BirdNES 3: Discussions & Questions

The Sultanate of Gujarat should actually historically be quite friendly to you. Main trade partners, brothers in faith and so on.

I hope we are friendly to each other Egypt LOL I sent you a proposal

You also can't rely on the spice route, most of the Malay Archipelago is in a state of flux atm.

All of that is good information to remember.

@Espoir: NPC Indian nations will repond to you diplo once the update is posted.

Espoir, please Edit posts for diplomac and quote diplomacy you are responding to?

It will make my evetual Overseas conquering easier. As well as closer-up NPC diplo from Bird.

Please, Edit posts (so you don't post 10 posts of diplomacy for 12 people)and quote diplomacy you are responding to so they can see the complete conversation so far.

This part was good advice. ^^

It's not nearly as bad as the Silk Road, though. Also, the Malay Archipelago is not the only source of spices. :p

To Barbak Shah
From Gujarat Sultanate

We will support you to your throne if you help us! We will make you commander of all Delhi soldiers who join us if you join us in war with those loyal to you and one day you may become the real Sultan of Delhi!

That's actually pretty good. In the interests of chaos, may I remind you that the Delhi Sultanate is a (quasi)feudal state with severely weakening central authority, meaning that its various local governors (including Barbak, if I understand correctly) and their vassal warriors are going to be pretty much free to support you in the war if they want; the Sultan can't really stop them at this point except by actually attacking them and defeating them in battle.

... I don't know when I say flux, it's fairly fluxy. Arrival of Islam, no dominant polity, a serious collapse in the old Mandala system and the general transfer of political power northwards makes things fairly dicey. If its pepper he's talking about can he get with the new NESing convention of calling pepper, pepper, not spice. Spice henceforth refers to only the products of the Spice Islands proper. Besides at this stage European "pepper" is likely not black pepper at all, sneaky Indian intermediaries :p

The relevant point is that the Indian Ocean trade in general is still thriving.

What about cloves?

Spices include cloves, nutmeg and mace. Cloves are a touch iffy. However the NESing convention of spice as of now includes cloves (this being euro-centric and all I don't see it likely that Europeans will settle on the other sources). Drug (in the historic sense) also deserves a clear and concise definition.

Clove cigarettes?

Close, I had to work out how many posts it would take so I thought I book them now. I will post the text soon, but I have more map work to do, so those will go up later; and stats will be last. Inkas, Aztecs, and unnamed others will get their updates & maps separately either later tonight or tomorrow.

The text is up now.
