meaning it likes to crash at that date) and taking over a barb village and making it my own. Took one and it transitioned over and all is well. So im not sure what happened in that earlier game. All the same options for creating the world were the same. Guess Ill try again.

Heres a question, if a unit is given to many promotions, can that crash anything? Just wondering because I do have a unit in that save game, that is has few extra abilities.

I also went into BUG and turned off Great person bar...didnt help with the save game :) LOL was worth a try.

Just had another crash on a different date...and the only thing so far the games have in common, are the options, being David, the Celts, and 1 funny thing I noticed is that on both dates, the autosave saved the game. Im going to try and see if I can disable that, though I have no idea why autosaving could cause a crash.

Been testing it now and I have no clue as Im playing games with no options selected other than Pangea and such...but the only thing I can see is that everytime my game CTD's, the game autosaved that day. So to test this I changed the settings to allow 10 autosaves, and everything was moving along fine, til it had to overwrite the very tenth autosave and boom crash. So....I went in and changed it to autosave with only 1 file, and it did the initial one, then one more(which I noticed it always makes one for 4000, then another after that), I saw that was good went to my auto advance time, set they time machine for 100, enter and ctd.

Honestly, Im at my wits end, why this happens around autosaves. Maybe something else just happens to occur on that day when it does save, but I cant figure it out. I tried disabling autosave, and that did nothing as the ctd's still occurred.

I do like some of the new features though, the more advance combat is nice(where you hold down alt for odds...took me a bit to figure it out), I also like the little blood effects, hehe and im really bummed I cant figure out the ctd's. Maybe looking at my save game will give you some ideas, because Im out. If you need anything else let me know. I tried looking for that pythonerr again, but cant seem to find it grrrr...

Haven't had a ctd since Dl'ing 3.02 patch, but was wondering what "cleaning cache" meant anyway? What will that do and how do I do it?

I am playing the HiTM Mod for the first time today, but after a few rounds the game crashes. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. Could somebody take a look at the attached savegame?

Cross Cowboy.... Im totally with ya matey. I have exact same problems as you. Get so far into the game and ... BAM.. CTD.

Like you I tried removing all options but most basic. Even reduced all my graphics to the most crappy and most basic. Tried that autosave thing you did. Still CTDs..

If they were MAEs i would know that its caus im running it with too much graphicly detail but its not ya just get.... Civ4 has stopped working.. find a solution etc etc..

Wish I had my desktop back and not a dumb laptop. I know fine well it would prob run it error free :confused:

What system do you have. Wondering if we have similar systems and maybe its something in vista.

It's me again... I've applied 3.02 patch but nothing changed for me. CTDs and CTDs. CTDs are under Vista SP1 64-bit and under XP SP3 32-bit, with any game options and different maps, having reinstalled the entire game or not. All CTDs occur around 3000 BC, no matter what game situation is. Other mods (Wolfshanze, Rise of Mankind for example) run OK at the same time. Here are my logs and savegame from Win XP. Please, help me somebody or I'll commit suicide soon! If it's important, I have iCore2Duo 8400, Gigabyte GA-P35DS3-L mainboard, Digma 2*2 Gb DDR2 RAM and Zotac nForce 9800GT 512Mb. All hardware is non-overclocked, all drivers are official and fresh.

lol. sorry for the lil chuckle. Ya not the only one. There has to be something we have in common as we keep getting the CTD at the 3000bc mark. mines usually as soon as I press enter for turn 2880bc.

Raking my lil brain tryin to think what it could be. Like you I can play Rise of Mankind (except I get the odd memory allocation error).

I like HITM a lot more than Rise of Mankind as ROM has changed for too much of the game.

Yes, comrade, your Arabian savegame make the game crash the same way as mine do. I think we need to wait version 7.0 of HitM... or Windows 7:crazyeye:

Yeah, RoM's gameplay sucks 'cos it's overloaded. And I think that HitM is the victim of overloading in other case - too buggy. More stuff included - more bugs. As for me, I do not need BUG mod and other suspicious mods. The real cool things in HitM are Dale's Combat Mod  and some new units and buildings.
By the way, who knows, where is the info about the rival civ when you mouse-point the name of the leader/civ in the scoreboard? Since ver. 3.0 I don't see this info in the down-left corner of the screen. Civ attitude points there were useful. Sorry for second post in a row.:please:
