Bolivia bans circus animals

Treating them humanely while they're alive and then killing them humanely

You're willing to destroy the meat industry in order to do this? Doubt it. Cruelty is inherent in killing animals for food. This will exist for as long as animals are considered to be property.

How many people do you know who eat elephants, dogs, dolphins, and killer whales?

Africans, Vietnamese, Japanese and South Pacific, Japanese.

OOH THEY'RE SO CUUUUUUUUUTE WE CAN'T EAT THEM ^_^ ^_^

For the same reason why refusing to celebrate Christmas or a child's birthday is child abuse.

Not celebrating Christmas isn't child abuse. What about the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists...

You sure they prefer to be killed humanely than to live inhumanly in a zoo or circus?

Probably living a good but short life is better than a long but crappy life.

You know I would have sworn that I added "or other similar holidays" to that...

No, you just said "Christmas," so you fail. :p

Phew. I think we need to enact a law that requires all the PETA fanatics to be tattoed on the forehead for easier identification. :sarcasm:

From guardian

What do ye make of this? I think its a great idea

Idiots!

The "friends of animals" tried the same thing in my country a few months back and were laughed away. Fortunately there's common sense around here.

Are you suggesting that the sun king of the new Inca Empire has no common sense? Crazy talk, I say.

I do not think that teaching animals to perform tricks is necessarily and inherently cruel and should therefore be banned, but this is probably the best imperfect solution for a country that is not able to enforce animal cruelty laws.
