Blackened Skies

OOC: It's really up to you what Italy should give dry farts about. It's a game, and you're a player. But right now you've managed to get world powers lining up to join the "Screw Italy" club. :)

OOC: By proposing that their ships should inform my navy and form convoys before they enter freaking war zone. Gotta love the 30s. Since both Russia and UK are lead my powerhungry maniac, that was to br expected. Oh yes and now screw Russia.

From: Italy

Greece trade is not in danger. But any russian vessel that somehow manages to reach the Med will be shoot on sight. We're still at war afterall.

From: Russia
To: Italy

Our war against Hungary and Romania was independent from the war between you and the socialists, for whom we have little love, but your ignoring of our request forces us to embargo Italian goods. We ask Greece to do the same. The Russian government will give financial aid to Greece for any income lost due to this action

EDIT:

Russia is forced to declare war on Italy due to its violation of international law. We ask Greece to do the same.

You attacked our allies. by this you declared war against us, too. So we didn't break any international law. Unless his majesty starts making up laws, just like he makes up claims to occupy other nations.
It is sad that the rightous nations of the world either eat themself or fight the socialist, while such a maniac sits on the russian throne. It may be the end of Italy and our people may even hate us for it, but this goverment of italy and the King of Italy can not accept this .
Neither Germany nor Russias actions. We hope that the nation of this world will maybe one day stop you, if we fail to.

OOC: sadly all other major power are mostly fascists or other dumb things.

Good luck fighting all of Europe.

OOC: Congratulations on Italy for alienating everyone and their mom :p

@All:

One week until orders are due, we had an excellent and quick update this time let's keep up the streak! :)

OOC: It's really up to you what Italy should give dry farts about. It's a game, and you're a player. But right now you've managed to get world powers lining up to join the "Screw Italy" club. :)

If I join in can I have Sicily?

Transcript of a Radio Interview

14th April 1935 18:30 BST

Wells: Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen. I'm Anthony Wells and this is UKPR's daily political interview. Today we have with us the Viscount Trevelyan once again. We haven't managed to get him on the program since back during the aftermath of the Night of the Queen's Hounds. With Lords no longer meeting in London he hasn't had much reason to be back in the City for quite some time.

How are you today Herbert?

Trevelyan: Glad to be back in England,as you say its been a reasonable while for me.

Wells: So tell us Herbert, you've been walking a strange line constitutionally with the Nuwara Eliya Parliament and India's place constitutionally in general, what's been your thoughts on the whole matter?

Trevelyan: When I came to be appointed Governor-General, seven years ago now, India was an aborted nation. The Indian Government Act of 1919 Established the basis for self government along the lines of Australasia's Parliament however due to changes in government policy the nationhood of India was never fully realised. We have a separate Judicial system but we never got our own legislature. Its funny that with the Nuwara Eliya parliament we have in a way gained that. Mattie Storin's plan may have caused controversy but it was undoubtedly brilliant. I don't know how Black is going to run the Country without Parliament but until something changes Lords will continue to meet in Nuwara Eliya.

Wells: I suppose it goes without saying that you disapprove of Black's choice to call for the Queen to dissolve Parliament.

Trevelyan: Absolutely, and I'm not just saying that because I was sat in Parliament. This is a very troubling development and I don't want to be alarmist but I'm not sure how our Nation will survive this if things keep going in this direction.

Wells: I suppose the next logical question is that if Parliament is no longer going to meet in Westminster would you be willing to host commons in Nuwara Eliya too?

Trevelyan: I don't think anyone is really certain about how that would work. We are already in very murky and unexplored waters just calling Lords outside of Westminster and the Queen hasn't intervened yet. I don't know how Commons would meet in India legally and of course I don't know what Her Majesty's reaction would be.

Wells: Right, now lets move on to the recent controversies over in India. Tell us a bit about what happened with the Prince of Hyderabad.

Trevelyan: Yes, really unfortunate business that. I think the man just made a mistake, and that's all been cleared up now. In India we now have a British style education as the right of every child. Some people have taken issue with that and sometimes they take these complaints a bit too far.

Wells: It seems like you're perhaps not giving this situation the weight it deserves, wasn't what happened pretty much open rebellion of a Prince against the British Administration.

Trevelyan: Anthony you're romanticising and adding more drama where is really very little. General Sir Colin Hay has done an excellent job of maintaining law an order and yes he did have to use troops to uphold the law in Hyderabad but that is exactly what the Indian Education Enforcement Act was there for. There were some regrettable causalities but the Prince saw that he had been misguided and promptly stood down. There really is little else to this.

Wells: Would you say then that you aren't concerned by the rise of the True India Movement?

Trevelyan: The True India movement is not something that anyone should be concerned by. We will hear their complaints as they are and so long as they do not break any laws they are allowed to continue their activities. Of course I would like to mention that they may see themselves as representing a Truer India than the India we live in but I really do question if that India is a better India. People are given opportunities now that they simply would not have had before.

When I came to Simla for the first time I took a walk one morning in the Littlewood next to the Viscount's Palace. I spotted this Hardy young Indian lad called Ramanujan. We talked for a while as he knew some good English. He was bright and clearly had potential to do good things, I think he would have fitted in at an English College learning with the best. However I was filled with sorrow that evening realising he would never have that opportunity which we had. He would be held down by his social status and lack of a proper and rigorous education. I decided that day that I wanted to do something about it, if I left one mark on India in my time as Governor-General I wanted that to be an Act that provided education for all children. I feel great pride in the Indian Education Act and I will do anything to see that it is adhered to.

