[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Fine by me :)
i was only asking a question (Hitm-related) and i didn't want to argue around, sorry.
But at least this shows that this is indeed a very sensitive issue ;)

hahaha dude you know as well as the rest of us that the issue did not need proving. Hitm wise though im playing as peter the great, hitler is very friendly to me, we are both jewish and im loving the sheer novelty of the situation

edit:Isabella of spain declared war on me a few turns back but seems unable to enter my borders. This happened a few months ago as well in another game but i cannot remember if it was Hitm or another mod, i went through half the game with my enemy basically patrolling my borders

edit 2: False alarm, after a few more turns she and hitler made peace she started coming for me

The last game I played before my current one, I had Solomon of Israel as the founder of Islam, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Persia as the founder of Judaism.

They were both at war with each other from pretty much the start of the game all the way through to the end.

The humourous irony of the situation was not lost on me

Please some earth maps for this mod..25-30 civs ?

some one ..? ^^

i would make some if i knew how

That's one way of looking at things.

I see it differently. Making all religions the same is akin to making all governments or all political parties the same. It's arguably true at a lowest common denominator level when you reduce them all to powerful organizations, but not a very accurate repesentation.

I'm convinced that making all religions equal came from Firaxis' marketing, or legal, or PR departments, with an eye toward maximizing overall profits.

To my way of thinking, Firaxis took credit away from various religions by making their wonders generic. That was understandable, but wrong. The Pyramids and Greek wonders probably wouldn't have been built without religious support. The same can be said of numerous wonders built since.

I see the changes Grave has made in his mod as steps toward enhanced historical accuracy and greater strategic depth. When I want more wonders, I may have to embrace more religions. I'd have no problem making each world wonder civic or religion specific, for greater historical realism and more complex gameplay.

All of that being said, I hope you are able to customize this mod to your liking and maximize your enjoyment of it. I never looked at that part of the code, so I can't even speculate. If I had an answer or suggestion I'd offer it to you.

Good Luck!:)

Hi Rusty Edge, thanks for replying, I'd like to differentiate historic facts from game playability, historically the Notre Dame de Paris as it is today is a tribue to the vision of the Archbishop of Paris, to Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, one of France's most famous architects and to French Gothic architecture in general, so it's more a French wonder then a christian wonder so better assign the wonder to the French civ rather then to a Cherokee chief who dicovered theology first.

Of course I'm joking, the game by nature will never be historically correct, Rice is planted by people, not "found" by dicovering agriculture.

Civics and governments are researched and available for all in the game, so should be wonders, tech related and not religion related.

Historically speaking, world wonders were built by visionaries, great people and powerfull leaders and many times despite religion.

Anyway I've found the lines to change and it's quite simple.

I have never played any mods that modify the gameplay. I always play with just BUG. Lately I felt like trying one, and after reading some posts, this sounds like the most interesting.

Ill check it out this week :)

We need more info than that. What do you mean by 'it doesn't work'?

as i said bevore

i cant see the fond, and if i click the first than the third last= game play

the mod wants to start the game but that an error comes, but i can not tell you kind of error that is, because i cant see the fond

thx

Hi Rusty Edge, thanks for replying, I'd like to differentiate historic facts from game playability, historically the Notre Dame de Paris as it is today is a tribue to the vision of the Archbishop of Paris, to Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, one of France's most famous architects and to French Gothic architecture in general, so it's more a French wonder then a christian wonder so better assign the wonder to the French civ rather then to a Cherokee chief who dicovered theology first.

1) :goodjob: I'm glad you were able to sort it out for yourself.

2) Thanks for the history lesson.

Sometimes religious leaders are good at sponsoring art, or architecture, or fundraising, or politicing, or promoting education, and without them many wonders wouldn't have happened. If in game terms you think that should be represented by great prophets rather than religions, I can see that.

i have checked this now, no i am sure that i have startet beyond the sword...

I'm not a mod expert AT ALL, but it seems to me, that you've put the "HISTORY IN THE MAKING" folder into the /Warlords/Mods folder instead of the /Beyond the Sword/Mods folder.

PATCH v3.19d HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!!!!!

Some pretty significant game changes have been made in this release. After having the opportunity to play several games over the past couple weeks, there were some things that have been wanting to change, and just now got around to making those changes happen.

One of the biggest changes: I didn't like how the Classical/Medieval era was spread out... so I changed that. :)

Then I made a few XML tweaks to just about everything under the sun, to try and make this a little more historically accurate, as well as fun to play.

Naturally, there may have been some things I overlooked, so play a few games with v3.19d and post your opinions!

I have a question and a couple of problems.

Firstly, the awesome game I have been playing recently (ODDYSEE speed, PLANETARY map size, 18 Civs) has been one of my best ever. So fun. I noticed however that from the start of the game, all Aztec melee, archery and mounted units had a 'Blessed' promotion.

I could only find vague information on the promotion in the Civopedia, but I did learn that it requires 'Grave's Placeholder' which in turn requires 'Future Tech'. Is this a bug? How did the Aztecs get this promotion and what are it's effects?

Secondly, I have access to three oil sources, two on land and one on my coast with a drilling platform. All sources are improved and connected to my cities, yet none of my cities have access to oil as a resource. I messed about with the world builder a bit to test it and even gave myself every tech in the game just to see if there was something I was missing.

It seems however that I just cannot have access to oil in any way whatsoever even if I have the resource tiles properly tapped. A game destroying problem to say the least, because it means I can never build Modern Era weapons.

And lastly, I wanted to know if there is a way to remove the Victory alert that is pasted all over the screen after someone meets certain victory conditions. On the last game I played, the Inca won a cultural victory in 1348 AD while people were still just starting the Industrial era. Naturally I wanted to carry on playing the game but the huge white 'PACAL II WINS CULTURAL VICTORY!!!' font pasted all over the screen is annoying at best.

Nice work on the new patch Grave, but I wanted to run this post by you once more (in case you didn't see it). Basically the part about the Oil resouce being completely inaccessible to me, which has happened in two games so far.

The other two points are a concern of mine but not as important as the oil bug, which may just be a problem only I am having. I haven't had a chance to play the new patch yet, but figured I'd ask anyway.
