Bjørn's Props and 3d bits

NavyDawg, I found a flaw with the SMG. It has some minor flipped normals (meaning they look good in all 3d programs other than Poser). The edge near the top front of the gun and part of the cooling barrel on the right forward bar. I have fixed them in the BASE gun, but I need to remake every single morph target to fix the gun. If you need me to fix it so you can use it, lemme know and I will push it up in the que.

Odin, the same helmet as you entered in the lottery I ran a few months back?

If so, ok I will add it to the que. But, I got a lot in there and not as much time as I would wish for.

Bjorn,
Thanks for the heads up. If you want to release the new meshes (3ds?), I can work with that. No need to make the morphs and poser-ize it.

Thanks, but the biggest problem I have is not the rigging or what have you, but fixing the normals. This can not easily be done with Poser. The only reliable way I have found to fix them is in the modeller. I save the model, import it in to Poser (since only poser cares about them) look for flaws find the related polygons and one by one flip them.

With clothing, there is the that plus something is typically screwy with the joint parameters when I make clothing. I load the obj/3ds file, go to the setup room, load the bones from the PDM and autogroup it and then work on fixing what was grabbed. But, this is after I have the mesh working in Poser. I sure wish Poser would get an update to allow it to handle meshes in the exact same way as every other 3d application no the planet.

:woohoo: thanks dude!! I just saw this :)
now I will have me ww1 Serbian Infantry

:D

thanks again!:king:

Dang I need to really get down with poser and put your props to good use. That new barracks cap will be usefull for alot of things.

Bjorn, I offer a warm and heartfelt thank you to a true gentleman. Thank you, ;).

Here's a preview of the helmet in action:

Unfortunately, the blaster would not load, but luckily I had another Rebel blaster prop handy. Perhaps your version was too new?

Man Bjorn, your props always look emaculate! With so many resources at my disposal, making that army of industrial and modern soldier units will be easy as pie...only need some more BDUs and other uniforms/shirts (but I already informed you of that via PM ;)). Keep it up!

Good to see it in action. Strange that my Blaster would not load. The image I rendered was within Poser. I will look at the PP2 file and see if I need to edit something there.
I did not know there was another rebel blaster, or I might not have bothered making one. Still, I like the one I made as it is as close to the source images as could be.
If you want to compare mine, you could always just import the 3ds file I included and texture it yourself. Set scaling to around 15% of standard figure on import options.

btw: I made the SW looking shirt by using the collar I made on kinboats shirt and then used the grouping tool to repaint it slightly. Do you need the collar as a seperate prop? I will fairly soon (well before christmas) release some alternate clothing, and will try to include long sleeved shirts.

I have not forgotten you. I have some BDUs (or stuff which I can tweak and call BDUs). I am working on cleaning them up.

My next release of props will be the coolie hat and some oriental weapons. I currently have two chinese spears made (with morphing silk tassles, I made two because I made one accurately but it looks a little silly, so I made a fake one which looks a bit better). I am thinking of seeing if I can make nunchucks. I might make Sai's, Tonfa or a oriental halabard as well.

Look for the oriental stuff this week. Then I will either make a unit, your uniform or clean up and release the pirate pack. (I have 6 hats, a pistol, a hook, a pegleg, eye patch and misc. other pirate props between 80 and 100% complete).

Well, I have an older version of Poser, perhaps that's why it wouldn't load. As for the shirt, I was wondering how you made that. However, what I have here is closer to the actual uniform in the movies.. however, I think I might change the shirt to white. (What I did, was used your shirt, and made the arms invisible, then I used the tunic and made the chest and abdomen invisible, then I put the vest on top of it, and then used some primitives to cover up the shirt parts that were sticking out.) More clothing would be fantastic!

updated the Stars Wars props.

Changes to v1.1
Fixed bug where the blaster PP2 actually contained the helmet. Doh! Also edited the PP2s to change the version of Poser from 7 to 4 so that older versions of poser would not get a warning when opening the props.

I'm definitely going to get Poser one of these days. I can't wait to try my hand at some human oonits!! These props are excellent!! :goodjob:

BTW Thanks again for the tip on how to get Google Sketchup into Bryce. I love using Sketchup. You seem to know every trick to the trade. :hatsoff:

You are very welcome. And, your modeling is really taking off. I have enjoyed watching your threads.
No I do not know every trick. I do know a few. I am curious. I like to try stuff. But, I am not even the best modeler in this small pond. Kinboats stuff and Utahjazz's stuff is better for Poser. Orthanc and Aaglo do amazing stuff with POVRay. Vingrjoe does a real good job with 3dsmax. And, so on... I think my only real claim to fame is that I have tried more of the the tools than most others.

As to humans, well... bryce needds both humans and mechanical units. Right now, I am facinated with those that combine both. But, the modeling of all the parts and animation of them takes ages and ages for a dabbler like me.

btw: since you are a Bryce user, it might amuse you to know that I still do 90% of my modeling in the same way as bryce does. I just use a different app to make the models (even those I animate in Bryce, I no longer model inside Bryce).