True India represents the opposite of this wish. They want a rigid structure that prevents people from achieving their potential. They stand against the British Values that allowed for India to be united.

Wells: Speaking of uniting India with British values I hear that these recent reforms have had widespread support throughout the India Office.

Trevelyan: Indeed, the Administration of India has never been more filled with passion or such a unity of purpose. All the men and women of the India office who are out here assisting in the maintenance of the Raj are truly loyal servants of Her Majesty and are some of the most driven and brilliant people on this Planet. We have in these past couple of years become focused and have gained momentum to make real changes to Indian society.

Wells: Now I hope this isn't premature but there has been rumour that you may be stepping down from your role after your plan for Indian schools reform has been completed. Would you lend any credibility to these rumours?

Trevelyan: I couldn't possibly comment Anthony.

Wells: Maybe give us your thoughts on who you would nominate as potential successors in the hypothetical scenario that you do step down.

Trevelyan: I feel if I had to pick someone now to take over my job it would have to me Marcy Barge from the India Office. He's competent, driven and shares a similar vision for the future of India as I do. Keep your eyes on some others though Mattie Storin, and some of the members of the Nuwara Eliya Parliament too.

Wells: Well, that's all we really have time for, its been great to have you on the Program again Herbert, hopefully I shall see you again before too long.

OOC: Fun fact: there's a movie about Ramanujan coming soon. :p

In support of their allies in Russia, Greece declares war on Italy

RADIO ARGENTINA. 29.04.1934

Esteban Palmares:Welcome to our next segment, Argentina Today. Today, we interview the President of our proud nation, Alvaro Colon, who has become notorious with signing the Truce of Sucre. What's your take on this, Mr. President?

Alvaro Colon:Yes, yes...Well, all I wanted is peace. Peace for us. Peace for everyone. Peace.

E.P: Several people, including people on your military staff, have come out and spoken against the peace. There's rumours about conspiracies floating around...what can you share with the listeners of Radio Argentina?

A.C: There is no way to peace. Peace is the way. All who oppose peace will be crushed. We will prosper under a peaceful society. Peace for all!

E.P: Are you all right, Mr. President? You seem to be...trembling? Could someone get a nur-

???: That won't be necessary. (gunshots echo. Something falls down on the ground) Finally. This farce is over.

E.P: W-w-w-who are y-y-y-you?

???: We're the very people that you said that are conspiring. But we're not hiding in the shadows. Oh, no. We're representing the true spirit of Argentina. The desire of the people. And they want the end of Bolivia. No more peace! Grab your weapons, Argentinians! The time for war has come once more!

E.P: Well...It seems that the generals did it. Argentina is now couped. The President lies dead. What's next? Civil war? Or will the new regime indeed manage to become popular, as they proclaim war against the hated Bolivians, something that made the Alvaro presidency so unpopular recently? We might never know...

THE NEW RIGHTEOUS RULERS OF ARGENTINA DECREE:

-WAR ON BOLIVIA UNTIL THE END
-MOBILISATION TO 80% UNTIL THE END OF THIS WAR
-AN ASSURANCE THAT DEMOCRACY WILL RETURN ONCE THIS FOOLISHNESS IS OVER

Let loose the hounds of war.

The Great Empire of Bolivia mobilizes to 100%, with an added GETTING TIRED OF YOUR MUCK, ARGENTINA percentage

In response to the shocking and completely radical move by Argentina's new military junta government to break the treaty of Sucre by declaring war, Emperor Guillermo V of Bolivia ventured out from his palace for the first time in fourteen years to address the peoples of his nation.

"My peoples, sons and daughters of Bolivia; We have been betrayed.

The nation of Argentina shows its true colours merely months after peace was brokered between us, breaching a treaty written in belief of a renewed friendship between brothers.

We were on the verge of victory! We could've simply gone on the offensive and caused even more bloodshed and death! But, no! I, your Emperor, saw the futility in continued war and tried to set an example! An example of peace and tolerance, even towards such peoples as the Argentinians!

I see now that I was in the wrong. The Argentinians cannot be trusted with their given freedom. They cannot be left to their own devices. We, Bolivia, must rise to show the way!

Once again, we must stand at the forefront of order and stability in South-America! We are, to our dismay, surrounded by children; Without discipline, and without respect. This fact cannot - and will not linger! Bolivia has always proven itself a benevolent nation, a righteous nation. And by god, we will make it so, even if it has to be hammered into the minds of the vile Argentinians!

Rise now, the glorious banner of Bolivia! Rise now, the armies of liberation!"

The Great Empire of Bolivia:
- Declares total war on Argentina until fully occupied.
- Refuses to acknowledge the new Argentinian government, declaring the former republic a lawless territory held by anarchists.

OOC: Somebody, please help me understand this whole Argentina thing. Did Tolni receive a PM from Nuke saying he got couped, or did Tolni coup his own nation by himself to continue the war? It's not critical, but I'm just as confused as I've ever been about what's happening in the world.

Tolni couped his own government, because he was going to have a coup anyway.
