Big ol cave discovered in Vietnam

If it's a cave how do you have trees growing in it?

Oh no, does that mean Mammoth Cave won't be the world's largest anymore? Poor Kentucky. At least it will be America's largest. To think we lost out to Nam.

They'd better be careful exploring that thing, in case they end up like those girls in the Descent.

That would make for an awesome supervillain lair .
You can start planes from there, you have lots of space for all sorts of doomsday devices and you could have a cyborg-monkey army patrolling the jungles.
Sadly the location is public knowledge now .

Highly recommend the National Geographic article on this one. There was also a great one a few months back on "blue hole" caves in the Bahamas. Giant underwater oxygen-less timecapsule caves in the Bahamas. Watched a Nova on that piece last night online, also excellent.

This is the really cool part. A large section of the top of the cave...caved in, exposing a portion of the cave to sunlight and rain. Over time this eventually developed into a mini-jungle with its own ecosystem. It's really very cool. The explorers call it the Garden of Edam.
