Bjørn's Props and 3d bits

Love the new hats and they will actually be good for an even longer time frame than you mentioned.

a officer's hat (think policeman style), a NCO's (a soft split in the middle hat), the same hat in Russian trim, a oriental round hat, a very bad (to be remade) Japanese NCO/officers hat (looks closer to a Civil war hat somehow)
An officers hat will be very usefull for alot of units including PLA. The nco hat if I am envisioning it correctly sounds like what we used to a call a c*nt cap when I was in the military and would be good for lots of units also. If the japanese hat looks like a kepi please include it, that would also be usefull.

Yeah, we called it the same. But I honestly try to not use that 'ole USMC language any more. Especially in public. I like the Russian version I made more. I can not quite place it, but I goofed somewhere on the American one and I am having a hard time making it a 2nd time.

I have 3 versions of the officers semi-made- Not super happy with them, and so they are still "pending". If you wanna know how they are modeled, it is simple. You take a CONE place it at an angle and cut the top off. The height of the cone determins the angle of the hat sides (assuming you skip the deformers). You then use (optionally) a torus around the edge to create a trim on top. A cylinder is the base of the hat. A trimmed cone creates the brim... trim by making it hollow.... placing it at an angle, use a cylinder to cut out a shape (boolean intersection) and you have a basic officers hat in around 5-10 mins. Then a few hours tweaking it... and a few more fighting Poser and viola.

Nice 8-point!

hehe, glad you like them. If you look closely you will see a few flaws in the shirt. I thought I was on a roll when it worked so well.... than I finally used it with PDM pants, and I had modeled the whole thing too short... or more accurately I made the pants too tall, and made the shirt to fit the pants. Ok, made some magnets and re-sized and now it fits with the pants. I had some problems getting the joint parameters right in the pants, and so decided to use the already posted ones. Unfortunately the belt did not resize as nicely as the shirt. But, it does not show the flaws at even double or triple civ scale, so should be ok.

I thought about posting just the collor, so you can added to to either SKINsuits or other shirts to get quick and dirt shirts of different styles.
I am glad you guys like 'em. I only have 1 more item to make before I can finally see if I remember how to animate a unit not just make props for them.

and just a sneak peak at something else that is coming...
I am also gonna release 2 old fashioned hats (bicorn and tricorn, aka pirate hats) along with a telescope, hand hook, peg leg, musket pistol and maybe a head rag as a belated birthday present for someone.

Love the new shirt and pith helmet, both will come in handy.

All those props will also be appreciated. And a "drive on rag" will also be good for modern special forces units.

It ought to be possible to make those helms inside Poser without too much difficulty - just use Bjornlo's Dacian helm as a base, and then put some toruses over it to build up a new crown section. And a little sphere right on the top, and some more around the rim.

Actually I was thinking of making those guys when I get a chance - the only difficulty really is making a bowman animation, since I've never done one before...

Any chance of a helmet please for the Golden Warriors/Archers in this picture?[/IMG]
If you prefer that I make it to doing as Plotinus suggested...
Sure, I have a unit I am trying to finish, but once I am done I will make a batch of props again.

How urgent is this?

Is there a chance of a better reference image? Or drawing?

I've no other image to help I'm afraid; but I'll alert Blue Monkey, who might have. It's reasonably urgent, as I'd like to use it in Anno Domini - which I'm putting the finishing touches to with an aim to release this Autumn (well, as soon as possible actually!!)

Plotinus, whilst your help is appreciated, making props is something I'm not very good at!! However, I tell you what, I'll try this and if I'm not successful, I'll let you know Bjornlo ;) .

OK. As I often say, you can do an awful lot with primitives (I made the flaming sword for my Nazgul out of them, for example), so it's worth getting the hang of tinkering with them even if it doesn't work out for this particular project.

Thanks Bjorn!
That really helps in my efforts and is awesome!
Nice suits btw, hope you might makes them available eventually. ;)

I am generally unhappy with the clothing I make, and so do not share them as quickly as I do the props. But, I will think about it. The problem is I get with two things. 1 is called Normals a little PITA with poser where it renders as invisible certain polygons based on their "facing". Only Poser does this, and so it is really a bother. Since it is close to impossible to find and fix them all. You will see normals issues with props and clothing from every creator here. But for reasons which puzzle me, I seem to get bitten by it worse, and my clothing gets it worse than my props. I use the same tools to model both props and clothing (a mix of LW, C4d and occasionally Truespace).

That and my rigging is occasionally messed up. Specifically I spend ages and ages tweaking the joint parameters until I am able to live with the results.
