[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

No, you can purchase extra promotions beyond the ones provided with the barracks. If you are willing to spend a certain sum of gold, you may end up having a unit with 10 promotions for example. All purchased.

Being a rich civ with 100.000 gold for instance would finally pay off in this case. Plus, each player and AI can inbest in quality over quantity. I thing it's an interesting concept. The code is already written so it should be easy (relatively) to implement. I don't know if this is possible as an extra feature or MUST be implemented in the basic HiTM, just an idea.

:goodjob:

Are you serious!? I never knew that!!!! :crazyeye:

Carthage (on Emp/Huge)..... 6:commerce: from coastal tiles! :crazyeye:

Civ4ScreenShot0118.JPG

Ok its A Golden Age but still 5:commerce: normally, and after I get Cothons 5 trade routes in Carthage, then note the Grt Eng, I'm split between Via Appia now for 7 trade routes ;)) and either Grt Lib or even save him for the Senate.....and of course Temp of Artemis is going to be a no brainer.

A medium sized island with every city coastal plus Grt Lighthouse and Colossus is of course a perfect scenario for Carthage....(cruddy lack of luxuries though, come on mines pop some pretty metals for me...)

Civ4ScreenShot0119.JPG

Maybe see if I can get optics pre AD, never managed that.....

Super peaceful super traders, makes a nice change :)

Fun game, I can see myself invading someone with Rifles against Longbows eventually

Grave:- On a serious point, the Carthaginian Lighthouse may (not saying it is), be just a little too good because it actually gives +2:commerce: to all water tiles not one (because the financial bonus kicks in and pushes it from 2:commerce: to 4:commerce:)....This of course doesn't apply to the mix and match leaders/civs option (unless u play another financial leader)

I think need some costal building to give :hammers: in water plot.

Island games it's hard get some production. I remember in Civ 2 there was a refing plataform or something like that.

@Grave

Thanks for the look at my map. Fixed and reposted. More to come.

Humm, hearing that, I hate to have Hannibal as next neighbor early in the game. Once he gets Sailing it is as if all his coastal tiles are full grown towns  . You might think of giving the Carthaginians their own version of the Shipyard. Some free promotion to their naval units from it would be nice.

Good Point, +1 making +2:commerce: is well, just too much....

Later in that game (for anyone interested)....

Civ4ScreenShot0121.JPG

Carthage has becone a hydra(8 trade routes all +50%).Ok it would on ANY map, but as you can see soon, I've 9 cities plus one "just because its got horses" I captured from Brennus (in my only war, even though Ethiopia and Holland have naged and nagged and nagged ad infinitum...I now have def pacts with both)...

BUT Poland has 27 cities , they destroyed both Portugal and Japan, and if it wasn't for the fact I'm so ridiculously more advanced than anyone else (and EMP lvl remember), I'd be a bit scared. But I'm nearly at Rifles (on my 2nd consec GA, 3rd in total, little snowballs make avalanches;)), the best anyone else has is maces...

Civ4ScreenShot0122.JPG

Never tried to win with 1/3 of the amount of cities of an ai on EMP b4...btw did I mention I've 5 Holy cities (and shrines in all) .....all down to the Carth lighthouse, Grt Lighthouse, Colossus and a snowball that got bigger fast :)

Great fun game though....

P.S. On a personal opinion, Lepsis is building a granary at size 9....the most overrated building in the game...if you don't have the happiness to cope with population, then a granary is shooting yourslef in the foot and head.....without any happiness resources, a non char civ in HiTM (on my lvl) can only get a city to size 3 b4 it gets unhappy...if you start whipping you end up with size 2 cities that are unhappy....as SarahChalke would say "What the frik"....so granary smanery...;) ....I reckon the ai wastes a lot of time building them early when often they are nigh but useless....(that probably belongs in the strategy section arguements;))

ANYWAYS, back to the game and the vino, enjoying both (its a weekend);)

Mmm, I'm enjoying my HitM game too. Catherine smacking down with cossacks.

I love the sweep of this mod at marathon. Dont ususally play large maps, but 'perfect world' is good.

Hi all, I'm still playing ver. 1.5,
just love the expamded city mod.

If there are problems with the current mode, why
not implement the 3 Squares City Radius as implemented
with WOC or VISA.

You go from 2 Tiles to 3 Tiles after a certain culture is
achieved, the city view is clear so you can tell which tiles
to work, extra health and happiness needed for large city
is compensated by adding more resources to the game,
you got them? Go ahead and expand, don't have them?
Stop city growth, couldn't be more simpler, they even
added an option to disable 3 tiles city radius from within
the custom screen.

Many thanks

I think the forest health issue with Mylon's Expanded City Radius mod has been resolved. I tested it this weekend and didn't run into any problems with it.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the obscure CTD only a handful of people get. I'd like some of those people to try out Mylon's mod as a stand-alone before actually putting it back into the game. I'm going to PM Toft and see if he would field test this for me.

In the mean time... I have a little treat for v1.52. Something I've been working on for a good two months... I think you'll enjoy it.

I'll leave it at that. ;)

You should get a job with the evening news or something, your a pro at leaving us with teasers ;) Now I can't wait, darn it!!:crazyeye:

Too Grave:
I see you use Expanded City Radius by Mylon, but I could only use 2 tiles outside the city. I thought that the cityradius was expanded from 2 too 3.

If you are adding your flavored civics modcomp to HITM, all I can say to that is:

Holy Crap! Anothersolid contribution by Grave!

Ok, I suppose a little teaser screenshot is in order. :p

I was able to convert TheLopez' original Inquisiton mod from Warlords to BtS. This is different than the one BMarnz made, as mine is SDK, while his (I believe) is based off the Gods of Old mod, which is Python.

This is still a rough beta, as right now my Inquisitor isn't customizable via INI or GlobalDefines.xml files. TheLopez had his Inquisitor customizable via Python and an INI file... but I can't get it to work.

If somebody talented enough in Python would like to help... or better yet, somebody who can work SDK files so that I can use GlobalDefinesAlt.xml instead of Python, I COULD USE YOUR HELP!

Anyway, I've been testing this since mid week, and so far it works great. Again, the only difference between TheLopez' version and mine is you can customize his... mine you can't. I'm still playing around with it, but expect to see this in v1.52.

Some game mechanics:

In order to get the Inquisitor to work, you:

- Need a State Religion
- Must have the Theocracy Civic
- The State Religion must be present in the city your going to perform an Inquisition mission in
- In order to perform the Inquisition mission in another civilization, you must have Open Borders agreement AND they must have the same State Religion as you

I'm intrigued...I use Bmarnz's Modcomp all the time. Can I ask what the success rate will be for the Inquisitor? Will it work in foreign cities?

Also, the other Modcomp TheLopez did that I liked a great deal was the 2 Great people add-ons he did...Great Statesmen and Great Doctors...Could those be added in later as well?

Success rate is the same as the Missionary... what ever that is.

I tried those several months ago... didn't turn out very well. I doubt you'll see me do those two... too much work. Inquisition was pretty straight forward to do. Those other two require alot of code tweaking to work right.

Hey Grave I don't know what's happened :/ I have installed 1.5 as per the readme. i.e I deleted my previous version of the mod and only installed HitM to my C:Prog Files directory.

Now the fonts on the menu screen are all wrong, and the only maps I seem to be able to play are GraveMap and Terra2 and PerfectWorld but I cant play Terra2 or PW with HitM. Any ideas what the hell could have gone wrong?

Sounds like you installed it incorrectly some how. I'd completely delete the mod and re-install it. Also clear out your cache.
