[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Yes that fix it for me got it working

; Modular XML Loading
ModularLoading = 1 this is much if you want it to load

Going to test custom game with all default settings

Ok custom works also my load time just under 2 mins

You guys aren't overwriting the older version of the mod, are you? If you are... don't. Delete the old one and unzip this one into your MODS folder.

Probably wouldn't hurt to clear the cache either.

Oh no, no, no! Do not overwrite any copies of HiTM! Delete those and install fresh. It's in the Readme. :)

Making one is no problem. It's just with the new DLL file, the game will crash if you try playing a vanilla BtS scenario. But when you make one, and save it as a scenario, it'll work just fine.

In fact, I encourage people to make scenarios for HiTM! If you do, I'll gladly advertise them on this thread!

At least I know now it isn't broken.

Eh, OK, I did simply just download into the existing HitM-folder and still: no problem.

Setting Modular Loading from 0 to 1 might indeed be the answer (I too did this some time ago) to these crash reports.

Thx for the OK on delivering a scenario; I think it might be fun (and if it works out there may be more...)!

:hatsoff:

Guys,

I just discovered a VERY small, but critical bug that causes a CTD anytime you choose the Byzantine, Carthage, Greece or Rome. It has to do with the Settler flavor units. There's a typo in it.

Give me a couple minutes and I'll come up with a patch. It'll be very small, only one file (CIV4UnitArtStyleTypeInfos.xml).

If you want, you can do the following:

Go into CIV4UnitArtStyleTypeInfos.xml, and for the GRECO_ROMAN, BYZANTIUM, CARTHAGE, GREECE and ROMAN UnitArtStyles, replace the Settler settings with this:

Code:
				<StyleUnit>
					<UnitType>UNIT_SETTLER</UnitType>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_EUROPEAN</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_EUROPEAN_MODERN</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_EUROPEAN</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_FEMALE_EUROPEAN</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_FEMALE_EUROPEAN_MODERN</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_FEMALE_EUROPEAN</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
					<UnitMeshGroup>
						<EarlyArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_CHILD_EUROPEAN</EarlyArtDefineTag>
						<LateArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_CHILD_EUROPEAN_MODERN</LateArtDefineTag>
						<MiddleArtDefineTag>ART_DEF_UNIT_SETTLER_CHILD_EUROPEAN</MiddleArtDefineTag>
					</UnitMeshGroup>
				</StyleUnit>

Again, sorry about that. :(

Nope mine keeps crashing, mine was already set to 1 for modular, and i did delete the old copy prior to put this copy in the folder. I cant even get into anything this time to see whats wrong? This was a clean install, even a second d/l?? Plus i completely deleted the custom assets folder. I choose America.

Four buttons are there four Airbomb Missions or three I see four buttons
"Airbomb defenses"
"Airbomb buildings"
"Airbomb factories"
"Port airbomb"

My 8mb connection is dloading from file front at 28kb/s E.T.A 2hrs 20 mins (suppose its one of the busiest days of the year for net traffic)....oh well, my whole body feels beaten up by alcohol, returning to bed, will test later when I get it...and Thanks again Grave:----new resources and new traits woowoo:goodjob:

As far as the flag goes, dont travel in the South then with it on you or on your car then!

What is it with you and that flag?:p

Is that a few New Mexican minutes, as in after the siesta? :)

Bonnie Blue flag:

"The Bonnie Blue Flag" which became the second most popular patriotic song/flag of the Confederacy.

I just fell it should be a civ by itself, then no problem as with the rebel flag, but not for the USA??

Of course this is just an opinion, and you know what they are worth? LOL

Ok, thanks. I thought such angst about the Flag of The Republic of Western Florida was strange. In the Confederate context it is more understandable.:crazyeye:

I don't understand why you guys are getting CTD's at all. I haven't experienced one yet, and I'm playing through a game and haven't experienced a single show-stopper yet (bug testing). :confused:

I can't be overwriting the older version because this is the first version I have downloaded. And just to be clear I put your folder into the mods folder in the BTS part of CIV 4. This is what mine looks like:

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods

And I haven't changed anything with modular loading, should I? And if I do could you please explain how.

Both times I chose one of those Civilizations, so this could very well be my problem. If this does turn out to be the problem, should I still do something with the modular loading?

Again sorry for the trouble, looking forward to playing.

Find anything about the crashes yet??

I have no idea why it's not working for you, but it's working for everybody else? :confused:

I'm sorry, Roamty, I'm not sure what you mean? :confused:

There are 4 new bombing missions, yes. There are also 4 buttons go go along with them... if that's what you mean?

Yes... that is the correct path for the mod. Either that or in your My Documents will work fine.

And I haven't changed anything with modular loading, should I? And if I do could you please explain how.

You'll need to go into your My Documents/Beyond the Sword directory and enable Modular loading in the INI file.

Both times I chose one of those Civilizations, so this could very well be my problem. If this does turn out to be the problem, should I still do something with the modular loading?

The little code I posted a few posts above will solve the issue with CTD's with the "Greco-Roman" empires. It was a very small typo in the ArtDefines that scewed everything up those particular empires.

I would still enable the Modular loading though. Saves you any heartache later. :)

I tried playing a game as the Russians and I faced the same problems when I tried playing as Greece, or Byzantium.

Russia works just fine for me.

Are you sure the AI isn't using one of the Greco Roman based civs? That would still cause a CTD if you didn't fix the Settler issue I outlined above.

But just download Patch v1.01 and it should be all cleared up for you.

I hadn't thought it would have caused the same problem if the AI was using one of those civs so that is a possibility. I also changed the Modular loading thing to 1. Now I know I am being a bit of a pain but where do I download the patch to?
Do I just put it in the original folder of History in the making?

So would it go here?

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Sorry for all the questions I know are obvious to you, but I don't know much about computers. Thank you for the help so far :)

Yeah, the problem would still exist for the AI as far as the CTD goes. What the game does is check all the Art files for the chosen civilizations when you start a game. So even if the AI had one of the Civs that had the bad Settler Art Files, it would still cause a crash.

All that is fixed with Patch v1.01 ;)

All you need to do is unzip the Patch file into your MODS directory. Or, you could always unzip it onto your Desktop, then cut/paste straight into your HISTORY IN THE MAKING directory, overwriting everything it prompts for.

No problem... glad I could help! Hope you enjoy the mod. :king:
