[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

I'm not very thrilled with FileFront, to be honest.

The only reason I'm using it is because it was easy to register, and they don't have a limit on the size of the file you want hosted. Other places I've seen give size restrictions, require a credit card, etc.

Hi Grave!

Some of the modern air units lack the

iAirUnitCap

tag to "1". Without, you could have three dozens of advanced fighters in a city.

And the missile silo is of no use, as the icbm does not require it.

Merry christmas, zoid

Thanks, man.

This will be fixed in the next patch.

OK fellas, I'm looking at the Civics now. Give me some ideas for balancing them better. This is the last leg of the new patch, so the sooner I can iron this out, the faster it can be released! :please:

you should steal the map generator and the graphics from world peice mod they look really nice. way better than anything i have seen in any mod.

Never heard of World Piece. I'll check it out. Can't have enough maps!

NOW.... what I really need help with are some names for unique Great People... specifically for Texas. What I need is a good list of famous Texan scientists, engineers and spies.

I think I took care of the Civics. They look pretty nice to me, IMHO. So really, the last thing I need before I release the next version of HiTM is some Texan GP names.

Ok, here's a shot, although bear in mind I know VERY little of Texan History.

(From Wikipedia)

Great Engineers:
M. King Hubbert (1903–1989), geophysicist
Jack Kilby, electrical engineer
Robert Dennard (born 1932), computer scientist and inventor

Great Scientists:
* Denton Cooley (born 1920), pioneering heart surgeon
* Michael E. DeBakey (born 1908), pioneering heart surgeon
* Chu Ching-wu, physicist
* Bryce DeWitt, physicist, co-developed Wheeler-DeWitt equation ("wave function of the Universe")
* Leonard Eugene Dickson, mathematician
* G.B. Halsted, mathematician
* Oscar Monnig (1902–1999), astronomer and meteoricist
* Hermann Joseph Muller, geneticist, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine
* Ilya Prigogine, physicist and chemist, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry
* John Tate, mathematician, Wolf Prize in Mathematics
* Karen Uhlenbeck, mathematician, National Medal of Science
* Harry Vandiver, mathematician
* Steven Weinberg, Nobel Laureate in Physics
* Spencer Wells, geneticist and anthropologist
* John A. Wheeler, physicist, Wolf Prize in Physics, coined the term 'black hole'

(You might even be able to take a couple from the GS list and put it in GE...

Great Spies:
José Antonio Navarro
Juan Seguin
Henry Eustace McCulloch

Should be enough to get you started... I hope :)

Oh man, am I looking forward to this update...HITM rocks!

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!

Thanks for that list. :goodjob:

I had quite a few of those names already, but a few that I didn't... and every bit helps!

I found a few more names while sitting at work today, so I should have close to every name I need. I'm going for 16 names per Great Specialist. :eek:

Oh man, am I looking forward to this update...HITM rocks!

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!

Soon young grasshopper.... soon. ;)

I'm going to try and get this out by New Years... but no promises though!

I think scientists/engineers you've got at least a little bit of crossover there... but Spies? hmmm... I think that's gonna be a bit more difficult. I even tried looking in the more generic lists of (eg Confederate) spies who were associated with Texas by residence or birth... didn't come up with a whole lot. Most of the more famous Texans in a military regard that I came across were from the fighting side of things as opposed to espionage. If I find anything else, I'll let you know... I'm as anxious for the update as everyone else. :D

Alot of the Texas Rangers during the Texas Revolution were considered spies... it was actually alot easier to find Texas spies than it was Engineers!

Grave any thoughts on the world piece mod i really like the maps it generates and graphics for the map tiles really make the game look good :)

Thanks, I'll look into this. :goodjob:

Another thing :D This is BY FAR THE BEST MOD for BTS :goodjob:

Just wait until you see the next revision! I think you'll all be very pleased with it. :mischief:

I hope I don't report a bug twice now, but here is my problem:
I just installed the mod. After testing it I downloaded the patch and put the 2 together. When I start a game I don't have any menu's or buttons. I can use my keyboard to play but there are no buttons to click on for my mouse. Esc works so I can end the game and the game itself seems to work fine. Its just that there isn't anything else that the map on my screen.
I have Vista on my computer, but when I drive civ under XP I still have the problem...
I hope I have done just something wrong, because this mod sound great! And the first turn of the plain version without the patch where great to.:sad:
